Sir Henry Cole (1808–1892), the first Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum, lived at 33 Thurloe Square just opposite the museum. The building is marked with a blue plaque. A short distance takes you to the fashionista and gourmet paradise of Harrods, and the exclusive shops, boutiques and restaurants of Knightsbridge. Alternatively a similar walk takes you south to the many attractions of the trendy King’s Road area. Buses, Tube trains and taxis are plentiful for access to the West End and all parts of the city.
