Apartment number 108 and 109 are located in the old city centre, betweenBairro Alto and Príncipe Real, place where a large part of the cultural, gastronomic and nightlife of Lisbon takes place. On the surroundings there are some art galleries, Fado houses, several restaurants and the famous Lisbon Botanical garden, a tranquil place to explore. At 50 meters, you have "Principe Real Place", ideal square for a drink in the shadow of quiet trees.
The apartment is a short walking distance from the other picturesque neighbourhoods of Baixa, Chiado and Alfama, where you can find the historic Castle (S. Jorge). Nearby you have all kinds... of traditional commerce, high standard shops (at Chiado) and access to the train to the beaches around Cascais (Cais do Sodré).
There are 2 public car parks within 5 minutes walking distance (Rua do Século e Rua da Escola Politécnica) and a taxi stop at 50 meters. The closest subway stations areRato and Chiado (10 minutes walk), and from the apartment there is an easy access to the city by foot.
It is a 40 m2 apartment, in the same building as apartment 109 (on the second floor without elevator), recently renovated to include:
living room (satellite TV, stereo and Wifi Internet) with a double sofa-bed (140 cm wide) and an eating table;
a kitchenette with washing machine, electric stove, fridge with freezer and everything you will need to have a comfortable stay;
bathroom with shower;
a bedroom with double bed (140 cm wide).
In wintertime it is heated with electric heaters.
We will welcome you with a bottle of wine.
The apartments 108 and 109are both located at Bairro Alto (BA) in the same building, next door to the marvellous garden Príncipe Real. There are several other apartments at Bairro Alto.
There are three public car parks within 3 minutes walking distance.
BA dates back to the 16th century and is characterized by its small workshops and restaurants. By day, it is a quiet sleepy area (recently pedestrianized); by night the area becomes alive and is a popular place to dine and drink away the early hours.
Príncipe Real is an elegant 18C and 19C neighborhood with a pleasant centenarian park having a quiet open air café and the water museum – Museu da água). In the neighborhood, there are several very good restaurants and bars, all kind of commerce, including antique shops, the park of Principe Real and the oldest Botanical Garden of Lisbon and the Botanical Garden (Jardim Botânico) of the University Clássica of Lisbon. You can also go to all the restaurants and bars of Bairro Alto where the sentimental 'fados' are still sung in some restaurants and cafés.
The apartment is a short walking distance from the other picturesque neighbourhoods ofBaixa, Chiado, and Alfama, where you can find the historic Castle (S. Jorge). It is also walking distance to the subway (the closest is Baixa-Chiado) and train stations (Cais do Sodré) that can take you to the beautiful beaches around Cascais.
A 5 minute walk takes you to Rossio, in Baixa, and to the Elevador da Gloria, arriving in Avenida da Liberdade. In the other direction, by the river Tagus (Rio Tejo), you can find Praça do Comércio, centre of the old Portuguese empire. It is close to shops, restaurants, cafés, banks, cash machines, public transport (inc subway Baixa/Chiado station and electric trams) 24 hour taxi stands, etc.

Me and my boyfriend were very well received, and the apartment had everything we needed: internet, tv, washing machine, microwave, etc. It also had some interesting books for us to read whenever we wanted to. The location is really good, because it has pharmacies, little markets, bakeries around, and it's a 10 minute walk from Bairro alto/Chiado, which for me are the best places in Lisbon to have fun. It was one of the best months in my life. :D Read more

This apartment is near the Barrio alto and a lot of other points of interest in Lisbon. Around it there are several of the best shops and bars of Lisbon. It's fully accessorized and comfortable. I suggest it to everyone interested in living Lisbon as a citizen. Nice price also! Read more

Left on 10/07/2011 for a stay in September 2011 | Annie
We stayed here for a 4 nights in September, it's located in a quiet street but close to the busy nightlife in the Bairro alto. Check-in was sorted out quickly and efficiently, the apartment was clean and has everything you'll need, I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment. Read more

We liked it best. Principe Real is a very nice part of Lisboa, very close to Bairro alto with a lot of nice bars and an interesting nightlife. Lisboa is a beautiful city and the best, it is relaxed and not stressful like other capital cities. Read more

Good appartment with a smell
Left on 11/11/2010 for a stay in October 2010 | Dirk de Haan
The apartment give us all we need for a visit to Lisbon.
Negative was the nasty smell out of the sink. You must fit an pipe to the roof on the sewer system so the siphon-trap will not be emptied by outgoing water.
The location of the apartment was sublime. Nearby the busses and the park.

We really enjoyed our stay in this appartment in the Bairro Alto. The location is nearly perfect : in a quiet street but very close from the city center and the animations. The appartment contained all the necessary comfort and even more and was very well equipped. The kitchen is nice and fitted.

Home from home in Bairro Alto

I loved this little apartment and I'm going to stay there again, it felt like
home from home after a five day break.
Everything is designed to make your stay as pleasant as possible. This is a
very good travel company that also send useful and informative newsletters.
Booking was easy (PaypaL added 7 euro to the cost) and all the necessary
arrangements are made including advice on the cheapest way to get there,
the offer of a transfer from the airport; and then a lovely man welcomes you
with a map, shows you all the main tourist sites and gives you an
emergency number. They even let you leave your luggage at the apartment
if you need to after check out at 11am.
We loved the street with its cool shops, the convenience of public transport,
and the location close to night life, main tourist areas, and significant views
of Lisbon. It's only 50 minutes door to door from the airport using the bus
and elevador. Everything you need is practically next door: restaurants, bus
stop, newsagent, grocery shop, and Tom's gift shop you'll love.
The complimentary chilled vino verde and cafetiere of coffee were most
The apartment itself is on the second floor in a very old house, but due to
the steepness of the Lisbon streets the bedroom window opened onto the
street at the back. The window was secured with a hefty metal shutter;
likewise the main door had good security, all designed to make you feel
safe in a strange city. The double bed was very comfortable, but the sofa
bed less so, and I have enquired about the possibility of changing it,
therefore until this is done, I could only recommend the apartment for two
Best: for location, comfort and service
Least: for sofa bed Read more
Thank you for the detailed review!
I've checked our system and you will come back in October for this same apartment! Great!
Again, a lovely man/girl will receive you in the apartment and the 'vinho verde' will be there too.
The metal shutter was thought specifically for that apartment and the apartment next door, so it is possible to leave the window open without worry with safety.
Regarding the sofa-bed, it is still the same. As we are sure you understand it is not that easy to change a sofa, but we will take your comments in consideration as soon as possible.
