    Additional Location Information

Westminster is an area of central London, within the City of Westminster, England. It lies on the north bank of the River Thames, southwest of the City of London and 0.5 miles (0.8 km) southwest of Charing Cross. It has a large concentration of London's historic and prestigious landmarks and visitor attractions, including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Cathedral, and Westminster Abbey.

Historically a part of Middlesex, the name Westminster was the ancient description for the area around Westminster Abbey – the West Minster, or monastery church, that gave the area its name – which has been the seat of the government of England (and later the British government) for almost a thousand years. Westminster is the location of the Palace of Westminster, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which houses the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

The historic core of Westminster is the former Thorney Island on which Westminster Abbey was built. The Abbey became the traditional venue of the coronation of the kings and queens of England. The nearby Palace of Westminster came to be the principal royal residence after the Norman conquest of England in 1066, and later housed the developing Parliament and law courts of England. It can be said that London thus has developed two distinct focal points: an economic one in the City of London; and a political and cultural one in Westminster, where the Royal Court had its home. This division is still very apparent today.

      Great Location, Wonderful Stay

Left on 05/21/2013 for a stay in May 2013

A friend and I stayed in the Victoria two bedroom flat for a week in May. This was the first time that I have rented a flat in London, and I will surely rent again from BLL.

Location: 5 minute walk from Buckingham Palace, two minute walk from Victoria Station. 2 minute walk from Bag O' Nails pub. This is a very safe area, lots of police and cameras, and very tourist friendly. Only drawback is the huge construction site across the street. We were up and about every day early so the noise did not bother us. The flat is three floors up so watch how much you put in your luggage!

Amenities: There are hairdryers available as well as a small amenities kit with shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body lotion. You also get four bath towels and four fingertip towels. Tv, DVD, and MP3 dock all worked fine. Kitchen has a dishwasher! There is a small washer for your laundry too. We ate in the flat only a few nights but everything you need is there - including bottle opener for your wine. Free WI/FI!!! Hooray!

Living: Beds were very comfortable and linens are quite nice. I passed out on the couch too so I guess that's comfy as well. The voluminous instructions made it easy to find the flat and gain access. Also, you can check your luggage at Victoria Station (by platform 8) if you arrive much earlier than access time for the flat. Keycodes make it very easy to get in.

In all, we thought this was a terrific deal. When I return to London I will not bother with a hotel because I enjoyed staying in the flat so much.

Well located, clean and comfortable duplex near the Palace and V

Left on 04/20/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We arrived and found the entry instructions simple and accurate, and the cleaner was just leaving, having left the place immaculate. The two bedrooms were very pleasant and as they were upstairs we heard no sounds whatsoever from neighbours in the building (there was traffic noise but this is central London and this didn't interfere with sleep). The kitchen was perfect and we used it for breakfast, and though we planned to cook in the evening, just never got round to it. The sofa bed was not great but was fine for an unfussy teenaged to sleep on.
Two bathrooms made getting out quickly in the morning much more efficient, and Victoria tube is 5 minutes away with a useful M&S; open 'til midnight for essential supplies. Buck House is very close by and we enjoyed being tourists there for an hour or so, and chatted to the very nice staff at the Royal Mews museum. The West End and Westminster were walkable via The mall or Birdcage Walk, and this part of London felt rich in history and tradition, well-connected and, well, rather posh with its distinguished neighbours (in Windsor while we were there, alas).
This flat was perfect for us, and we were relieved to find it clean, well-equiped, easy to check in, well-located, warm, pretty quiet (considering) and a great base for a hectic weekend in town. Recommended.

      Perfect Location

Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in December 2012

The rental company, Boutique London Lets, was helpful and always replied within an hour to my emails. The keyless entry allowed us to check in without hassle or delay. The flat was in the perfect location, close to Victoria Station, St James park, Buckingham Palace, London Eye, Hyde Park, Leicester Square, etc. We saved a lot of money by being close enough to walk to many attractions.

The flat is not meant to provide a good view (we were surrounded by brick walls, or buildings being worked on), but it was quiet, clean, in a fantastic location, and it was private. The only other thing is, it was on the 3rd level, which was roughly 6 flights of stairs. We had a lot of luggage, but other than that, the stairs were in no way an issue. If someone had physical restrictions, this may not be the place for them.

The flat had everything we needed. We had a fantastic stay, and when we return, we will try to get this flat again.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review. We are extremely pleased to hear that you enjoyed the apartment and that it was a "perfect location".

Most satisfying, as well, to hear that you were responded to within 60 minutes of whatever e-mails you were sent. Our 24/7 support team work very hard to make sure that any and all concerns and questions are answered - it's nice to see confirmation and acknowledgment of this. You do also raise an excellent point about the stairs - indeed, without a lift, this apartment is not so well-suited to certain parties.

Nonetheless, we would love to host your next stay. Please do be in touch with us when it's time to plan your return visit to London - we offer a 5% discount to all returning guests, and we would be honored to host your next stay!

      Fantastic location!

Left on 09/24/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Our family had a wonderful time staying in this 2-bedroom flat in London. Although the space in the bedrooms and bathrooms is a little tight, the rest of the flat is extremely roomy for London. The kitchen seemed to be nicely accommodated although we did not cook anything but breakfast. Cable and wifi were included, which was nice. My only initial disappointment was that the flat is located on a somewhat noisy street with lots of busses. However, the double-paned windows did block out almost all of the noise. The best part of this flat is its location!!! We walked everywhere...the Palace, Hyde Park, Westminster abbey, the London Eye -- and it's only a block away from a tube entrance. There are tons of great restaurants nearby as well as theaters too.

