Left on 09/24/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Gemma and Simon were there to greet us when we arrived. They explained everything to us and said they would be on hand should we need anything. The views - stunning. Every room is furnished to such a high standard, so spacious and really well equipped. We have been there on both a summer and a winter vacation and have had an amazing time. The games room is great, we were never bored even when it rained for two days. It was great to have the pool in the summer. Sitting on the patio overlooking the hills was something else.
We all had a great time, including the dog. The thing i liked the least was having to leave. It has something to offer in every season. Have already booked my next break there.Response from Simon Nelson - 09/25/2012

I often don't review things; never seem to have the time. But my family and I have stayed a few times in this beautiful location; and always loved every minute.
You know when a place is relaxing and homely when it's pouring with rain while your on holiday and your still having a good time! The views are awesome, the new pool is great (even allows you to take in the view while lying back in the pool!), the fire place is great out of the summer and the overall cosy feeling makes my house feel in need of attention!
The best thing I can recommend is Christmas here. We spent Christmas here in 2010 (the year will had lots of snow!) and it was amazing. It was like an american film in Canada, so I took some beautiful photos to capture the memory's.
11/10.

Wakefield, West Yorkshire.A lovely place for a family holiday!

Fourteen of us stayed for a family holiday here at Cae Madog in June this year. There was lots of room for everyone so as not to get under each others feet. The snug was great for the kids to go and watch a film or make use of the xbox. Plenty of space to spread out so it suited everyone in our party from age 4 to 64 and all those in between.
The house itself is very well equipped, everything you could need and more.
The pool was made good use of by all of us, even in the wet weather we were unfortunate to get on some days.
The separate pool room occupied the older kids when we were at the house, and proved an excellent storage space for beer.
The location was beautiful, what amazing views to wake up to. It is a great base for exploring the surrounding area. The beaches at aberdovey were superb but I'd avoid Borth.
The owners reside nearby and were very friendly and approachable.
I would recommend this property without hesitation.

Property was fantastic and very clean and the owners friendly. Location was amazing - very secluded with some lovely walks nearby. We were really lucky witht he weather and spent most of our time round the pool.
Only thing stopping me giving a* rating was the fact that the X-box didn't work, the BBQ could do with replacing and they could do with some additional kitchen furniture (such as extra frying pans and larger kettle) in order to accomodate large parties.Response from Simon Nelson - 09/24/2012
Owner
Many thanks for your positive review Ele, we will certainly be acting on your suggestions.

Simon and Gemma are a very welcoming and friendly couple and made us feel at home in their beautiful barn. The accommodation is excellent with every possible convenience catered for, even the dog was made more than welcome. The barn can accommodate up to 16 very comfortably. Its a beautiful conversion and the heated swimming pool was a real hit. The barn is sat on the side of the Twymyn valley with stunning countryside all around. The barn feels a little remote but that is definitely one of the things that drew us to this location.we usually go self catering so have bought most things with us but when we needed to top up the local shop was just a few miles up the road. Its a beautiful area with so much to do and trips to the beach just a short car ride. We all had a fantastic holiday at Cae Madog barn and look forward to a return visit.

From the time of our booking Simon was at the end of the email to help and advise. The cottage is everything that one could ask for, warm comfortable, will appointed. Set in beautiful countryside yet not too far from amenities. Plenty of places to visit which occupy all ages. The children particularly enjoyed the heated pool in all weathers.

Thank you so much Val - it was a great pleasure to welcome you all at the barn. We'd love to see you again sometime.

We stayed at Cae Madog Barn with a group of 6 couples and 5 babies. The facilities great, everything we could have needed, and we even had great weather, so were able to use the pool a good bit.
As all new parents, the first time we were away with our babies, we all agreed that next time we would not have the kids in the same rooms as the parents, but the house is actually perfectly set up for children as well, with bunk beds. We are definitely going to return in the future, and have already recommended it several times to friends and family.
