Beechmont House is located in the picturesque town of Lockeport on Nova Scotia’s South Shore a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Crescent Beach.
Originally chosen for its proximity to rich fishing grounds, Lockeport was settled in 1761 by the enterprising Dr. Jonathan Locke and Josiah Churchill. During the heyday of the fishing industry, it was one of the most prosperous towns along the South Shore. Today the town is known for its stunning location. An island adjoined to the mainland by a scimitar of white sand, Lockport boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the area. Over a mile long, Crescent Beach has a distinctive charm. Shielding the inner harbour from the force of the Atlantic, the beach stretches like a protective arm keeping the town safe from the advances of the surf.
Should you wish to explore, the historic town of Shelburne with its shopping and restaurants is about 25 minutes away. Liverpool with its Privateering heritage is 45 minutes drive; while the UNESCO World Heritage town of Lunenburg is 1.5 hrs away to the east. The Acadian Village in Pubnico is about a hour to the west; Yarmouth is just over an 1.5 hours away. Halifax International Airport is 2.5 hours drive.
