    Additional Location Information

Kensington is frequently associated with the city’s best dressed and well-heeled. As such, it is no surprise that it is notable in particular for its main commercial artery, Kensington High Street, home of the Whole Foods Market flagship store and a vast selection of affordable brand names. Moving westwards takes you to Shepherd’s Bush, home of the behemoth Westfield shopping centre, the largest urban mall in Europe. Alighting at the South Kensington tube stop, you begin to understand the area’s reputation as the city’s heart of high-brow culture. Right next to the station you will find a tightly knit (and well signposted) corridor of museums and galleries, all of which date from the 1851 Great Exhibition, whose profits Prince Albert used to regenerate the area. This includes the V&A;, Science and Natural History Museums, as well as the Royal Albert Hall. The beauty of Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park adds weight to London's title of most verdant city of its size in the world.

      home away from home

Left on 10/05/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Chesson Rd was a joy to come home to. Monica is lovely and could not be more helpful. The location was great, close to 2 tube stations and local buses. Monica told us about the local markets for fruit and vegetables every Saturday, which I would recommend to anyone staying for a week or more.
We especially loved the courtyard garden - only wished we could have spent more time enjoying it.
There are plenty of pubs close by where the food was good and good value.

      lovely lovely

Left on 02/09/2012 for a stay in June 2011

We are a group of asian travelled down from Scotland after a 6 days trip there. We had a wonderful stay in chesson road. The most wonderful thing is the back garden of this apartment actually connected to the back garden of another apartment at Bramber road. Both apartments belong to the same lovely landlady Monica. So it is a good choice for a family or group of 4-5 friends staying in these two apartments. The location is not that near to tube station but takes around 7-10 minutes walk. still acceptable. We took the easyjet bus from gatwick airport to the last stop and walked another 5 minutes to reach the apartment. The landlady Monica is very nice. She has a very lovely garden with lots of flowers. We always had our breakfast in the garden. The only thing we are a bit disappointed is there is only a microwave in this apartment. But we can cook at the apartment of Bramber road. We really enjoyed our staying there.

A lovely comfortable and homely base to explore London

Left on 12/23/2011 for a stay in September 2011

We approached this booking with some trepidation as we made all of the arrangements over the internet from australia. Alexa from Ivy Lettings was wonderful and was very prompt to deal with all of my emails / questions. She also arranged for a pickup from Heathrow which was really great and delivered us to the door of Chesson Road.

The apartment is as lovely as the photos indicate, in a classic tree lined street of terrace houses. The lounge/living area is very comfortable and has a kitchenette area. The kitchen facilities are limited in space but was adequate for the odd meal we prepared there. The bedroom was beautiful with the added bonus of the french doors out to the courtyard area which was a wonderful area to relax after a big day exploring. The bed was very comfortable (another reviewer suggested otherwise). The bathroom is not shown in the photos but is very nice.

The 3 nearby train stations, as well as buses, make it easy to get around. There are several pubs nearby that serve good food, well priced, with great atmosphere. Some good basic restaurants are nearby, as well as food stores if you want to cater yourself.

Monica is the owner who lives in the house above was an absolute delight. She went above and beyond our expectations in sorting out a few things for us and to make sure we were comfortable. We felt like family, and even shared her lovely dog Bella. It was a very memorable stay.

Absolutely the best! Very very clean!!!

Left on 11/21/2011 for a stay in October 2011

This was by far one of the best renting experiences we have had. We have spent a total of 80 days in Europe, over two 40 day vacations, and have stayed in vacation rentals instead of Hotels. We have never had a particularly bad experience anywhere, but nothing rivals this little gem.
It was a privilege to stay at 81 Chesson road where all our dreams of London came true. Monica ( the owner) has to be the sweetest woman we have ever met! I accidentally left my ring there ( we live in San Francisco) I contacted Ivy lettings, and they contacted her, and she found it and sent it to me!
Guy, our reservationist, was the best very thorough and very timely with his response to emails. The apartment was very clean. And trust me when I say, that I am nuts about the places I stay being clean. For some reason everywhere I stay, I feel like their standard of clean in not the same as mine. I started to wonder if maybe it was a European thing, and then I came here and realized the others were just lazy :$ and they didn't tend to ( or care about) their property as much as Monica. The beds were comfortable and its much more spacious than it seems in the photos.
I also wanted to compliment the woman who let us into the apartment as Monica was away at the time that we arrived. I can't remember her name at the moment ( I think it was Mimi?) but she was adorable and such a love! I can't wait to go back to visit my new friends at the Chesson Road apartment. I just hope now that I have shared my lovely experience that it won't be booked when I try to stay there again. See you in a year or so Miss Monica!

Charming and easily accessible residential accomodation

Left on 10/27/2011 for a stay in May 2011

This comfortable and delightfully appointed studio is ideal for a couple. A small child's alcove bed is provided. While not in central London, the city transport system is within an easy short walk. Owner assistance is generously offered if needed. Cooking facilities include a double electric hot plate, microwave, under counter Frige, sink and required utensils and the use of a beautiful small English garden in the south facing rear of the house, are also included.

      Why stay in a hotel?

Left on 08/19/2010 for a stay in July 2010

I stayed here on Chesson Road for 22 nights in July 2010 while on business. It's a garden/lower level, one bedroom with a living room that has a fireplace, washer/dryer, sink, refrigerator, and electric stove top. It looks just like the photos. There are two beds. One is a double size and the other is a twin size. If you are tall, the twin size may be too short to sleep in. There is also a beautiful pack patio with gorgeous flowers of which the owner takes great care. She also has a great little dog that loves to hang out.

The flat is located in a residential neighborhood. You are not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of London. I enjoyed this. I felt like I was "living" in London, not just visiting. There are two Tube stations equidistant from the flat (West Brompton and West Kensington). The choice of Tube stations made it easier to get home since I had two different trains that would take me to the neighborhood. They are each about a 10 minute walk away from the flat and gave me easy access to anywhere I wanted to go. Also, the one tour bus company I used had a pickup stop at Hotel Ibis, which is only a 5 minute walk away.

There are plenty of small markets, restaurants, and pubs in the area. But, I still think the best part was the fact that when I went "home", it was quiet and "away from it all." I would stay here again and have already recommended it to my parents.

      Charming Chesson Road

Left on 12/15/2009 for a stay in September 2009

We received excellent service from Ivy Lettings.
Making the booking was simple and there was plenty
of information about the places on offer which made
it easier for us to make our choice.
Guy met us at the flat on arrival and he made sure
      we had everything we needed.
"Chesson Road" was a superb flat where we were made
to feel at home. The place was charming and the
owner an absolute delight - very friendly and
welcoming and nothing was too much bother for her.
The flat was well equipped, with a comfortable bed,
nice linen and very clean. The location was very
handy to transport and shops. As well as all that
we thought it was very good value for money.

I can't recommend Ivy Lettings nor Chesson Road
highly enough. We were very pleased with the whole
experience and will be looking to rent this place
again next time we're in London.
