Apartment number 109 and 108 are located in the old city centre, betweenBairro Alto and Príncipe Real, place where a large part of the cultural, gastronomic and nightlife of Lisbon takes place. On the surroundings there are some art galleries, Fado houses, several restaurants and the famous Lisbon Botanical garden, a tranquil place to explore. At 50 meters, you have "Principe Real Place", ideal square for a drink in the shadow of quiet trees.
The apartment is a short walking distance from the other picturesque neighbourhoods of Baixa, Chiado and Alfama, where you can find the historic Castle (S. Jorge). Nearby you have all kinds... of traditional commerce, high standard shops (at Chiado) and access to the train to the beaches around Cascais (Cais do Sodré).
There are 2 public car parks within 5 minutes walking distance (Rua do Século e Rua da Escola Politécnica) and a taxi stop at 50 meters. The closest subway stations areRato and Chiado, just a 10 minute walk from the flat and there is an easy access to the city by foot.
It is a 40 m2 apartment, in the same building as apartment 108, (on the second floor) recently renovated to include:
living room (satelite TV, DVD and stereo) with a double sofa-bed (140 cm wide) and an eating table, wi-fi internet connexion;
a kitchenette with washing machine, electric stove, fridge with freezer and everything you will need to have a comfortable stay;
bathroom with shower;
a bedroom with double bed (140 cm wide)
In wintertime it is heated with electric heaters.
We will welcome you with a bottle of wine.
The apartments 108 and 109 are both located at Bairro Alto (BA) in the same building, next door to the marvellous garden Príncipe Real.
There are three public car parks within 3 minutes walking distance.
BA dates back to the 16th century and is characterized by its small workshops and restaurants. By day, it is a quiet sleepy area (recently pedestrianized); by night the area becomes alive and is a popular place to dine and drink away the early hours.
Príncipe Real is an elegant 18C and 19C neighborhood with a pleasant centenarian park having a quiet open air café and the water museum – Museu da água). In the neighborhood, there are several very good restaurants and bars, all kind of commerce, including antique shops, the park of Principe Real and the oldest Botanical Garden of Lisbon and the Botanical Garden (Jardim Botânico) of the University Clássica of Lisbon. You can also go to all the restaurants and bars of Bairro Alto where the sentimental 'fados' are still sung in some restaurants and cafés.
The apartment is a short walking distance from the other picturesque neighbourhoods ofBaixa, Chiado, and Alfama, where you can find the historic Castle (S. Jorge). It is also walking distance to the subway (the closest is Baixa-Chiado) and train stations (Cais do Sodré) that can take you to the beautiful beaches around Cascais.
A 5 minute walk takes you to Rossio, in Baixa, and to the Elevador da Gloria, arriving in Avenida da Liberdade. In the other direction, by the river Tagus (Rio Tejo), you can find Praça do Comércio, centre of the old Portuguese empire. It is close to shops, restaurants, cafés, banks, cash machines, public transport (inc subway Baixa/Chiado station and electric trams) 24 hour taxi stands, etc.
The nearest airport is Lisbon International Airport at 12 kilometres ; the nearest railway station is International Station of Santa Apolónia at 1 kilometre.
There are several other apartments at Bairro Alto.Read more

We came upon this place after moving from another one. As far as travel rentals go, this apartment is a gem located in a very nice area of Lisbon, Principe Real. The apartment itself is cozy and clean, has a nice kitchen and living space, satellite tv with tons of channels in English. It is on the second floor of a building with narrow and steep stairs, however, so it might be a little difficult moving in and out. Principe Real is a pretty hip area. There's a beautiful park across the street and an amazing pizza shop. The only downside seems to be that the place is on top of a hill, so walking to and from downtown is a bit of a workout. You can circumvent that by using the Rato metro station. TraveltoLisbon provides great service--they will most certainly take care of everything you need. Read more
Thank you for taking the time to leave a very honest and fantastic review.
We are pleased you found the apartment and the area to be suitable for your needs even being located on the top of the hill.
Look forward to welcoming you or someone close to you back again.

