Description from the manager

In a spectacular scenic setting on the edge of a fresh-water loch, surrounded by beautiful hills and mountains, this most attractive modern bungalow offers a superb Highland retreat in a peaceful and remote area. Achmelvich is a small hamlet west of Lochinver with a beautiful white sand beach. The area is renowned for excellent fishing opportunities, with over 300 lochs to choose from - a boat is available at the property for guests to use at their own risk. There is plenty of scope for hill-walkers and climbers with the famous Torridon sandstone peaks of Canisp, Suilven and Quinag. The area boasts magnificent scenery and an abundance of wild...Read more

We had a wonderful holiday, partly because weather was fantastic

Left on 06/06/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Good modern house with lots of space for extended family including baby and toddler. Usual conveniences including microwave, combi boiler so hot water all the time, efficient central heating although no fire. Bit low on cooking dishes and bowls, no casseroles and no food storage such as bread bin, tins etc. Loch is lovely for adult swimming and very shallow so warm and safe, and short car ride (or bike) to wonderful beaches. Midges might be a problem in July/August but we were lucky as it was sunny and a breeze mostly. Wonderful bit of the country and lots of hills, fishing, etc and some good places to eat, craft shops etc in Lochinver

Fantastic property, stunning location & an unexpected heatwave i

Left on 04/29/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We were a party of 6,(members of Barrow Mountaineering & Ski Club) ranging in age from 40 to 73yrs old. The accommodation was perfect for us to share;it contained everything we needed, was clean, spacious, with plenty of room to spread out.Very well maintained, with stunning views over the loch.
Beautiful loch side location, perfect peace & quiet; the unexpected heatwave 24 degrees with wall to wall sunshine meant we could use the BBQ in March. The clear night skies were an absolute delight to us city dwellers.
It was possible to walk to the nearby beaches, also to Lochinver over the fells & there were many mountains to climb without having to drive a long way. The icing on the cake was being able to take the boat out on the loch. A fantastic time was had by all.

Stack Polly, the first days objective, climbed in 24degs! Achmelvich Beach - only a short walk from the accomodation!

      Stunning spot

Left on 07/26/2011 for a stay in July 2011

It would be easier for renters to go straight to property as it is easier to find than keyholder.
      The house was functional.
Loacation good and amenities of house - could do with another shower and some larger towel rails as if 6 friends all with towels we had to use the clothes horse.
Some cushions in lounge would make it more welcoming. Our opinion was that it most definately had the bare minimum comfort factor but then I suppose it was a cheaper house. Also there was some smell from the septic tank and we were not sure whether it was from the house above or ours. We did not voice any of these points with the keyholder who seemed very friendly but had difficulty walking. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would not necessarily stay again at this property unless some alterations have been made.
      Thank you

      Spacious bungalow in beautiful surroundings

Left on 07/21/2011 for a stay in June 2011

My friends and I spent a glorious week's holiday (fishing)at achmelvich. We found the Lochinver area to be lovely with stunning views, around almost every corner !
Our accommodation was spacious and very well appointed - only downside being a lack of maintenace to certain items (window frames and radiators - repainting required)

      Peaceful, remote and very beautiful.

A lovely large, one floored house by a beautiful loch. Six of us and one small child of nearly three shared it and we had plenty of space. The bedrooms were OK but a bit old fashioned, not in any way luxurious and the kitchen could have been better equipped. The cutlery was very old fashioned and there wasn't even a fresh coffee maker. The pots and pans were also not very appetising to use, quite well worn non stick. Having said this the sitting/dining room, location and loch (with little rowing boat) made up for all of this and I would definately return.
