Description from the owner
We looked at more than 50 residences to find the perfect London home base. This is it! From Heathrow, take the 15 minute express train to Paddington and go a short cab ride or one tube stop.
Enter our townhouse: separate gate, private entrance; not an anonymous apartment building. The Edwardian interior is beautiful: 9 foot ceilings, crystal chandeliers, crown molding, period artwork. On the first floor is the reception room, eat-in kitchen, and separate dining room. The second floor has a large bathroom with toilet, bidet, bath and separate shower. Next to it is a cloakroom with toilet and sink. The 2 upstairs bedrooms are large an...Read more

Williamsville, NYA wonderful London Retreat!
Left on 04/16/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This is a beautiful London townhouse in a charming neighborhood. The home is located in Maida Vale, an upscale residential neighborhood located near Little Venice, Regent's Park and Regent's College. It is a short walking distance to a Bakerloo line Tube stop. We found the Bakerloo line to be the most convenient to travel and this was a pleasant surprise!
Although residential, the neighborhood boasts a number of small cafes and restaurants, a deli and a convenience store all on the same corner as the home. After a busy day of traveling around London, it was a pleasure to "come home" to Castellain and enjoy the flat and the neighborhood.
The home itself is delightful. It is decorated smartly, with some historic prints and decor, to make you feel truly a part of the history of London. The kitchen was large enough to cook a meal, and the dining room was large enough to entertain if you wished. The living room and bedrooms were ample.
The owners were helpful and provided information about the area and the city. The home had numerous guide books, power adapters, towels and other conveniences.
Overall, the Clark's Castellain townhouse was one of the primary things that will make our London vacation memorable for our family.
There is a reason that this townhouse receives so many favorable reviews- the attention paid by the owners to every detail of the home and the guest's comfort. They are to be commended for their efforts. I highly recommend this residence. -

Left on 04/02/2012 for a stay in March 2012
This great 2 bedroom flat had it all: central location but in a quiet neighborhood, loads of space and all the comforts of home. Traveling with our 4 year old twins, we especially appreciated how close it was to a big local park with a huge playground. Also handy was the local restaurant Le Cochonet, which did great pizza and pasta dishes we all loved. The owner was very responsive and seemed to have thought of everything, including laundry soap and tons of maps and guidebooks. We will be back!

Left on 10/12/2011 for a stay in August 2011
The townhouse was spotless and spacious. It had every amenity I could think of. The convenient French bakery,Italian deli, and wine shop allowed me to cook dinner and make sandwiches for lunch so we didn't stop our sightseeing. Thank you so much, Fatijah. The flat was so beautiful. The tube was so convenient. We were the ultimate tourists and love, love, love London!

We couldn't have stayed in a nicer place. It was the best. It was wonderful to visit busy London and come back to this serenity. And what a wonderful neighborhood this is. The folks around here are very friendly. We can't wait to come back!

Couple from Tennessee
Cleveland, TennesseePerfect place to end a trip to England
Left on 10/11/2011 for a stay in September 2011
What a lovely apartment! My husband and I were traveling in England and Scotland visiting family and ended our 2 weeks with 3 days in London. The apartment was just perfect. Great, quiet location but only 2 blocks from the tube. So at the end of each day, we'd come back to the apartment (along with a few aunts, uncles or cousins) and have happy hour and just relax. One night we had pizza from the place downstairs. Another night we ordered Indian and had it delivered right to our door. Delicious Indian food and the menu was in the apartment along with many others. I honestly have no complaints at all. The bathroom was the biggest one I think I've ever had in Europe. The bedroom was quite large and the living room just beautiful and perfect for entertaining. Great coffee and breakfast foods across the street. Hubby got egg sandwiches and juice. Me - cappaccino and croissants or pastries. Lovely, lovely place. And Fatijah, the owner, made the arrangements effortless. I'd love to have met her.

Austin, TXHome away from Home
Left on 09/16/2011 for a stay in August 2011
You get the idea. This is the home you'd want for yourself if only you had a home away from home. I just wanted to take a little different approach from the typical review. Yes, the bedrooms, baths, living areas and kitchen are just as promised. And oh my...what a wonderful landlord Fatijah is. So all that you read is true and then some. But what people don't often mention is the wonderful neighborhood. Every day we arrived home to serenity, tree lined streets and great restaurants/groceries. After a fun-filled day of London tourist spots or country side train rides, there is absolutely nothing better than returning to Fatijah's home. We were only there a week and we should have stayed no less than two. Enjoy!

San Diego, CAEven better than we anticipated!
Left on 09/16/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We had very high hopes for this townhouse, and our expectations were not only met, they were exceeded. From the informational packet we received before our trip, to the great ideas for things to do, to the neighborhood guide and maps included, this wonderful rental was hands down our favorite place we stayed on our tour of the UK. There are even helpful notecards around the house explaining the significance of certain items in the townhouse. The bedrooms were both very comfortable, the kitchen was roomy and up to date, all the decor was beautiful, and we were so sad to leave. The neighborhood is excellent too, and public transport is very easy to access from the location. As much fun as we had sightseeing in London, I equally value the wonderful times in the apartment and walking around the neighborhood. Hope to be back one day!