Many thanks for your review; we're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Yes, the flat is very central, which is a bit of a double-edged sword, as it relates to noise; even with double-paned windows, as you've mentioned, it is still somewhat evident. However, the tradeoff being that you can get to London's most famous attractions by foot is worth it for most.

Thanks again - please do be in touch with us for your next visit to London. We offer a wide array of Zone 1 dwellings and we do offer returning guests a 5% loyalty discount.

I rented this flat for family visiting London for the first time and was very impressed by the condition of the flat! Location is great, just a stonethrow from the heart of London, and close to communications. Certainly better value for money than booking a hotel which does not have any space to sit down and plan the adventures of the day. A definite recommend!

We are Spanish and went to London for the Olimpics Games and a little tourism for my children, the location is perfect. Victoria Station train, tube and coach is less than 1 min walking.
The best for me was to find just what I expected. The worst it is a second flat floor without elevator.

There are indeed stairs for some of the apartments which are spread across the first, second; and split level third floors but we are pleased that going up and down the two floors was the only blemish on your trip.

Some of the drawbacks of the place:
      - did not receive a second set of keys
      - difficult leaving keys in secured box when we left
      - minimum number of towels for 5 people with no wash cloths
      - no directions to work washing machine
      - dryer portion of the machine did not work
      - do not understand the issue of checking in at 2 PM vs 2:30 PM.
      - smell in the hallway.
      - need table so phone doesn't need to be on the floor.
      - Apartment location was very good. Amenities

Thank you for your considered feedback. It does seem that there were indeed some issues which meant that your stay was not as enjoyable as it could have been and for this we are sorry.

Our apologies for the lack of a second set of keys, this is very rare and will not happen again. Indeed as of September all our guests staying in the Victoria apartment can look forward to keyless entry with a unique code for the duration of their stay, thereby removing the hassle of keys. The washing machine was in fact faulty and has since been replaced - we are sorry for this inconvenience.

Thank you for the otherwise positive feedback about the location and amenities and we hope you will give us another chance to impress you with the 5% discount for returning guests.

      Great location

Left on 07/04/2012 for a stay in June 2012

The service was reliable. It would have been nice if we had been given an overview of the area. We had no idea where to find groceries, to eat, etc. Fortunately we had wifi and were able find these amenities.

The place was perfect for four people. We were comfortable. The front bedroom is on Buckingham Palace Rd and until fairly late at night is a very noisy street. It was difficult to have the window open, yet too warm with it closed. I would have preferred to know this before I rented the property.

The location was very central. It was an easy walk to some sights and the Victoria Tube was a 5 minute walk from the flat.

I would recommend this flat with the caveat that the front bedroom is noisy and if you are a light sleeper you will have difficulty sleeping.

Thank you for your considered feedback. It seems that the noise was the one impediment to transforming your stay from good to great.

As you say the location is second to none and is very much in the heart of central London. As one of the world's busiest and most popular cities it is somewhat of a trade-off between location and tranquility. We try and do everything to ensure the apartments are equipped to facilitate the utmost comfort of our guests through the provision of fans. There are though a handful of days that are too hot in London, and even us locals have a tough one with that, but these are (un)fortunately few and far between.

We hope to welcome you back and will endeavour to boost your experience to 4/5 stars.

We stayed at the 2 bedroom Victoria apartment in May 2012 and couldn't have asked for a better location or a better price for a rental of this size. The apartment was a block from the nearest tube station and a short walk from a few sites. The beds were surprisingly comfortable for Europe too!

The only downside was there were a lot of stairs. After long days of sightseeing around London, we had to come back to the apartment and climb a few flights of stairs. However, with a bottle of wine in hand each night, it gave us motivation to get up there and relax.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the European beds - and the European wine no doubt! And thrilled that you enjoyed the Victoria apartment generally.

Unfortunately this building does not have a lift. It is over 100 years old and as such there is no provision for such things. Our highest apartment in this building is accessed from the 3rd floor (and split over the 3rd and 4th floor). Lifts are certainly ideal, but we hope the stairs didn't impinge on your holiday too badly.

"We spent a week in the apartment of victory, which was fine.
Although ordered a couple of pans and we provided them,
then one night at 3 am break alarm (with an unbearable noise) and he spent over an hour without stopping ...
I'm still waiting for an explanation of why it started and because no one told us how to stop it."

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at the apartment and that the service to your requests was prompt. We are sorry that you experienced an issue with the alarm, and even more sorry that we did not get back to you with an explanation. I will send you an email about this now.

For all future guests considering staying with us this was a highly unusual occurrence which was caused by a someone accidentally breaking the fire alarm glass. We have not had this happen before and do not envisage it happening again anytime soon.

We hope you enjoyed the apartment enough to consider staying with us again and extend a 5% discount to all returning guests.

We spent a week at the Victoria 2 Bedroom apt.and it was perfect. We were visiting our daughter who is attending Oxford and doing some site seeing. First off the location is incredible! So central we could walk to most places, but Victoria Station is less than a block away when needed. Had a little problem the day before arrival and another upon arrival in London but both were handled quickly and professionally and that is what was most impressive. Emails and phone calls were immediately addressed and returned with answers and resolutions. The apartment was nice and clean and had all of the features described. We completely enjoyed our visit and hope to return in the future.
