vancouverEnjoyed our stay at the Nell Gwynn
Left on 12/16/2011 for a stay in October 2011
After much trepidation, we arrived to find the flat exactly as shown on the Flipkey website. The kitchen was beautiful with updated appliances and cabinets. Sitting room had a pullout futon and cable TV. Washer and dryer, internet access, lots of storage in the bedroom. One downside for us was that the bathroom was not accessible from the living area, only through the bedroom. This was inconvenient when my daughter and friend stayed for a few days.
The building is located in an amazing area, right between two tube stations, Sloane and Kensington. Kensington is a major line for most attractions so this was very convenient. A Starbucks and Sainsburys were right across the street. We had difficulties with the dryer and Danielle Green from London Properties was on it immediately by contacting a service person to make the repair. She was very attentive and ready for all our questions. My only concern with the rental is that we didn't receive the damage deposit for almost 2 months after our departure. Instead of having the deposit put back on my credit card, I received a cheque in British pounds. All in all we enjoyed our week at the Nell Gywnn and would recommend it to others for their stay in London. -

Like most people, we were a bit skeptical about booking our arrangements online.
My husband and I had come to London as the second stop on our honeymoon - we arrived from Paris where we had also stayed at an apartment and had a wonderful experience.
Fortunately, we were lucky once again as any concerns were alleviated once we arrived at the Nell Gwynn House apartment. The flat looked the same as in the photos, with all appliances in working order.
The Chelsea neighbourhood was a fantastic jumping off point to all parts of central London, with many attractions in walking distance (at least for us as we are big strollers), for those that would prefer the tube the apartment is located between two tube stops.
Another great feature, was the proximity to the local Sainsbury's grocery store, so it was easy to get the basics for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The only hiccup was that as other reviewers had pointed out, we were charged the deposit at the same time as our booking. (Thankfully other reviewers had already given us the heads up about this, so we weren't surprised with the same thing happened to us.)
Definitely a nice alternative to a London hotel and the next time we return (as we have both vowed to do) we would be happy to stay there again. -

The location was great with easy access in a few blocks to two tube stations. The rooms were closed off by doors and the bathroom and kitchen had excellent features.

My parents (late 50's and early 60's) and I stayed together in this flat for a week. The flat is small but very well designed, modern and with all mod-cons. When we arrived we checked-in in reception and they gave us the key (easy process).
The flat was very clean and ready to be lived in. For example it had toilet paper, paper towels, liquid soap (kitchen and toilet), even had salt, pepper, coffee and tea, so we didn't need to buy half a kilo of salt for just a week (which would sadly go to waste). There are several cupboards and there you find things like towels, or the washer, toaster, or a blow dryer (all hidden away but there). The bedroom is small with double bed and built-in closet. The toilet is modern and with enough surface and a couple of drawers to put your toiletries. The natural light and ventilation of the bedroom is trough the toilet, as the windows are there. The walls/glass(opaque) that separates the bedroom and toilet let the light trough and there are blinds in the windows in case you want to avoid the light. It is nicely done and the bedroom doesn't feel stuffy or dark. The kitchen-living area was perfectly comfortable for the 3 of us. There is a futon that serves as a sofa during the day and bed at night (I felt it was more comfortable as a bed that as a sofa), a chair, TV, and a table with 4 chairs. The kitchen/living area has big windows to the back of the building which is quiet most of the time (which is good since the front of the building may be too busy, especially if you have to sleep with the windows open in spring or summer). Danielle was the person who managed the renting of the flat to us. We did all via email, from looking for the flat, securing it, and doing the paper work, all straight forward and easy. The flat is in Chelsea, a beautiful area of London, with 2 tube stations a short walk away and many bus routes. It has a village feel with nice pubs&restaurants; close by, and a small supermarket just opposite the building. -

Forster, AustraliaUnsure at first but turned out well

To begin with when I booked the apartment there was some confusion on how much deposit was to be paid, I was not aware that the full amount was going to be deducted plus a 350 pound damage deposit (there was still two months before we stayed there and I was very unsure why the damage deposit had to be paid then and not on arrival). It took quite some time and a few emails to get the damage deposit repaid on to my credit card, hence to say that I did have some trepidation about the accommodation. If you book this accommodation just make sure you know how much money is being deducted. Anyway all worked out well and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Chelsea/London. (Just a note to the cleaners you definitely need to clean under the beds).

Left on 11/17/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We stayed the end of august/first of September; lucked out with great weather for this iffy time of year.
Pros: Great location: conveniently located between two tube stops on a quiet street in a tree lined neighborhood; Starbucks and food market directly across the street; quaint Italian restaurant two blocks behind market that served the best gnocchi I've ever had outside of Naples; easy stroll to Harrod's.
Con: the only real complaint - but a big one - is the bed. It is hard as a rock!! And it is shoved up against the wall (the only way it will work in this tiny room); if the "inside" person wants to get out, they are required to climb over the other person or crawl off the foot of the bed. I wound up sleeping on the futon style sofa (equally hard) and seriously considered checking into a hotel after two nights.Response from London Property Rentals - 11/17/2010

I will pass your comments on to the owner re the bed, it would have been better for you to have mentioned this when you were in London and I could have helped with this issue.

Danielle Green was very helpful by phoning us at home as soon as we had made the enquiry. The flat was in a great location, with great facilities. Free wi-fi. Supermarket across the road. Good coffee shops within a 5 minute walk. The shower is a bit hard to get in and out of. The sh. head is right up the end of the bathtub on the curved part, made it hard to stand under if you are tall.
The bed was only a fold-out, but quite comfortable.
My wife is a reader and found the lack of bed side lamp frustrating. Otherwise very good. All the facilities worked well. We didn't have to pay any bond. We would definitely stay there again.

Left on 08/31/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We stayed here for two weeks during august. The apartment was excellently situated near many local shops and amenities. Only a short walk to Harrods, knightsbridge located just off Kings road.
On arrival the apartment was very clean and well presented. The kitchen and living area were comfortable and modern. However the bedroom is fairly small and the bed could be a little more comfy.
Danielle and Karen were really helpful and I would recommend a stay here and would visit again. -

I had a lovely stay in this flat at Nell Gwynn House. It is a small flat but loaded with amenities. My only wish is that the bed was more comfortable. I was most appreciative of the air conditioning provided during the last few hot days of my stay. I would most definitely stay here again!

Geelong, Victoria, AustraliaChelsea - a great place to stay while in London
Left on 07/22/2010 for a stay in July 2010
The residence was excellent in terms of overall facilities and I was especially grateful for Danielle Green being able to organize for an air-conditioner. London is inevitably hot around this period of time and it can be oppressive and an air-conditioner is highly recommended. The overall positive feature was Danielle. She was excellent in her immediate help and organization and I recommend that others should contact her when staying in London. A quick phone call or e-mail was met with an almost immediate response and she devoted her time to making our stay comfortable. We look forward to using her services with our future regular trips to this great city.

Left on 07/13/2010 for a stay in May 2010
I stayed here in May 2010 with my 79 year-old father. We loved the apartment and would definitely stay here again. The apartment is clean, quiet and centrally-located. We loved having a full kitchen and washer-dryer as well as a grocery store a half a block away. The neighborhood has lots of character and plenty of restaurants to check out. There's also lots of shopping around, including Harrods, which is about a 15 minute walk. Transportation is easy with a bus stop just outside the front door of the building and two tube stops within an 8-10 minute walk. We were pleased with our choice here at the Nell Gwynne. I would highly recommend it.
