NEW APARTMENT! Fashionable apartment with a terrace in a top location!

This wonderful design apartment is on the first floor of a building on Campo de Santa Clara, the place where the most famous flea market of Lisbon (Feira da Ladra - thieves' market) is held, every Tuesday and Saturday.

Nearby you have various forms of traditional Portuguese commerce, and from there you can easily reach most of the popular sightseeing spots in Lisbon.

It is also walking distance to the subway and the train stations Santa Apolónia (not close enough to be disturbed by the trains’ noise), connecting the capital to the northern pa...rt of Portugal and also to the trains coming from Spain. The nearest airport is Lisbon International Airport, which is 12 kilometers away. There is a stop of the scenic route by the famous tram 28 very close by.

The apartment is 100 m2 and has been entirely renovated and remodelled to include:

two sleeping rooms with double beds (140 cm wide);

*

a sitting and dinning room with a double sofa bed, satellite plasma TV, Cd and DVD players;

*

a complete kitchen with a washing machine, dishwasher, electric and gas oven and electric stove, microwave, fridge with freezer;

*

a bathroom with bathtub;

*

a terrace with sofas, eating table and even a shower (cold), perfect for the hot summer days in Lisbon.

In wintertime the apartment is heated with electric heaters.

Wireless broadband access available for those who have their own laptop with Wi-Fi compatible equipment.

We will welcome you with a bottle of wine.

Apartment number 30 is at Campo de Sta Clara, the square where Lisbon's most famous market - Feira da Ladra - is held in the early afternoon every Tuesday and Saturday. Behind the various bric-a-bracs, you can also uncover second-hand clothes, books, disks, and, if you dig deep enough, some genuinely valuable antiques.

You can easily reach the city centre by foot or by taking the famous tram number 28, a scenic route crossing most of the tourist neighbourhoods of the city centre. A definite must for any visitor to Lisbon. You can also walk to Alfama and, from there, to the castle (S. Jorge) and Baixa, Chiado and Bairro Alto.

In the neighbourhood and in the nearby Graça, there are several “musts” not to miss on your visit:

Panteão Nacional – Church of Santa Engrácia: When the construction began in 1682, it was planned as one of the Lisbon’s biggest churches. However, it had been long neglected and the construction was completed only in 1966! It was then that the Panteão Nacional was inaugurated. Here you will find cenotaphs of Portugal's heroes. The interior is colossal and contains the tombs of historic and literary figures - from Vasco da Gama to Amália Rodrigues, the famous fado singer;

The convent of São Vicente de Fora: Portugal’s first king, Afonso Henriques laid the foundations of this church in order to fulfil a vow to construct Christian Houses of worship where Portuguese and European crusaders would lay to rest. Inaugurated in 1629, the church was severely damaged by the 1755 earthquake. It has been recently renovated and deserves a visit. The view from the rooftop is one of the greatest in Lisbon;

Some "Miradouros" (vantage points) with amazing views over the castle S. Jorge, the river Tejo and the city roofs. (miradors of Graça with an open-air café and Senhora do Monte 600m further on). The views are even more spectacular at sunset;

The Fado and Portuguese guitar Museum: Situated at Largo do Chafariz de Dentro. It is a place where you can have a historical visit through the most the traditional Portuguese music -Fado- and famous Portuguese fado singers like Amalia Rodrigues, Carlos do Carmo and Mariza. During the summer (Thursday's, Friday's and Saturday's) you can dinner in a small square of the museum and listen to Fado, live! A night program you certainly won’t miss!

  We had a very nice time in Lisboa.
  Check-in was very easy, with a very nice person. The terrace was dirty when we arrived because it had rained a lot the day before, so the person called the cleaning person who came immediately in the afternoon. Too bad the terrace is never in the sun, but it is nice to have anyway. Location very easy (tram 28 is 5 minutes walking) and very quiet, except of course on Tuesday and Saturday when you have the market just in front, but it is a nice activity :-)
  We really enjoyed the stay and the appartment was very comfortable!
  The room with the washing machine could be cleaner though, but I wrote it in my check-out review already, so I hope this will be taken into account.
  Overall, a very nice stay and place, which we would recommend for sure to couples and families (we have 1 son of 2 1/2) (but not to older people, quite far from the center if you need something last minute and the 28 is often full of people, so would be difficult to have a seat if you need one...)