The flat is calm, nice and well equipped, the stairs up to the second level are very steep. As the house is build into a slope the window of the sleeping room faces the level of the street behind the house. There is not traffic there - just pedestrians - however despite of some kind of protection shield inside of the window we always kept the blinds and the window closed.

We were welcomed by the absolutely brilliant Vanessa - who rushed over despite I didn't call her early enough. Apartment was clean, spacious, very comrortable and functional (mind you, the living room carpet / rug, has suffered from wear&tear, get a new one, please..!) The bathroom is small, but that comes with the territory in small pictoresque houses such as this. We stayed in Lisbon for almost three fabulous weeks; location in Principe Real is great, for nightlife, and walking distance to everywhere; and yet, the location is quiet, as the party streets are around the corner anyway.
Lisbon is a great city, people are warm, welcoming, open & friendly - and naturally, August is possibly the best month to go; I can't imagine another month would ever measure! Read more
Thank you for the review!
For us it is really important to provide a warm welcome to our guests! (by the way, Vanessa says “Hi and thank you!”)
Principe Real is a very nice area to stay: calm, but with “live”.
We will check the carpet/rug. Thank you for the tip.
Hope to see you again soon!
Perfect appartment for 2 friends or a couple

It's a great place to stay while you are in Lisbon. The flat is in Bairro Alto but also Rossio is only a short walk of 10 minutes away. Although it is in Bairro Alto it is very quiet. The next larger supermarket is also just 5 minutes away. 100m up the road is a taxi stand if you need to get to the airport quickly - this turned out to be important for us. One thing which you need to get used to is that Lisbon is set on several hills and the flat is almost on top of one. So leaving the flat means walking downhill and the way home is always uphill.
The flat itself is very clean and comfortable. The bathroom is small and beautiful. The bed is comfy and the sofa turned out to be a good second bed. Although the living and dining room are one you are not getting in eachothers way. The kitchen is fully equipped even with spices and other ingredients.
The contact to Traveling to Lisbon was very nice. But you better remember to call from the airport after landing otherwise it can take some time until someone drops by to hand over the keys.
Thank you for the review.
The apartment 109 is located between Bairro Alto and Principe Real.
About the hills, well…Lisbon is the city of the 7 hills. :)
Regarding the arrival phone call, yes, it is really important to give us a call in advance otherwise we cannot be there on time!
Thank you and we hope to see you again soon!

If you like this wonderful small park in the middle of lisbon- Jardim do Prinicipe Real - it is nearly the best and closest apartment to stay. And we tried a lot in the meantime in the surrounding.Wake up in the morning, just fall out of the apartment directly, walk only a few meters to have your first coffee and breakfast in the Caf? of Principe Real.A good way to start the day, discover lisbon and come back in the afternnon or evening and have a glas of wine or beer in the Caf?. The apartment itself is perfect for 2 people, with the opportunity to have a 3. person sleeping on the sofabed. It is a litte bit like in living in an IKEA store, looks like the catalogue, everything is new, the apartment is well furnished, you can find everything you need. The apartment is renovated and tidy. The only small negative part is a problem with the strong smell coming from the shower drain (maybe this can be changed someday). Bu that does not reduce the advantages of this nice apartment in a absolutelely quiete area, what is a bit surprising when you consider the close Bairro Alto. Just try it, relax, enjoy the sun in the park, coffees, drinks. And I am sure, you will fall in love with that area and with one of our favourite apartments. And we travel a lot, nearly 5 time per year only to lisbon and always with traveling to lisbon... regards to Raul by the way :o)and thanks for caring always so much Read more
Hello Susanne and Thomas,
Thank you for the review!
I have checked in our system and in December will be your 8th time with us!
Well...what can I say?
Number 109 is a really nice apartment and Principe Real a very sympathetic neighborhood.
We have already tried different solutions for the shower drain, but unfortunately it is a problem related with the building plumbing.
Raul sent he's regards too! :0)
And we will always care!
Obrigado and see you soon!
