Apartment number 123 is located on the first floor of a building (the same as number 47) on the street Rua da Costa do Castelo (street of the castle) that is near Baixa and Alfama.

Nearby you have various forms of traditional Portuguese commerce, and from there you can easily reach most of the popular sightseeing spots in Lisbon.

From its windows you will enjoy one of the most amazing views over Lisbon and the river Tejo.

This apartment has 90m2 and has been renovated to include:

a bedroom with double bed (160 cm wide);

*

a bedroom with double bed (160 cm wide) and a bathroom with shower;

*

... a bedroom with 2 bunk beds;

*

a living room with a double sofa-bed, TV and hifi stereo and dinning area;

* a kitchen with all you need including electric oven and gas stove, fridge with freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing and dry machine;

*

a bathroom with bathtub.

The apartment has a good electric heating system.

There is also wireless internet connection.

We will welcome you with a bottle of wine.

Apartment 123 is located at the Castle S. Jorge district as others, next door.S. Jorgeis located in the highest hill of the historic centre of the city and is one of the main historic and tourist sites of the city. Apartments47 and 123 are in the same building.

The first fortification was built in the 2nd century BC by the Romans and grew over the time. It was renovated in the 10th century by the Moors; it was conquered by the first king of Portugal D. Afonso de Henriques and was submitted to big renovation again in 1300, when Lisbon became the capital of the Kingdom.

Between 1373 and 1375, King Ferdinand I ordered the building of a new city wall around Lisbon. This new city wall, which partially replaced the old Moorish walls, was designed to encircle previously unprotected parts of the city. It had 77 towers and a perimeter of 5400 metres, and was built in only two years. There are still some remnants left (for example agains the walls of apartments 1 and 2). The castle is now a big tourist attraction, especially for the wonderful views (vista do Castelo de S. Jorge) of Lisbon that it offers.

This location has easy access to Baixa, the Castle (S Jorge) district and also to Alfama and to Santa Clara, where Lisbon's flee-market (Feira da Ladra) takes place.

It is also close to some of the stops of the famous tram number 28. This is a scenic route crossing most of the tourist neighbourhoods of the city centre. A definite must for any visitor to Lisbon.

After the great earthquake of 1755, when the center of Lisbon was destroyed, a new center was constructed, made of grid pattern “geometrical” streets. This area, situated between Praça do Comércio, Rossio and Praça da Figueira is called Baixa.

From Baixa you can easily access the nigh life district Bairro Alto and the smart Chiado, with all his theatres, museums, elegant and traditional shops, bars and restaurants.

To the other direction, going up street, you will accede Graça and Santa Clara the place where Feira da Ladra (Thief's market ), the flea market, happens every Tuesdays and Saturdays. Here there are also several “musts” not to miss on your visit:

Panteão Nacional – Church of Santa Engrácia: When the construction began in 1682, it was planned as one of the Lisbon’s biggest churches. However, it had been long neglected and the construction was completed only in 1966! It was then that the Panteão Nacional was inaugurated. Here you will find cenotaphs of Portugal's heroes. The interior is colossal and contains the tombs of historic and literary figures - from Vasco da Gama to Amália Rodrigues, the famous fado singer.

The convent of São Vicente de Fora: Portugal’s first king, Afonso Henriques laid the foundations of this church in order to fulfil a vow to construct Christian Houses of worship where Portuguese and European crusaders would lay to rest. Inaugurated in 1629, the church was severely damaged by the 1755 earthquake. It has been recently renovated and deserves a visit. The view from the rooftop is one of the greatest in Lisbon.

Some "Miradouros" (vantage points) miradors with amazing views over the castle S Jorge, the river Tejo and the city roofs. (miradors of Graça with an open-air café and Senhora do Monte 600m further on). The views are even more spectacular at sunset.

The nearest airport is Lisbon International Airport, which is 12 kilometres away.