  If you want to be close to the sites, this is the place. We suggest that you:
  1.not be put off by the mess caused by overhanging trees above the terrace or by the apparent lack of drainage on the terrace
  2.walk to Graca to stock the apartment
  3.catch tram 28 nearby
  4.get lost in the alleyways and discover wonderful restaurants
  5.relax in this comfortable and quiet (except market days ) apartment
  6. Thoroughly check everything is working when you arrive and keep the name and number of the person who shows you the apartment
  7. Beware of pickpockets
  8.enjoy the delights of alfama while living like a local.

  Good value for apartment in alfama - not perfect though

  Pros:
  - easy booking
  - good layout in apartment included enough space for our family of 6
  - good location with free parking on streets. Because of the Thieves Market, you can't park in front of the apartment during the day on Tuesdays and Saturdays - but there were many alternative spots in the area. Just be sure your car isn't there those mornings. We saw another car being towed. And the property manager did not inform us of this.
  - Cafe is just a step away for a fresh espresso in the morning. Close to many alfama restaurants. They are tucked away in odd places - but they are there. You just need to explore the streets. We found a great new Italian pizza place - Primo Basilico - the owners just moved from Torino to open up the shop. We bought a bunch of slices to take home to the apartment and warm up for dinner. And of course the small restaurants had great Portuguese meals.
  - Tram 28 is a close walk away. A 24-hour pass will get you access for all the tram, subway and buses in Lisbon. The price is 5 euros.
  - free wifi - although we couldn't use it because we couldn't read the passcode provided. Be sure to ask for and test the passcode
  - terrace is a great spot for meals
  - we got an amazing price because we booked last minute
  - friendly, easy key pick-up at the apartment. We were provided with a map of Lisbon.
  
  Cons:
  - bathroom was a bit dingy with wooden floors, wooden counter tops and mouldy tub
  - poor quality sofa bed - okay for one, but falls apart if two people sleep on it.
  - terrace was unkept - we had to scrub it down to use it
  - needs an espresso pot. "Coffee maker" was a horrible.
  - ants in the apartment - they were constantly crawling from under the baseboards
  - the pillows and mattresses smelled musty. It smelled as though the pillows were pulled out of some damp storage room and tossed in the apartment. They could all use a good cleaning (mattress and sofa pillows)
  - no air conditioning and, even though we requested fans for each bedroom, only one was provided for the whole apartment. You can't sleep with the windows open. There are no screens to keep mosquitos out and it didn't seem safe to do so.
  - we didn't get the friendly walk around the neighbourhood and bottle vinho verde that we read about on the website.
  - they could have spent 0.35 euro to provide a bar of soap to get started. We also had to stock the kitchen with paper towels, olive oil - some essentials.
  - no clothes dryer.
  
  Overall, if i were to return to Lisbon I would rent a different apartment because it seems like there might be some better choices out there. Especially if I had to pay their normal price. The big discount for booking last minute, however, made this place worth it. With a good and serious clean up, this place is perfectly fine.

  nice apartment,noise from street especially weekend
  nights.Beware of Tuesdays and Saturdays,when flea market is outside apartment.Do not rent a car
  during the stay,since parking and driving is very
  difficult.We walked a lot and lived and shopped like locals.To sum it up the apartment is perfect
  if you want to live like the natives.We would stay there again

  appartement conforme aux photos et idéalement placé, près du tramway n° 28 avec une très belle vue sur le Tage. Appartement propre, clair et lumineux avec tout le confort imaginable. Le seul point négatif est la terrasse, qui était sale au niveau du sol et des fauteuils de jardin donc inutilisable et surtout infestée de moustiques... c'est dommage car ma recherche d'appartement avait été faite sur ceux qui possédaient une terrasse...

  Ganz tolle Wohnung in toller Lage!! Absolut empfehlenswert!

  Das Apartment ist wunderschön und für eine Ferienwohnung sehr gut ausgestattet. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, vor allem der kleine Innenhof ist ein Traum, gerade mit Kindern, weil wirklich nichts passieren kann und die Dusche für viel Spaß sorgt! Sogar parken kann man direkt vor dem Haus, nur Samstags und Dienstags wohnt man quasi auf dem sehr bekannten Feira de Ladra- dem Markt der Diebin! Ein Hinweis hierauf wäre schön gewesen, denn als wir an unserem ersten Morgen erwachten, stand unser Wagen mitten in einem Verkaufsstand und war dort bestens integriert ;-)! Die Lage der Wohnung ist auch super, mit der nah abfahrenden 28 ist man schnell im Getümmel, die Wohnung selber ist aber am Rande des Zentrums und sehr ruhig gelegen.
  Fazit: Wir können diese Wohnung uneingeschränkt empfehlen und werden wiederkommen!
