Kaiserslautern, GermanyGreat Time in London! Great accomodations plus a Few Travel Tip
Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010
We booked through Danielle Green and were orginally supposed to stay at a different flat. However, the owner of the other flat decided to sell it only a few weeks before our planned New Year's Eve trip. Thankfully, Danielle was able to put us up in Nell Gwynn House apartments in Chelsea. She even paid the difference between the price for the first flat and the new accomodations. I was very happy with the service we received from Danielle. I was really stressed about finding a place so close to New Years, but Danielle took care of everything and made sure we had a place to stay. She answered all my questions very quickly and we will definitely book through her in the future. The studios in Chelsea are excellent and I would recommend them couples looking to enjoy time in London.
Ngh was very comfortable. The room size we had is way too small for four people, but just perfect for my husband and myself. The room had free WiFi and was nice and clean. They even provided an iron, ironing board, and hair dryer. The one complaint I do have about NGH is that the shower water guard is very small and does not go the length of the tub so it's very easy to get water all over the floor when showering. We cleaned up the water with the few towels we were given and left them on the floor thinking the maid would replace them with fresh ones. Instead, he/she just hung them right back up. We got back late and were told we wouldn't be able to get new ones until the morning. Ngh could stand to provide more towels and replace ones that are obviously wet and dirty. Also, if you are staying for a few days, you will need to purchase your own cleaning supplies. There was no dish soap or dish washer detergent for the dishes. If you will be there long enough to do laundry, bring your own detergent. At the very least I wish NGH provided some cleaning supplies. One more thing, you will need to buy all groceries and seasonings. Ngh doesn't even stock salt or pepper in the kitchens. Those are all fairly minor things and certainly not anything that would prevent a return stay. Thankfully Sainburys, a nice fully-stocked grocery store, is located directly across the street. Buying the things you need or forgot is easy and convenient. The prices at Sainsburys are also reasonable.
For those of you with children or bored teenagers, our room had an Xbox 360 video game system, a CD player, Sky TV, and a DVD player in addition to the free wifi so the kids can still entertain themselves. Dominoes Pizza even delivers to the flat.
Chelsea is a wonderful area to stay in. The streets are quiet and safe at night. My husband and I felt comfortable walking back to the flat late at night without fear of being mugged, but be dilligent anyway. Thick curtains and shutters are provided so sleeping in is easy if one wishes to do so. The room is very quiet and we did not hear any noise from any other guests or street noise, and we were on the first floor viewing the street and Starbucks..
The location is great! It is almost perfectly situated between two tube stations. It's about a ten minute walk to South Kensington (District, Circle, Picadilly lines) or Sloane Square (District, Circle). South Kensington is a more direct walking route; whereas Sloan Square requires some zig zagging. London is huge and we did a lot of walking so when the ten-minute walk seemed unbearable, we treated ourselves to a taxi, which is convenient because the taxi stand is located directly in-front of the entrance. We never waited more than three minutes for a taxi. Including tip, it's about £5 to South Kensington Station and €8 to Victoria on non-holidays. From either station you can get pretty much anywhere. If you're going to be near Victoria Tube Station, I highly recommend catching a show. We saw Wicked and loved it. We will see it everytime we return to London. It is that good.
Don't buy the London Card - it's a rip off. It's expensive and doesn't get you in to most of the places you want to go. Instead, get an anytime Rail ticket at the Victoria Tube Station (£7.20 per person) and pick up a 2 for 1 brochure. We were able to use it at the London Eye, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and St. Paul's Cathedral saving us over £50. There were many more places it could be used, but we weren't there long enough to go everywhere. The 2 for 1 deals are the best and are not valid with the London travel card. Only rail tickets, which can be used on the underground tubes and buses also, are valid with the 2 for 1 offers.
We had a fantastic time in London and cannot wait to return. The NGH provided wonderful accomodations and we would definitely stay there again. -

Was a clean flat. However, there were a few things, like the living room light switch that wasn't working and didn't get fixed even when we asked for it to be fixed. It would also be very useful to have a FaQ to refer to, especially for folks who are not from the UK. Overall, the stay was quite comfortable, Danielle was reachable and the front desk was helpful. The location of the flat was quite good. It was opposite a bus stop which was the quickest way to get to South Kensington station - the closest tube station. The station wasn't as close as we would've liked - it is a 10 minute walk. Is OK if you are into walking - I had my elderly parents and so we had to take the bus. The grocery store was also just opposite to the flat - very convenient.
I would recommend this place to anyone else. Danielle was very prompt in responding to emails when I was in the us and also when I was in the UK. -

We ended up in this rental by chance because there was a flood in our original rental (no fault of the agency at all!). The apt was a bit squeezy for 4 people but we were incredibly pleased with the location. We had access to many tube lines and rarely had to change trains once we were underway. There are restaurants and shops easily within walking distance. The unit was clean and well appointed. Only negative I can think of was the street noise when all the windows were open. No problem with noise when closed.

