Description from the manager
Apartment 99 is a wonderful studio located on the fourth floor of a renewed ancient building (the same as numbers 98 and 121), at Alfama. The view you have from all the windows is so magnificent that you will feel like leaving in a tower on top of Lisbon.
The apartment is a short walking distance from the other picturesque neighbourhoods of Baixa and Castle. Nearby you have all kinds of traditional commerce, bars and restaurants and access to the train to the beaches around Cascais (Cais do Sodré).
There is a parking place at 10 minutes walking form the apartment at Largo das Portas do Sol.
The apartment has 20 m2 but...Read more

Me and my 13 year old daughter were completly satisfied with our stay. The apartement is well equipped and has got a spectacular view over the alfama. I was happy, that I could change the apartment from groud to 4th floor. Thank you for this!!
I will recommend this apartment certainly to other people and might come back again myself one day.
Thank you and hope to seeing you again.

It was just as beautifull as the pictures says. L'appartement et le quartier sont formidable. Et la qualité de l'accueil fut irréprochable.
Rien à redire.

Stunning view of river and town below. Situated in old part of Lisbon with easy access to everything. Winding, steep cobblestone streets, the scent of orange blossoms, a non-touristy zone helped add to the authentic Lisbon experience. The studio apartment is well-equipped and modern, but we did have a few quips: low, slanted ceilings by the bed mean you will bump your head occasionally and the stairwell to the apartment is steep and poorly lit (if you are tall, or, disabled this is not the place to stay!); as non-Europeans, figuring out how to use the washer-dryer combo was a challenge--simple instructions vs. the 100 page user manual would've been nice; also, the floor was unswept, and, there was only 1 roll of toilet paper (Since it's an apt. I guess you are expected to purchase this yourself. Ttl, supplying this, as well as ensuring the floor was clean, would be a nice and inexpensive gesture.) Overall, we had a nice stay and TTL was great to work with (I would use them again). We would recommend it for 1 or two travellers who don't mind walking, appreciate a "modern studio home" feel vs. a touristy hotel and want to enjoy a "real" experienca en Lisboa!

Although the tiny apartment was beautiful and well-located, we had some trouble. As it rained for a couple of nights, we had some ugly stains in the ceiling that made us be afraid about electric supplies, thinking that it could be dangerous. Otherwise, we had to use all of the towels in the house both of the nights due to the fact that the leak dropped from the external wall.

Dear Itsaso,
Your feedback is important to us and we thank you for taking the time to review it online.
Our guests comfort is of utmost importance to us so I am saddened to hear, only after you have left, that your stay was not as perfect as it could have been. Had we been informed that there was a leak in the apartment you would have given us the opportunity to resolve the situation, inclusive move you to a different one, if needed be. We do offer a 24hr emergency service and telephone number on check in so our guests feel that we are here to make all in our power to help them have the best holiday possible. I am afraid these situations are out of our control, as I can guarantee you it was not leaking before, and the infiltration may have occurred as a result of the abnormal rain in Lisbon last month. This situation is now being dealt with and next guests will not experience this inconvenience, which we thank you for.
Once again, on behalf of TravelingtoLisbon please accept our apologies. We look forward to welcoming you again.
Best regards,

We would without question rent this flat again on future trips to Lissabon.. not too big but perfect for our purposes (just watch you head if you're tall, the ceiling is low in places!). Beautiful views and the best neighborhood you could hope for.

Colognenice (small) apartment, perfect setting
Left on 08/26/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We only stayed for 3 days (too short), it was always nice coming "home" to this cosy apartment right in the middle of alfama. Very nice view from the windows over alfama, its churches, and the Tejo. The "inside" of the apartment was very stylish, modern, up-to-date, and with love for detail...
If you need lots of space, or if you are very "big", this might not be the perfect place to stay, but for the rest I (we) can really recommend this place! -

On reviendra!Response from Traveling to Lisbon - 06/28/2010

Paris, FrancePrivate "miradouro" over Lisboa
Left on 01/22/2010 for a stay in December 2009
Lovely, bright place, cosy, clean and modern. Very useful as all equipped. Key point to share Alfama neighbourhood - with its butchers, fishmongers, grill restaurants, fado places.
Unique point of view over Lisboa and the Tage.
Calm flat - noise only come when heavy rain starts pouring onto the roof!
Just this advice to share:
To reach the flat: taxi drivers only cost 10€ from the airport but they don't know the street. Easiest way is to get dropped at the "museu-casa do fado" (close to Sant'Apolonia station). On the little "praca", take first right: "rua dos remedios", after 10 meters first on left: "rua da regueira"; at the end of the street (about 150m), on the left you find "rua do Castelo Picao".Response from Traveling to Lisbon - 01/25/2010

Dear Alice,
Thank you for the review!
If you are looking to know the culture and traditions, Alfama is the best neighbourhood to stay.
It is magic to live over the roofs. Unit 99 is a top floor!
We say it is normal to get lost around Alfama, but it seems you know the way!
Future guests, pay attention! The above info to get to the apartment is accurate! :)
Alice, thank you once again and hope to see you again soon!

The apartment is ideal for 2 young people (young because it?s on the 4th flour and the street is not accessible by taxi). It is well organized so that you don?t feel any lack of place. Excellent kitchen. We liked the welcome-vinho verde, it was a good choice. The young man from the stuff who welcomed us was very helpful. It?s fun to observe the river from the windows especially at night, at sunset and at sunrise. The moon was shining directly into the roof-window. There were some little problems. 1) it was not easy to find the place (there are no adequate maps of Alfama?s little streets and stairs). 2) The district is not quite safe and it?s not recommended to stay alone on uncrowded streets and stairs (we had a little accident which ended happy for us). 3) It?s possible to turn on only few electric devices at once at the apartment. It?s even difficult to take shower (the water is heated by electricity) while the dishes are washed. 4) You can hear the neighbors rather well and you may disturb them as well (but as the apartment below belongs to Travel to Lisbon, your neighbors are not likely to complaint ). Nevertheless I highly recommend this apartment. It looks even better then on the photos on the site. I have the best recalls from our stay in Lisbon. Thanks a lot to the stuff!

Dear K*****,
Thank you for the review!
It is a fact that it is not easy to walk around Alfama, but this is one of the “charming” things (if you are not in a hurry…).
We provide Google Maps information before arrival, but this is just for the apartment way.
The electric central installation of the building is not new, so it is not possible to have all the electric devices on, but usually nobody uses all the major devices on the same time.
About the neighbors, between 10pm and 8am we have the ‘quiet time’, but neighbors are comprehensive with ‘normal’ noise.
Thank you and we hope to see you again soon!