We really enjoyed staying at the Clarks townhouse. We had everything we
needed there, and more, and we loved having all the lovely delis and shops
around, which made life much easier, particularly with kids. There were lots of
books and guidebooks and even some toys and books for the children. It
couldn't have been nicer and we would return in a shot. -
The Andersons from California and Kansas, USA
Palo Alto, CAA HIGHLIGHT in our London vacation
Left on 03/11/2010 for a stay in February 2010
Our family of four adults thought that the townhouse’s amenities
helped
reduce traveler's stress. For example, we could come and go as
we liked,
not having to be out of the room for the maid's services,
etc.
The efficient kitchen and dining area provided a welcome
antidote to the
stress of deciding, "where shall we eat?" for every
meal. Small well stocked
grocers and dine-in/takeaway restaurants are
close by and local proprietors
are friendly.
Two bedrooms, a living
room, dining room and kitchen provided enough
comfortable nooks for
four travelers to enjoy alone-time as needed.
A key feature turned
out to be the Internet-connected computer with
wireless access for
additional devices. It was essential for researching and
planning
excursions, catching up on home business, and communicating
with
faraway friends.
Also particularly enjoyable was the booklet which
described many walking
tours in detail, personally previewed by the
owners. Everything we needed
to easily find our way around
London.
We really loved the light, warm, downy duvets! The beds were
very
comfortable, whether one was crashing in exhaustion or wide-awake
with
jet lag. We were also grateful for a deep bathtub to soak
in.
We would definitely recommend this townhouse and hope to
return.

Hanover, NHGreat Stay
Left on 03/08/2010 for a stay in December 2009
"We stayed in the townhouse from Dec. 19, 2009 - Jan 2, 2010. The house
was beautifully appointed and in a great neighborhood. The tube was close as
were all conveniences. The local butcher got us a fresh Turkey for Christmas
dinner, the florist downstairs - a little tree, and we enjoyed great coffee every
morning from the little cafe across the street. On nights we stayed out too late
- the pizza shop downstairs made excellent pizzas - goat cheese and roasted
vegetables was the best. I would highly recommend staying in this home. We
hope to be able to come back again."

This residence was perfect for our family. We loved the interior touches, such as the antique toy soldiers, assortment of guides, and period prints. The townhome is quiet, close to a beautiful park and really large. It was wonderful having the TV location separate from the sitting room -- and also a separate airy kitchen. We did a tremendous amount of sight seeing, very easy to do from this central location. It is close to the best tube line -- and the walks from the residence are also really fun. We'll be back!

New York, NYPerfect Place to Stay
Left on 01/24/2010 for a stay in August 2009
My boyfriend and I stayed in the flat for six nights and were very
happy with our rental experience. The house was impeccably clean and
extremely well maintained. Further, The Clarks left a package for us
detailing the area the home was located in, a list of walks and things
to do and see in London, and other information pertaining to our stay in
the city. We also found in the packet all the information we needed on
the flat, describing the amenities and their uses, etc. Thanks to this
information, our days were easily planned and our stay in the home was
pleasant and trouble-free. The home was also conveniently located; it
took us a very short time to get to Central London, without having to
stay in a noisy neighborhood. The flat itself was extremely cozy and
truly felt more like a home away from home than a rental.
Overall, due
to the comfort of our stay and the quality of the service we received, I
highly recommend this rental to others wishing to visit London. -

Left on 12/05/2009 for a stay in July 2009
We spent a week with our 2 adult sons in this wonderful townhome. Fatijah was wonderful in providing us with trip planning information and ideas. We found the home to be perfect. We were even surprised to find that the sofas turned into sleepers which allowed for our adult sons to have their own space. The convenience to the tube was ideal. We will certainly share this with future travelers to London as well as hoping to return ourselves.

CaliforniaVacation Getaway Meets Cozy Home
Left on 12/03/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We LOVED our time here. It was the perfect blend
of a vacation get-away while also a nice home in
which we felt like we truly belonged there. And
that's how we spent most of our time: not so much
as tourists, but as wanna-be locals. The central
location is key and it's also in a nice neighborhood
close to a couple little downtown areas and an
amazing park.
The layout of the home is very spacious--we didn't
even use every room--but still very cozy. We made
a couple of big dinners, with the windows open to
the street, and took our time cooking different
items from local markets. The bed was very
comfortable and was some great sleeping. And the
couple of lazy mornings spent reading there were
very enjoyable. -

A fabulous holiday in the perfect house: cosy, charming, tastefully decorated, fitted with all the necessary appliances, close to the tube, excellent restaurants and cafeterias. The guide provided by Fatijah was exhaustive and extremely useful as were all the books available in the flat. I loved going home at night after a full day of sightseeing. A holiday to be treasured forever! Thanks Fatijah, you are a wonderful person. Olivia, Jessica and Bruna.

Philadelphia, PAFantastic place, great owners, wonderful experience
Left on 12/01/2009 for a stay in August 2008
This beautiful home was a fantastic experience from start to finish.
Before we even arrived, Fatijah sent us a wealth of information about
the
townhouse and the area, which was a great comfort to us
considering that this was our first time in London. The townhouse is
even prettier than it appears, and is as spacious as described. The
internet connectivity and the free phone calls to the states are
invaluable bonuses as well. The neighborhood is first class and
convenient to everything. My husband especially enjoyed being so close
to the excellent park with its running track. Don't forget your tennis
racquet, and do bring the kids over to the playground! The tube is
just a short walk away, and the Bakerloo line is
convenient to just
about everything. Even the Tower of London (on the east
side of
London) was less than a half hour away. We carried Fatijah's guide
with us everywhere as well as the map of London that she included, and
took many of her suggestions concerning city walks, restaurants, and
places
of interest. After a busy day in the heart of the city, it was
always so nice to
arrive back in the calm comfort of the Maida Vale
neighborhood and the townhouse. I would absolutely recommend this
property to anyone, and I
desperately hope that Fatijah continues to
rent it out for many years to
come, because we would love to visit
again and again.
