      Beautiful Stay

Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Really enjoyed our stay. Was the perfect location for us to explore the area. So much to do and see, we only were able to get to half of the top 10 list. Very nice bedrooms with plenty of living space and nicely equipped kitchen. Really appreciated having laundry facility right there as well. Would love to come back again.

We had a lovely holiday in the Railway Cottage. The cottage itself was well equiped, and from the cottage you could make very many trips.
We would like to come again.

A perfect start to our Scottish holiday.

Left on 06/23/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Working with Rowena made the whole rental process so easy. She was helpful, accommodating and friendly. The cottage itself was immaculate and the attention to detail (e.g., a first aid basket) was great. Upon our arrival we found a bottle of wine and a box of assorted Scottish shortbread...a lovely welcome. The information binder we found there was extremely helpful for day trips and relevant info about the area.
The views from the front windows were exactly as shown on the website; Loch awe and the Munros were beautiful. The cottage is very convenient to the a85 but that also meant that we heard the noise of traffic some of the time. A word (or two) of caution: we would advise visitors to the Highlands that "midge" season is from mid-May through august, so bring or get some insect repellent!
Overall...if you're thinking of renting Railway Cottage..do it!

      Cannot wait to return!

Left on 05/21/2012 for a stay in May 2012

This cottage is the perfect hide-away - close enough to Oban for days out but remote enough to over look Loch awe in peace and quiet. Stunning views. A lovely walk up to the dam behind the cottage. It was well equipped, all home comforts, amazing views that could not get better. Visit this cottage - otherwise you will be missing out.
We will be back when we can and it is such a nice area to explore. Iveraray is a must - go to the Brambles for cake!

      Lovely Cottage In Excellent Position

Left on 04/07/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We have just spent a week at this homely and cosy cottage. Rowena was there at our arrival and spent time with us, finding out what we liked and then gave us some good recommendations where to go and what to see. As we were blessed with the most fantastic spring weather, we were able to see most of what we'd had in mind and it was lovely to return to the cottage after a long day of exploring the area.
I had been a little concerned about the proximity of the a85, but the level of traffic is really no problem at all, especially at night, and it allows easy access to most routes through the area. And really, the a85 is only a minor distraction from the breathtaking view you get of the loch!!
All in all, Railway Cottage is a well-equipped, extremely comfortable place to stay if you are interested in Western Scotland. We will go again!

Small but perfectly formed. Everthing you would need in a quiet

Left on 10/09/2011 for a stay in April 2011

The owner was very helpful. The gas fire didn't work, but the owner brought us electric fire for every room.

The property was very clean, and had all the essentials. The living room was small but adequate for 2 people. It is in a peaceful location overlooking Loch awe. It has lots of walks nearby. The view from the outside balcony was beautiful but not much garden to speak of. Not suitable for young children as there is not much of a garden to run around and they would need to be supervised as quiet a drop to the front - its sitting on a cliff. Throughly recommend it for couples wanting a quiet retreat.

      Great location by Loch awe

Left on 08/12/2011 for a stay in May 2011

The property was situated in a lovely location surrounded by leafy trees and large rocks and well looked after.
The owner Rowena was very accommodating and made sure we were well taken care of even with a power cut on the last night.
Easily close enough to Oban and Inveraray for days out and food shopping.
Worth taking the ferry to Mull as a foot passenger just for the scenic ferry crossing.

Lovely little gem on Loch awe

Left on 07/21/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Hosts Rowena and Nigel could not have done more to make our stay memorable - starting with welcome chocolates and whisky! Perfect location for day trips, especially the Steam Train to Mallaig... and we were lucky enough to have the rare experience of seeing a steam train pass by behind our cottage.
Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and pretty flowered area outside where you can sit and watch the world go by.
Cottage is located on the main road running beside Loch awe but it is situated high above and far back from the road - we saw this as a bonus as it meant we were easily able to access other links to other areas we wished to visit.
A lovely, lovely holiday at Railway Cottage.

Everything was as we anticipated and as described by Rowena. The house is very clean and comfortable with everything in it you could need. In addition, spectacular views over the Loch made it that little bit more special.
The service and help from Rowna before and during o9ur stay was excellent, she even arranged for some superb weather! Sitting on the small patio overlooking the Loch in the evening sunshine with a cold glass of wine was a perfect way to end the day after some superb walking in teh area.

Left on 02/27/2011 for a stay in August 2009

My Partner and I visited the cottage to enjoy the beautiful Scottish scenery. This cottage was clean and well kept with all amenities - the best thing was the views from the comfort of our terrace at breakfast time. The location is great - near enough to the visitors centre but private and away from the road. We went into Oban for day trips, which was a very easy journey and to the famous Inverawe Smoke house. The cottage is well situated for walks - do visit Fort William and Inveraray for a day is a must -a walk up to the bell tower. we look forward to returning to the cottage soon
