My family and I stayed in two units at 8
allen Street-a great idea with small children in tow. Although the furnishing and fixtures needed updating and freshening, the apartments themselves were sparkling clean, the staff friendly and helpful. The location, less than a block from High Street, was excellent - shops, restaurants, groceries. We traveled into the heart of London by bus or tube with ease. Wonderful parks and playgrounds for the children were also within a short walk. Because we arrived so late, it would have been nice to have been provided with juice, nescafe and bottled water until next morning shopping - the cupboards were bare! -

We liked the location and size of the unit. Once we figured out how to operate the heat and electricity, we liked the unit. We thought the staff in the building was pleasant and helpful. A bigger coffee pot and one that brews (vs. the press variety) would have been better for us. There was an unpleasant smell in the master bedroom for several days which was finally remedied. Biggest complaint is this: we asked for train times and stations to Oxford which is where we went when we checked out. We were given times from Victoria by the staff. When we checked out, the staff recommended that we hire a car to take us and our luggage to Victoria which we did. Cost was 25 pounds. When we got there, we found that there are no trains from Victoria to Oxford; all trains run from Paddington. We then took a black cab to Paddington which was quite adequate. Cost was 14 pounds. We wasted time and money going to Victoria which was very unsatisfactory to say the least.