  The apartment was ok, clean big and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the city. The position is good, very silent and peaceful. It's easy to reach the centre (figuera / rossio) since there is a free public elevator about 100m from the apartment.
  During our stay the weather was rainy and a bit cold ..my only criticism is that the heating could have worked better, since the apartment was a bit cold. Apart from this, everything was 100% OK

  Todo lo que anuncia el propietario es correcto. Apartamento con todos los utensilios necesarios y reformado. Esta en una zona con encanto, al lado del Centro Chapito y el Teatro do Garagem, ambos con unas terrazas espectaculares. Supermecado Pingo 12 al lado. Tambien muy próximo recomiendo comer en O Eurico.
  Salón muy amplio y habitaciones mas que correctas. No dejarse engañar por la apariencia exterior del edificio y por la escalera. Buena opción dentro del casco histórico.
  Wifi en el salón.

  The travelling to Lisbon crew will meet you whenever you are ready, they are just a phone call away. After negotiating the steep steps up the alfama hill from Rossio square we were met with a super apartment that had everything, was spotless and comfortable. The view across the city to the water was superb. We had a great stay, felt very safe and could listen tot he nightlife, above it all, until the wee hours of the morning. The alfama district is difficult to navigate, but chocked ful of wonderful people, bars, restaurants. We would use this apartment again, we couldn't imagine a better view, location or service.

  Nous étions 5 adultes (2 couples et un adulte) agés de 55 à 65 ans. Ce joli appartement (refait à neuf, parquet vitrifié) avec ses 2 salles d'eau était parfait. Cuisine bien aménagée (lave-vaisselle, etc.), salle à manger avec très belle vue sur la ville, comportant une grande table avec 6 chaises. Toute la batterie de cuisine et la vaisselle nécessaire pour 6. Literie confortable. Tv, lecteure DVD et mini chaîne hifi, mais le salon un peu spartiate avec son divan peu confortable et les deux poufs inconortables (à améliorer). Pas de wifi, la prise Ethernet pour l'ordinateur est dans la chambre aux lits supperposés, donc pas utilisable lorsqu'on y dort. Une liaison wifi serait parfait. L'appartement est au 1er étage (27 marches), d'une maison à 6 appartements (à vérifier), calme situé dans une petite rue à mi-hauteur du castello Sao Jorge. Plusieurs chemins pour arriver dans le quartier de la Baixa et tous ses commerces: en aval de la rue, à droite, un escalier de 240 marches (les premieères sont plus difficiles), mais un ascenseur un peu plus loin, dans le carrefour, près d'un bar avec terrasse, qui descend 7 étages plus bas, dans une superette (bien utile, ouverte jusqu'à 20:30); en amont dans la rue un autre chemin qui descend à la praca Moniz avec 150 marches, moins typique. Attention, pour marcher dans la rue de l'appartement et partout dans Lisbonne, pas de talons (hauts,on se tord les pieds), les pavés sont très irréguliers. La station de métroest à environ 700m (descendre par l'escalier ou l'ascenseur, prendre à droite (ou en face) dans la rua Madelena, puis la rua Sta Justa à gauche, toutes les rues (dont augusta, pietonne) vont à la place Figureira,où se trouve le métro, les bus, les trams (15 pour Belem, le fameux tram 28 se prend place Moniz). Pour 5€ (par 24 h! carte rechargeable 0,50€) avec la carte Viagem vous pouvez utiliser les transports à sassieté, prendre le tram (car le billet coûte 2,85€), l'ascenseur pour aller au Chaido (5€), le métro (1,35€), le bateau pour aller de l'autre côté du Tage. Pour les acrocs aux musées, il existe une carte de 5 jours (11€) ou 7 jours (14€) pour visiter les 28 musées nationaux et 5 châteaux nationaux (dont celui de Queluz et celui de Sintra, train à la gare de Rossio) du Portugal (amortie au 3ème musée/château). Note: l'entrée au Castello auprès de l'appartement coûte 7,5€ pour avoir une vue sur la ville et voir les restes du château ininteressant!

