      Unglaublich traumhaft!

Left on 07/20/2012 for a stay in December 2011

      A beautiful apartment

Left on 01/07/2012 for a stay in December 2011

We travelled to Cape Town from Johannesburg with my daughter and her fiance who were visiting from the UK in December 2011. My daughter found Far Horizon online and she booked on the strength of the photographs and the reviews she saw. Booking was made online very easily.

We arrived in Llandudno to be greeted by a very friendly Rose (the owner) and were, to put it mildly (and it's not a word I generally use!) "gobsmacked" by the views from the apartment. Rose showed us around and we were very impressed with what we saw. The decor is done in very fresh blues and whites and as another reviewer said, very New England. There is a 180 degree view of the sea from the lounge. The lounge, kitchen and dining area are in the same room with all the bits and pieces you will need if you decide to cook. Two bedrooms, both en-suite; main with views across the sea; second bedroom with views across the nature reserve. There is a wrap around wooden deck/balcony with built-in braai and table and chairs to have breakfast or sundowners. Also two benches to sit and watch the sun going down. And what sundowners we experienced!

Llandundo beach is a short stroll down the road - its clean, pristine beach has lots of lovely rocks and rock pools for enthusiastics. Part of the charm of the area is that there is no commerce; no shops or facilities in Llandudno itself. But a short drive away, there is Hout Bay and on the other side, Camps Bay. And in those areas, more than enough to keep you occupied and begging for the peace and tranqulity that is Far Horizon.

We go to Cape Town quite often and now that we have found Far Horizon, we will definitely be putting this on top of our list to see if there is availability before anywhere else.

Just a small point and not serious, but for those who have problems going up stairs, it is a 'penthouse' apartment so there are a few stairs to the top, so keep that in mind. I'm in my 60's and had no problems though. Just thinking of the 'infirm'.

      Not Enough Superlatives

Left on 12/27/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Having grown up on the beaches of Cape Town I didn't think I would be too blown away by a short trip to Cape Town spending 3 nights in Llandudno. Well I was wrong. Far Horizons Penthouse is without doubt one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed in. It has been very tastefuly decorated and equiped. The views are unsurpassed and the proximity to one of the world's finest beaches makes it the perfect holiday destination. Go and be mezemerised.

      Best location in Llandudno

Left on 11/19/2011 for a stay in December 2009

Far Horizon is a great place if you feel like being close to the beach, and I mean close! The whole feel about the place is very New England. It's as if you're on the white sands of Llandudno beach by just sitting on the wonderful blue wooden bench on the terrace. To get to the apartment it is a bit of a climb as the access stairs are rather narrow and steep but once you are up in your nest it's fabulous. Huge sliding doors assure your view of the surf even if you're deep in your sofa. Practical kitchen, standard bathrooms, very comfy beds. You have sun in the morning on the side so that each ray of sun can be taken advantage of. There' s a small pool in the garden in front but it's rather small. The hosts are charming and genuinely warm and friendly. If you stay you are definitely part of the family. Double checking the booking can be a good idea as my booking had gone astray at some point but was then swiftly retrieved.

Incredible Views, Beautiful Bay, Comfort ~ Far Horizons was perf

Left on 07/05/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Just one half hour from Cape Town International airport and 15 minutes from center city this penthouse apartment in the village of Llandudno is a peaceful oasis with a perfect location. From the two-sided deck and each room inside you can see and hear the waves arriving on the beach and rocks below, listen to them crash and watch the spray at high tide, gaze at the sky through soft sunrise and dramatic sunset, and feel the relaxation from within.

Owners Rose and Roger are friendly and interested in their guests. When it happened that my arrival day was to be stormy I received several e-mails from Rose offering me alternative transportation from the airport if I did not want to drive a rental car in that weather on the left side of the road. I stuck with my rental car though I arrived a bit tense after which Rose offered to bring me with her into Cape Town, where she had an appointment, show me some markets and a choice of restaurants and return me back with her when she was finished. I gratefully accepted the offer and she was lovely company. I confess to some scuffed marks and a ruined hubcap on the left of the car by the time my week was up and Roger buffed the scuffs out for me in an effort to decrease my liability (it worked).

I met my friend from australia for a week's comraderie and we used the apartment as home base. We took day trips down the cape to the Cape of Good Hope and shopping in Simonstown, into Cape Town for walking around the waterfront and more shopping, out to the Little Karoo to aquilla Game Reserve for a safari drive (fantastic scenic drive), down to Hermanus for whale watching (the scenic route back is another fantastic drive), up Table Mountain for some hiking and awe at the views, and back each evening for dinner at nearby restaurants and wine on our deck in complete contentment.

The two ensuite bedrooms are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. From parking on the ground level to the third floor penthouse apartment is 50+ steps so be prepared for that, but the views make it well worth the climb. We loved our stay here and would stay nowhere else upon a return.

The most fabulous apartment in the Cape!...

Left on 08/09/2010 for a stay in March 2010

Travelling with an extended family group can always be a challenge, especially your in-laws!.. Once again Rose & Roger welcomed us to their apartment with open arms.

We have visited "Far Horizon" on a few occasions now, both purely as a couple "getting away from it all", and as an unofficial tour guide to our Belgian family. On all occasions we have been amazed by the view, the friendliness of Rose, and the amazing value of this exclusive apartment.

As you can tell by now, my family and I are huge fans. Please do not tell anyone else about this stunning apartment, keep it secret! If you are thinking about booking I cannot recommend this highly enough, but please don't post anymore positive reviews or we'll never get back in again!

I cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough, one of the genuine secret treasures of the Cape Coast!

      Stunning views

Left on 07/27/2010 for a stay in April 2010

We have stayed here three times now - we love it so much. The house itself is very well appointed with very comfortable beds and a beautiful 'New England' feel sitting room. What makes the house unique however is the wrap-round deck and the most stunning views of the ocean and the multitude of surfers. The sunsets are amazing and the beach and rocks are exciting to explore. This is a super property!
