Additional Location Information
Waterloo is a district of London, England, and part of the London Borough of Lambeth. It is situated 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Charing Cross. The area is part of a business improvement district known as Waterloo Quarter, which includes The Cut and the Old Vic and Young Vic theatres, including some sections in the London Borough of Southwark.
The area was marshland towards the northern tip of the ancient parish of Lambeth. It was known as Lambeth Marshe, but was drained in the 18th century and is remembered in the Lower Marsh street name.
Waterloo is connected to the Strand area on the north bank of the River Thames by Waterloo Bridge. The first bridge on the site was opened in 1817 and the current bridge was opened in 1945. The bridge was named to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Waterloo Road also dates from this time, built on land belonging to the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Church of St John the Evangelist, Waterloo Road was constructed from 1822 by the Commissioners for Building New Churches as the population of the parish of Lambeth had significantly increased. After the opening of Waterloo railway station in 1848 the locality around the station and Lower Marsh became known as Waterloo.

torontoFabulous spot for a family looking to explore London
Left on 12/24/2011 for a stay in December 2011
We were a group of 4 adults and a newborn travelling from London and planning to link up with our parents in London for a few days. After a two week long online search for a decent apartment within London City (that wasn't a scam) I stumbled upon Boutique London Lets. From the very start they were extremely helpful and prompt in answering my many questions (only concern is that over the course of the week I received emails from about 7 different people - they were all upto speed on the booking and queries so no real concern, just a bit weird that each email was from someone different but from the same email address) . They also had the best rates online for what we were looking for.
My parents weren't sure of their ability to join us so it wasn't till after we checked in that we found out that they would indeed join us. The staff had left two roll away beds for us to use incase they did join us and we were easily able to arrange the beds for the one night they were with us and a late checkout (easily paid through google checkout).
The apartment was fantastic, with extra linen, kitchen items and general household items available for our use. The location couldn't be better, we were about a 10min walk from Waterloo Station which is a central hub for most subway lines. For the most part we walked everywhere from the waterfront (excellent restaurants and a great German Christmas fair was on when we were there) to Big Ben, London Eye (15 mins walk), Churchill War Museum (20 min walk), Cathedral (20 min walk) etc. We are used to walking so for us it was easy enough! The Lambeth north station is around the corner (5 mins walk) but we preferred the Waterloo one. There is a sailsbury supermarket across the Waterloo station and we stocked up on cereal, juice etc for a quick breakfast before heading out for our day. The dish washing soap was out so I picked up a bottle(not a big deal it was only about $3).
The apartment had a wifi, a washing machine (no dryer though which was annoying), a hair dryer & dishwasher. There was a tv and music system but we didn't have any time to use those.
Only improvements I would suggest is the key delivery system - we called the cab company when we left the restaurant (5 min walk away) but they told us we had to call once we were outside the apartment. When we got to the apartment there was no phonebox or office for us to call from so we had to use our mobiles (roaming charges). The key delivery was very fast - took about 5 mins) but it was annoying that we had to use our phones when we had called earlier from the restaurant down the street. The clocks in the apartments could use batteries -again not a big deal. The walls in the apartment definitely need a new coat of paint, that was the one thing that I wasn't pleased about - other wise everything was clean and the linen and carpets were clean.
the 6 of us were quite comfortable in this apartment. as the living room had enough space for the two beds without obstructing the couch area. Mind you we were only there for 3 nights, 4 days and were out most days , stopping in during the day for quick breaks and shopping drop offs.
Once you book the apartment they send you a super detailed pdf outlining all the various details.
p.s- bathrooms had a 110 shaver outlet too! great for me as I was able to use my pump to ensure the baby was easily fed throughout the day!Response from Boutique London Lets - 12/29/2011

Thank you very much for the thorough and thoughtful review. We're very happy to see that for the most part, it was a very enjoyable time.
We typically have no issues with our key delivery system, but we do appreciate the feedback as it sounds like more refining is needed. We'll certainly consider this suggestion.
Thanks again, and don't forget that we also offer 5% loyalty discounts to all returning guests! -

This is a very comfortable, spacious and clean apartment equipped with everything you would possibly need for any length of time, including a dishwasher and washing machine. It's perfect for travel with older children (my teenager really appreciated having his own bathroom) or as a group. It's under 10 minutes walk from Waterloo Station, so extremely central, and there's a bus stop virtually opposite with frequent services into town. The only slight drawback is the traffic noise which goes with such a central location and woke me up a few times on the first night - but I am a very light sleeper and you do get used to it very quickly. All in all a highly enjoyable stay - look forward go going back soon.

This apartment was very clean and fully equiped. The unit was as nice as we expected from the information on the websit. We bought groceries a few steps from the unit and had breakfast there every morning during our four night visit. The location was a few blocks from the nearest tube station, but very managable. The area felt safe.

We were very pleased with our stay in the Chrome apartment. It was set up in a way that provided privacy to each bedroom/bath area and a spacious common area with modern kitchen, dining space and living room with ample seating for relaxing and spending time together at the end of each day. We were able to walk to all the sites on the South Bank and over the Millenium bridge many times to get to other sites. We were also very close to all the public transportation. There was a little street noise at night from traffic and an occasional ambulance. We were very satisfied with our stay and would recommend the apartment.

Pluses: Clean, comfortable, nice view from one window, all rooms well-lit, nice fixtures, excellent facilities for staying at home or ins-and-outs (wifi, TV, elevator). Quick and caring in-house repair service (for a minor inconvenience in the cooking area). Well connected to public transport; pleasant local environment (food shops, pubs), close to cultural centres and restaurants (South Bank, only 5 mins. away).
Minuses: a somewhat complicated mechanism for check-in, entailing a certain delay.Response from Boutique London Lets - 08/22/2011

Nice 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths, convenient that it had a washing machine so we could pack light. Kitchen was perfect for cooking breakfast and dinner each day, although it could have better equipment (pots/pans). Phone did not work for first few days, but management handled it by the 3rd day of our stay. Very convenient location, close to bus, tube, or even walk to most of the sights. Quiet location even being on first floor-safe, residential neighborhood to walk around. Full grocery store just a short bus ride and walk to. Two large bedrooms was nice and able to accommodate our family of 5 with a rollaway bed in addition to 2 double/queen beds. Wi/fi was great to have to plan out sightseeing!

Mom, Dad and two older teen boys stayed here for a week. We couldn't have asked for a better place, esp. for the price. The apartment had everything we needed-kitchen for the boys and their need for lots of food, 2 bathrooms, close to the tube, lots of space to get away from each other after a day of sightseeing togetherness, close to stores, restaurants and activities. The apartment was clean, quiet and easy access. After searching all the websites and then wondering if I had gotten a place that would be right for us and the boys I was so pleasantly surprised. A lot of people may get nervous about going "over the river" but this place was actually better than staying out in the areas right around the heart of London. We could walk to the Tower of London and the Westminster abbey. 3 tube stations within walking distance and the Imperial War Museum around the corner. When we go back to London, this will be "our spot."

Was very apprehensive about staying in an apartment at first (wanted to stay in a hotel). However I was pleasently surprised by the Chrome apartment. It was comfy and there was the space for the five of us to truly relax after a day traipsing the streets of London, and not just a cramped hotel bedroom. Close by to the apartment there were a couple of good take aways and a fish and chip restaurant. It was very convenient to eat close to 'home' or pick a good take away. Will definitely stay there again.
