Description from the owner
Enjoy city living at its very best. There's a great view of St Paul's Cathedral and 'The Shard' from the corner of the street, 30 seconds away. It's a very short journey by red bus into the West End or Waterloo, for London Eye and Southbank arts quarter.
This large and luxurious apartment blends elegant modernity with original features to create a calm, comfortable environment. Situated in what was formerly a warehouse, now converted to a very high specification, for residential use.
The apartment retains 19th century oak floorboards, tall arched windows and a feature wall reveals the loveliness of the original brickwork. Ample...Read more

Additional Location Information
An excellent, central location in the borough of Islington, five minutes walk from the border with City of London. It's a quick and easy journey to/from the West End (c.12mins) or to Waterloo (for the arts quarter of Suthbank).
This is one of the most historic parts of London. The name Clerkenwell derives from Clerk's Well, the clergymen's water supply, drawn up on Farringdon Lane from the 12th to15th centuries. In the 17th c., Oliver Cromwell owned a house in Clerkenwell Close. Early in 20th c.,Vladimir Lenin (who lived nearby) and Josef Stalin would meet in The Crown & Anchor pub on Clerkenwell Green. In literature, Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist had his first fateful meeting with Fagin on that same Green. Charles Dickens also lived hereabouts. His home survives as a museum in his name.
Today, Clerkenwell is well-known for fine dining (many of Londons best restaurants are here) and excellent design (designers of everything from furniture to fashion live and work in the neighbourhood). Fabric, the largest nighclub in London, is also in the area.

ValparaisoI´d definitely stay here again
Left on 01/27/2013 for a stay in September 2012
This place is big, very nicely furnished and clean. The bed was really comfortable and we slept well. The wifi connection is good and fast. We stayed 2 weeks and after 1 week, the apartment was cleaned and the sheets and towels were changed. It's a great place to stay.
We landed early in the morning and Big Red London arranged a special early check-in for us, which we really appreciated. Our check-in advised us to move around town by on the buses and not to bother with the underground trains. That was good advice. For example, to the beginning of Oxford Street only took about 5 minutes by bus. You could walk it if you like walking. It took 15 minutes on the bus to London Eye.
If I was coming back to London again, I´d definitely want to stay in this apartment again.Response from Big Red London Apartments - 04/09/2013

ItalyBeautiful apartment!!
Left on 01/24/2013 for a stay in January 2013
"There are many very good things about this apartment but because I was in London in January, best of all, I liked the fact that the apartment was always warm, even though the weather outside was very cold. It was a really comfortable place to come back to. Also, I felt very safe staying here. This mattered to me as a woman on my own."

It really was cold in January 2013, wasn't it? We are so glad to learn that you felt warm safe and comfortable staying in Clerkenwell. Thank you very much for taking the time to review the apartment, Maria.

SydneyGreat place in a great part of London
Left on 09/22/2012 for a stay in March 2012
The good folk at Big Red were fantastic, everything went as per planned and I felt well looked after.
The place itself was fabulous not only in terms of location but also quality of furnishings and facilities.
One of my favourite things about the place was it is close to both interesting restaurants & bars and all the regular shops for day to day living.Response from Big Red London Apartments - 04/09/2013

Great apartment but absolutely terrible window furnishings
Left on 09/10/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Good sized apartment, great location but there are only bamboo matchstick blinds on all windows, so at night the apartment opposite lights shine into the bedroom and in the morning as soon as the suns up, it's very very very light in the bedroom. If you need a room to sleep in that's anywhere near dark, then don't stay here, we stayed for three weeks and didnt have a good nights sleep for our entire stay! The agent was understanding about our needs and had even purchased a block out blind to install but apparently the owner did not want it installed, so having paid upfront for the apartment, we had no option but to continue staying here, being very very sleep deprived. If the window furnishings were fixed I could highly recommend this apartment, as its nicely furnished, has adequate kitchen equipment (some wine glasses would be nice) was clean, safe and in a great area (lots of restaurants & cafes nearby, easy flat walk to tube station, walking distance to central London)

Westminster, CA, USA3 weeks of excellence
Left on 11/28/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Can't say enough about this residence. It was amazing. For a 3 week stay, the bed is a very important piece of furniture...and it was great. The place is very spacious. Full laundry and kitchen was invaluable. Loved that Clerkenwell is a bit out of the most touristy places. Nice and quiet. Loved the pub just 20 steps away, "Betsy Trotwood."
Farringdon tube station is a very short walk away. This is a can't miss location, and the personnel at Big Red London were very helpful and courteous.Response from Big Red London Apartments - 12/09/2011

RosaBonheur
ShetlandDesigner Flat
Left on 09/25/2011 for a stay in September 2011
The flat was beautifully fitted out and is extremely roomy and comfortable by London standards. I liked it because the interior suited my allergies, thus it had little to hold allergens, with bare wooden floors and very little textiles. The full kitchen has really good appliances, including nice washing machine with dryer! The pots and pans weren't brilliant but it had all you need with both Waitrose and Tescoes within 10 min walk for food. The agency provided excellent service. I was unlucky in that I was there when building works started unexpectedly and the boiler was broken so I didn't have heat. They provided portable heaters which did the trick and bent over backwards to try to accommodate my needs regarding the building works. Originally I was going to travel with a friend, so for two people it would have served us really well, with one on the sofa bed. For me as a solo traveller the extra room was a welcome luxury! The location suited me extremely well as I had work in both Central London and the East End. Tube stations are within walking distance as are several choice bus routes. I travelled from Heathrow, which to my surprise was very convenient. And if, like me, you are travelling with suitcases, you can take the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow to Kings Cross where you can get to street level by lifts and then a short, reasonably priced taxi ride to the flat where there is also a lift, although a couple steps in the lobby to get to it. I would definitely stay here again.

The boiler was replaced the week after RosaBonheur stayed in the apartment so there should be no more problems with the central heating, thankfully.
We are really glad that you enjoyed staying in the apartment, RosaBonheur, and we look forward to welcoming you back next time. It really IS a beautiful apartment in a really great location. Thank you for your review.
