Additional notes from owner
Enjoy our five-star guest oasis for those looking for affordable, upscale very short-term accommodation in a very convenient neighbourhood of London. Five-star styled, designed led contemporary surroundings wrapped in a London Victorian residential home. ( technically, you enter into a 'license to occupy' part of our private residence for a week.) Ideal for 3 to 5 people (FIVE PEOPLE MAXIMUM); or for two people who want space to spread out. No further taxes or other charges. No charge for linens. No exit fees. No fees for keys. No charge for cleaning; we ask you to wear slippers on the new floors, to keep things neat and tidy and to clean up before you leave so that our cleaner can concentrate on changing beds, vacuuming and cleaning the bathrooms for the next arrival of guests. Our housekeeper comes in every few days to do a quick clean of the bathrooms and vacuum if necessary. You tidy up at the end of your stay, put out all rubbish and recycling as well as gather useable empty bags which will be donated to the corner charity shop.

Mountain City, TN, USAA great stay in London

My husband, S-I-L & I stayed at Barclay House for 1 week and very happy with all aspects of our lodging. The location is convenient to all forms of transportation and eating establishments. Charlotte is a wealth of information and happily shares (or arranges) for needs/desires. We'll be keeping her in our contact file for a future trip to London.

We always enjoy helping guests with last minute details, including a quick visit to our dentist to settle a tooth problem before these very agile and well-organised travellers ventured off to Paris!

As a single traveller I wanted a safe, comfortable and personal experience with my accommodation. Barclay House was the perfect solution. The fantastic location gave me quick and easy access to all of London's main attractions, in addition to being only a short walk to lovely trails along the river. The rooms were nice and simple and the space is very clean. My morning breakfast chats with Charlotte always provided me with local knowledge for my day's activities. Thank you Charlotte, until next time!

This guest came to us through a work colleague who has stayed with us, with his wife, three times--always nice to meet friends of friends and colleagues of colleagues. This guest and I worked out a jogging route that several guests have used since her visit to explore the River Thames, the wonderful Bishops Park and other open spaces right around the corner--when you're going for an early morning run this beats New York City any day... so say the enthusiasts... It was a pleasure for us to host a Sunday morning blueberry pancake breakfast that turned into guests announcing their engagement and showing everyone a gorgeous ring that had been acquired the day before! Congratulations and we hope to see you again soon. Charlotte and Adrian

Having lived in London many years ago I knew exactly what I wanted in a place to stay: something in the lovely green of the South West but still close and convenient to all of the sights; something in a home that would give one the feeling of being a real Londoner; self-catering and not-expensive...In short - something in Fulham! I was pleased to come across Barclay House while perusing Craigslist and it seemed to fit the bill. I looked at the photos, read other reviews, liked the price and location, and so took a risk and booked it. It could not have worked out better. Not only was it everything I had hoped for, it had the added bonus of being a "jazz house": the proprietress, Charlotte, is a jazz aficionado and not only is happy to share her recommendations of clubs and events, but also generously invited us to events which she was attending and also into her home upstairs afterward to socialize and hang out with the artists! My father, who I was showing London to for the first time and who is also a jazz buff, was suitably impressed and amazed to be a part of this scene. Staying at Barclay House is simply a wonderful experience that could not be had in an impersonal hotel or even in other flat rentals or bed and breakfasts. I will definitely be back - thanks again Charlotte!

This father and grown-daughter duo were a treat to host in our home. I only wish he had played a tune for us! Maybe next time...they went on to Paris to stay on a B&B boat which sounded amazing... from the rooftops of London to the waters of Paris. What more could you ask for. Good luck and we hope to see you again sometime in London. Charlotte and Adrian

We had a very warm welcome by the owner of the apartment, who showed us everything important and handed out the keys to us.
During our stay with our three boys(14,12,8 years) we felt very at home and really enjoyed coming "home" after a day of sightseeing.
The location is great, two minutes walk to the next tube station, many little restaurants and shops around..We´ll sure come back!Response from Barclay Guest Apartment owner - 07/20/2010

Charlotte and Adrian, your hosts, hope that you are enjoying a nice summer in Austria. You were lovely guests and we hope to see you again when you return to London to visit relatives and enjoy more museums with the boys.

It was our best week ever in London, with the best that England has to offer. Charlotte and Adrian are superb hosts. They even let us throw a fourth of July party on their two terraces (one for the barbecue and one for the guests!) Charlotte also baked an apple pie for the party since she didn't feel we would find a proper one in London. The two of them also gave a concert to the guests. They are also great musicians in addition to being great people!
