      Perfect place to stay

Left on 05/23/2013 for a stay in May 2013

We loved our stay at La Boulangerie. It has charming medieval character as well as beautiful decorating, modern bathrooms and kitchen, and comfortable bedrooms. The pictures on the website are accurate; take special notice of the view from the third floor bedroom, a once-in-a-lifetime view. The living room was comfortable too and had a TV that carried BBC and CNN, for those who want to catch up on what is happening elsewhere. Everything was spotless, and Nathalie, the manager, was amusing and helpful--fun to meet. When we had to leave earlier on our day of departure, she was most accommodating. The village itself is so interesting: the medieval buildings, the beautiful church, and the grounds of the chateau, with lovely views over the countryside. Don't miss La Petrie with its excellent baguettes, croissants, and pain au chocolate. We also strongly recommend L'Amarena restaurant, just steps from La Boulangerie. The owners are so friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious, especially, in our opinion, the Sicilian and the Italienne. We're a bit embarrassed to admit it, but we ate there three nights--we couldn't stay away!
St. Aignan is perfectly situated for visits to the chateaux. There are so many to choose from, but our favorites were Chenonceau, Villandry, Usse and Cheverny (be there at 5:00 to see them feel the hunting dogs). We also spent time in amboise and toured Leonardo da Vinci's last home there.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We recommend La Boulangerie most highly and would love to stay there again.

Amazing house, amazing town in the middle of the Loire Valley Fr

Left on 03/24/2013 for a stay in July 2012

Stayed in July 2012. Our stay in this amazing house in the centre of the medieval town of Saint aignan was breath taking. Close to all shops and amenities. The 3 bedrooms were well presented, modern furniture in the lounge area also. We visited so many sites, we wished we had stayed longer. Chateaux, ZooParc de Beauval, Wineries, everything right at your doorstep. The Saturday market in the town square out the front of La Boulangerie holiday accommodation is worth staying for. We did too many activities to mention. This house is definitely worth the trip, the walk to the bakery each morning was so much fun, collecting bread and pastries. I would definitely recommend this for any group, family, couple or any other type of traveller. Worth every cent, do yourself a favour and visit the best part of France.

This place is a traveller's dream destination.

Left on 02/22/2013 for a stay in December 2012

Our stay in this property was so wonderful that at first I considered keeping it a secret - but I've raved to so many of my friends and family that the word's out! I've been holidaying in Europe regularly since 1978 and I have to concede that Christmas, 2012 in 'La Boulangerie', St aignan, provided one of the highlights of my travel experiences. Your first viewing of the house will make you gasp: those beams! those flagstones! the beautiful, spiral staircases! The historical aspect of the building initially promises a cosy, quirky environment, but in addition to this, it's fitted with all mod. cons: neat kitchen; dishwasher; modern bathrooms; spacious bedrooms; crisp linen; comfortable furnishings. It's a dream. And on Saturday mornings, there's a market on the doorstep, offering the finest comestibles France has to offer. The cheese! The oysters! A few doors down is your local bistro - 'Chez Constant'. Drop in there for dinner on your first night and from then on, you'll be treated like a local. It would be perfectly feasible to spend your time in this village without a car, as there is so much to do, for those who just love to eat, drink and ramble, but if you want to go further afield, the chateaux and vineyards of the Loire Valley are easily accessible. After holidaying here twice, I want to live in St aignan. Correction: I made that decision after the first visit. Full marks to Rachael, the owner, whose communication and helpfulness have been second-to-none. Nathalie, the local shop-owner who will greet you on your arrival, completes the welcoming team for this spectacular holiday rental. Do yourself a favour - book this accommodation.
