Description from the owner
A lovely 16th century former cider farmstead set in the very heart of the beautiful Pays d'Auge region of the Calvados departement of Normandy. Nestling into the southern slopes of a picturesque valley with meadows, pastures, orchards and woodland, La Boursaie has a picture postcard view across a valley of ancient manors and villages.
Our four charming and characterful half-timbered cottages, built in the traditional Colombage style typical only of this region, are set around a spacious pretty courtyard.

We are a family of 5 (3 children under age 10) and we stayed at this fantastic 16th century former cider farmstead near Livarot for 2 nights to break our journey as we were travelling from Dunkirk to the Loire Valley. It was everything we wanted and needed...and more. We had our own property (the restored cider workers' accomodation) and use of the acres of woodland and lawn... the children loved the horses. Our friendly hostess anja delivered continental breakfast to our property each morning and we came down to a beautifully laid farmhouse table. The farmstead was ideal for visiting the interesting nearby museum & site of the last Battle of Normandy at Mont Ormel, where the Falaise Pocket was closed, as well as the village and small cheese museum at Camembert. We explored the Normandy landing beaches & our host Peter was an invaluable source of useful tips & info. We hope to stay again.

Stayed for a weekend and loved it. Very relaxing, lovely views. Very novel accommodation -- the kitchen is an old apple press. Owls hooting at night under the stars.

ReigateThe perfect retreat!

Having had a busy week previously with 18 members of our family, it was with some relief that we retreated to the wonderfully peaceful and beautiful La Boursaie. We had a wonderful time with our 3 boys. We couldn't have asked for more hospitable, welcoming and generous hosts. Our boys loved every minute, imposing themselves on anja and Peter's family without either of the latter raising an eye-brow! The accommodation suited us perfectly and was very well prepared for us. Anya had thought of every detail needed for us and particularly our 1 year old son. La Boursaie is in beautiful countryside but within easy reach of many great attractions- you won't regret staying and, no doubt like us, will leave with many happy memories.

We had a brilliant stay in Les Fouines, one of a group of holiday cottages at this site. The building and gardens were charming - well modernised and maintained but with plenty of atmosphere from the old farmstead. It was peaceful and our hosts were friendly and very helpful. We booked a meal with them one evening and enjoyed it thoroughly - one of the three of us is a vegetarian and had a special dish prepared for him which was imaginative and delicious. The area is lovely, too - very green, with rolling pasture and orchards and the famous half-timbered buildings everywhere. There are also zoos and outdoor activities not too far away for kids, not to mention plenty of chateaux etc.
Our teenage son was only with us part of the time but we availed ourselves of table tennis and badminton when he was there.