  This is a really spacious appartment right in a lively and well-connected spot in the city. If you're looking for something quiet, this might be not what you want, but if you want to be _in_ the city, then go for it! The guys from "TravelingToLisbon" who manage this appartment on behalf of the owner do a good job of explaining you the basics when you arrive, and they're giving you lots of phone numbers to call in case you need help (we didn't). The appartment itself is very spacious and clean. Anytime again!

  This very roomy apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, upstairs verandah and patio was fantastic. All modern appliances and good quality furnishings. The women who met us were extremely helpful and lovely. They even loaned our youngest member of extended family group a laptop. We were helped to book the bus to Seville. Fantastic stay in a beautiful city with 10-15 minute walk to main centre and 5 minutes to Cathedral.
  Great value for money and would suit group of 4-6.

  Location good - newly renovated appartment in an old building. App. very clean - only the house, specially the stairs are dirty, 'cause of hairy dogs in the house. Quiet and sunny. Furniture is Basic, a bit cold and basic, could be more cosy and confortable with better chairs, table, sofas, etc. We used the kitchen for daily cooking - for this the plates, the dishes, the pots are not sufficient and there could be more and more functional ones. Thanks for the perfect service, after warm and professional welcome we immediately received the tea-pot, we have asked for. The DVD Player was not working - the Tv-quality bad. Attention in the bathroom, the shower tub is leaking and some elements are already broken, 'cause of bad quality.

  We all loved this apartment in the alfama. It was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. The view from the balcony is beautiful, there are wonderful restaurants nearby. Next time we will definately stay longer.

  I am sorry that you feel the service was not good due to your check out experience. Unfortunately your check out was on a (moving) bank holiday and this was not perceived on your check in, hence the misinformation. It is correct that we do provide that service and many other guests have used it, just not on bank holidays and weekends, as stated on our website. I would like to say however, on behalf of Traveling, that we did manage the situation and readjusted a very busy schedule on that day to accommodate you leaving and collecting your bags, to minimize the impact of the inconvenience. We do place the comfort of our guests as a top priority and I am sure that anyone on bank holiday duty that day would work out a solution, so you could enjoy your last day, as I am sure you did, relieved of your luggage.

  This vacation went smoother than I ever imagined. Everything was just as it was described, and the view was amazing. I found the location perfect (but be prepared for lots of walking!) the apartment was better than it was described. The price was much less than staying at a hotel and allowed for a more authentic feel to my visit. I would absolutely recommend this apartment and Travellingtolisbon.com to any friends!

  We found travelingtolisbon.com through a google search. Like most, we then read all of the reviews and conducted as much research as we could about the company. Everything came back positive so we went ahead with the reservation. We are thrilled that we did. They arranged our pick up from the airport for us. Expensive, but as we were arriving in Lisbon for the first time we went with the sure thing. (Heading home it is easier and far less expensive to take a taxi). They check in couldn't have been easier. They were waiting at the apartment and had us through the paperwork in five minutes. (as pointed out in other reviews, do bring your final payment in cash) The offer for help was made and contact information was given.
  
  As for the apartment... It was perfect for our family of two teenagers. They were each comfortable in their own room. Kitchen was well equipped. The view was outstanding. Dining and living areas are cozy but worked well for our family of four. The terrace is tiny so I am not sure about afternoon cocktails. It was February so it never came into play.
  
  In total, the whole package worked for us. Apartment was just what we needed. The company was a pleasure to work with. We would use them again on our next trip

  The only down side was that it was colder than heck and the space heaters are quite dangerous if you're not used to them. However, the location is brilliant -- right next to the castle with quite a few gorgeous restaurants nearby. Not a whole lot of reason to go into the city. Will definitely try to stay there again when we go back to Lisbon.

  We had a terrific stay at apt. 123. It was in an ideal central location, about a ten minute walk to Rossio square. The apartment itself had a great view over the city. It was spacious and clean, and the kitchen was very well-equipped. The staff in particular was exceedingly friendly and very attentive when its help was needed. We met the owner and she cared very much about having a first-class apartment. My only complaint is that I already wrote a glowing review and now I've been asked to write another!
