A great retreat for a group of friends to spend some quality tim

Left on 02/16/2013 for a stay in January 2013

As we entered the cottage in the dark and the rain the lights were on, it was warm and welcoming, and there were lovely touches such as milk, bread, cheese and fruit waiting for us, how lovely, it was like coming home!
The house was everything it advertised and more, in a stunning location where you could feel the weight of the world leave your shoulders!

      Superb holiday retreat.

Left on 09/18/2012 for a stay in September 2012

The cottage is in an outstanding position with breathtaking views over the Brecon Beacons. The cottage was immaculate on our arrival with a very handy welcome pack. There is ample parking (4/5 cars) and the big outside table is great if the weather is fine. Forrest walks are literally on the doorstep with the big ascents of the Brecon Beacons are about half an hour drive away. The cottage has a great atmosphere. All the bedrooms are comfortable and of a good size. The hot water is constantly on and the central heating is available when needed. The kitchen is well fitted and equipped, but large parties might struggle with the four burner hob. It is very comfortable, but cannot be described as the last word in luxury. The cottage is about 8 minutes drive from the main road with the downside that Llandovery with its shops etc is about 15 minutes drive away. If you want to get away from it all it is ideal.

A first class cottage which provided an excellent base for an extended break over the new year period. The accommodation was spacious, comfortable, clean and very well appointed. The proprietors provided an excellent service from start to finish and all 8 of us have booked for a return visit in 2011.

      Totally relaxing...just perfect. Test it!!

Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010

The spot is beautiful even at the end of December into January, without sunshine. The house itself has everything. Cleanliness, comfort, warmth, plenty of hot water. Fully equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge. Ample room for dining. Am sure it is equally the perfect setting in the middle of summer for the views, walks or just relaxing around the BBQ. Contacting the owners prior to our arrival was greeted with no problems whatsoever. Extremely helpful.

Penywaun House deserves the highest 'star' rating possible. Well done.

The perfect place to unwind after all the Xmas festivities

Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010

We rented the cottage after the Xmas Bank Holidays and we were there for the New Year.
The cottage was in a beautiful part of the country ideal for walks but not too far by car to Llandovery and other Welsh villages and towns.
The cottage itself was warm and cosy, clean and well furnished for our party of 8. Indeed it had everything you could want for an enjoyable holiday, there was even a fruit bowl and fresh flowers to welcome us.
The owners were very obliging and we would all definately book again.
      Thank you.

      Heaven!

Left on 08/09/2010 for a stay in July 2010

My family and I recently stayed at Penywaun and loved it. We have never taken this kind of holiday before but had not long returned from a Majorca all inclusive and need a "holiday after the holiday"! From the moment we spotted Penywaun nestled on the mountain side we knew we were in for a treat. From the outside the house was charming, exactly how you would picture an old welsh farmhouse but on entering it was home from home (but nicer!) and every need was taken care of. The cosy diner & well equipped kitchen meant that even on rainy days we adults could all sit comfortably around the table with a bottle of wine (or two), home cooked food and good company whilst the teenagers played on the games consul or board games supplied by the owners. We had a little one with us and was able to pop him in the travel cot in the downstairs bedroom confident that we could hear him if he stirred. Upstairs the large, roomy bedrooms ensured that we had a good nights rest and we could go to sleep without drawing the curtains as in front of us there was not a house in sight - the views of the countryside in the morning were wonderful as you lay in bed! We had family join us to celebrate a special birthday later in the week and we used this time to enjoy the garden and BBQ, it became a game amongst the children to spot a car or aeroplane! We had planned on exploring the area but found that everytime we went out we couldn't wait to return to the house because we enjoyed Penywaun so much. We did though manage to sample yummy afternoon tea in the local Llandovery tearooms and the older children went horse riding at Ffos Farm which they enjoyed very much. All in all, Penywaun was a great choice of holiday home, it beat Majorca hands down and we can't wait to return next year. If your after a relaxing, recharge your batteries, family holiday Penywaun is the holiday for you!