The location of the flat was the best thing about the flat. Also, another good thing about the flat was free internet access. However, the service we received before and during the booking was better than the service we received after we checked out. The bed in the bedroom was not as advertised (advertised as king) and was only a double bed. The bathroom really needs to be updated. The mat in the tub was moldy (we replaced it ourselves) and the toilet seat needs to be replaced. The shower was marginal. There is no way four people could share this flat, it is simply not large enough. There was a washer/dryer, but no instructions as to how to use it. There were no instructions regarding operation of the television or the internet.

This was our first trip abroad so we were delighted when we opened the door and it looked just as expected. It was perfect for the two of us. It's about an 8 min. walk to the South Kensington tube and a bit closer than that to Sloane Square. A market is across the street and lots of restaurants and cafes are nearby. With its nearness to the street there is traffic noise with the windows open but since we were out sightseeing from 10am to 8pm it was never a problem.
Our trip coincided with the volcano so we exchanged several e-mails with Danielle about having to cancel. She was very flexible and willing to extend our cancellation rights if necessary. Fortunately the trip went as planned!

Our flat was spacious and clean and well equipped in terms of linens, dishes and cleaning products. We liked having windows in each room and the cross-ventilation provided. A back room might have eliminated some of the street noise, but we did get used to it. We would have preferred two beds next to each other, but, again, we managed.. Danielle was most helpful and responsive to our needs and we appreciaterd all she did in helping us plan our trip. We would stay at Nell Gwynn House again and have shared this with friends, as well.

We had a wonderful time in this apartment! It is in a great location, a short walk to either of two tube stations, and also within easy walking distance of the V&A, Science, and Natural History Museums, as well as Harrod’s. A big plus was that the owner, Danielle, was so responsive and helpful, both prior to and during our stay. We found the kitchen to be adequate for our cooking needs (and we like to cook!), and we enjoyed having cable TV and a fast wireless internet connection. Highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Owner was very helpful - made sure we had enough air mattresses for our children, got us connected to the internet, and was quick to answer all our questions. Location worked great for us - 8-10 minute walk to the South Kensington tube station which is convenient to all the tourist destinations. Flat is situated in a nice, upscale area. Highly recommend The Thai Restaurant at 93 Pelham Street - delicious.

Los Angeles, CaliforniaPleasant stay in London
Left on 07/21/2010 for a stay in July 2010
My mother and I had a very nice time here. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We found the location very nice. If you don't mind walking, it's a great place to stay. Takes about 45 minutes to walk to Buckingham Palace. But we were lucky enough to be there with beautiful weather. If you are traveling with a wheelchair, the porters are very kind and helpful to assist your entering and exiting the building by putting up a ramp. It's very easy. The only down side is if you are there when it is warm and the windows are open, the street noise is loud at night. But aside from that it was wonderful.

The Good: Danielle Green was my contact, and she could not be nicer. She really tries her best to provide good customer service. She gave us an upgrade to a corner apartment. Check in was less than 60 seconds. You can leave your luggage on check-out day. The location is excellent, between two tube stations, and a bus stop outside the front door if you don't want to walk to the stations. Supermarket nearby. Very clean apartment. Convenient to have a washer/dryer.
The Could-be-Better: London was experiencing a rare "heat wave" (mid 80s F) when we were there. So we could have used air-conditioning, which was advertised but was not in our apartment. The evenings were cooler and we had a fan, which made things tolerable. Our unit could be considered noisy from the street traffic because we were on the first floor. I wore ear plugs to sleep, and they did the trick. The bedroom is small, with a near-king-size bed, so no room for much else outside of the closet. We were only in the apartment for sleeping, so that didn't bother us.
Overall you will get much more in terms of space than what you'd get from a hotel at comparable price.
