comfortable, well located, clean, quiet, spacious, well-equipped

Left on 05/16/2013 for a stay in April 2013

Easy to reach, in 50 min by tube from Heathrow. The city center is 10 min far by tube and the tube stop is around the corner. Museums area nearby and so close to Kensington Gardens. Easy online booking and efficient reception. The apartment was spotlessly clean, well above the UK standard! Well equipped kitchen, everything works perfectly, fast wifi, very comfortable bed (not so for the sofa bed, the only negative point). Take a ride in Brompton Cemetery nearby to jog or to feed the squirrels! We do recommend this flat.

      Thank you Brompton House

It was really a very nice experience to stay at one of Brompton House apartments for 2 months. The team is very helpful, very polite and friendly. The flat was of good size; they cleaned my apartment every week and supplied all necessary appliances for a comfort stay. Also the location is very good near transport lines by busses and underground. I would recommend them to everyone; their price is good and the flat was good value for money. Thank you Brompton House.

      Great apartment in great location

Left on 09/14/2012 for a stay in November 2011

I stayed here with a friend and I was very impressed with the duplex style of the apartment that give us both space, especially the two bathrooms. The managers were very friendly and did everything to make our stay comfortable. The apartment is just off a main road but it is an easy walking distance to nice shops, restaurants and cinemas in both directions and just a short 5 min walk to the District Line Tube Station. Its location also means it is quiet at nighttime. It was also really useful to have a proper kitchen especially when wanting a break from eating out, and economical as London is not the cheapest place for eating and driking.

      Home away from home

Left on 09/03/2012 for a stay in July 2012

My wife and I have stayed in two flats ("The Patio" and a standard one bedroom) at Brompton House -- both were extremely clean, newly renovated to a high standard, and comfortable. We had only positive experiences with the management and staff. These are self-catering short-term rentals, particularly ideal for people who need to spend several days or weeks near central London. For us, that makes it perfect and so much better than a hotel, but they do not offer a hotel experience with lifts, room service, 24 hour desk and so on. Instead you get a sense that you are part of London. You get privacy, comfort, and high quality fixtures and fittings, and of course the ability to enjoy the comforts of an apartment: fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher and dishes, a small table to eat at, laundry machines, and so on. It really is a small home away from home. Even better than at home: the cleaner comes once a week, and does a very thorough job with a charming smile :-)

We found the management and their staff extremely accommodating, professional, and friendly. They do seem to be generally only available during business hours, but this is a function of the type of accommodations they offer. Think rental flats, not hotel (thankfully they do take credit cards).

The location is also excellent. Major shopping ares in Kensington, Fulham, and Hammersmith are each within a 30 minute walk or less. A large Tesco is about 10 minutes walk away (and since you have a kitchen, you'll be happy to have a real full-sized Tesco). Tube connections towards Kew and central London are both excellent and very nearby. There are pubs, chicken shop, kebab shop, off license, a little gourmet-style pizza shop, and coffee shops, all within a block. It's about 5 minutes to a good chippy to the right on North End road where there are several Indian restaurants as well (we liked Indian Star).

We chanced upon Brompton House when another flat rental turned out to be completely unacceptable, and thankfully Brompton House had a vacancy. We checked it out in person before booking and did not hesitate for a second once we saw it. We have stayed in several places in London over the past decade, and we can't think of a better recommendation than saying that Brompton House is now the place we turn to first.

After writing this, I wish I could get back right away!

modern but comfy clean apartment with all essentials.

Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The apartment we booked was smaller than the one shown on-line but we were upgraded for free to a two bedroom and it was in a great location. It was very clean and comfortable and had all the amenities listed in the info.It was a very short walk to the bus route we needed but longer to the tube. The only negatives were no lift so quite a few stairs to climb and a bit noisy into the early hours at street level.

      Management was horrible

Left on 07/09/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We arrived in London, at their office, after 18 hours of flying only to find an office that was closed. No sign was on the door. We got several people, including a police officer to call their office number for us and they only received a general recorded message. After waiting several hours outside their office with our luggage, thinking we were scammed, we walked to a nearby hotel to secure lodging. While we were there, we used their wi-fi internet access to check my email. I found that they sent me an email at 1:00am our time, just 3 hours before we left for the airport to catch our flight to London. In their email they changed the location of the key pick-up. They said I would have to pick up the apartment key from a limousine business located a half-mile away from their office. My family and I walked to the limo business with our luggage in tow.

After picking up the key, we walked another half-mile to find the apartment. That was just too much stress to start our European vacation. This was unbelievably unprofessional. I would not recommend this company to anyone!

Arriving at the apartment, we found a nice unit, but no one was there to meet us. We had to figure out how to turn on and operate everything ourselves, ridiculous! In their email, they said they upgraded us to a two bedroom unit. To be fair to them, the unit was quite nice. The exception is the paintings on the wall. One of which depicted a man blowing his brains out with a gun, bizarre. Their info booklet in the room listed a wrong wi-fi log in. I eventually found a card which listed the correct wi-fi log in.

Don't deal with this property management company. Unreliable and unprofessional!

      Response from bromptonhouse - 09/03/2012

      Owner

      Dear Nathan Chung,

We are always sorry to hear when a visitor is unhappy however we do feel that it’s important to set the record straight when necessary.

We are very surprised to read your disingenuous posting and your claim that we behaved in an unprofessional manner simply because you attended the wrong address for check in. We have corresponded with you about this and as you know the facts are altogether at odds with your statement.

Had you called at our office or the correct check in point, you would have found staff in attendance and there would have been no problem. The fact is that you called at another uknown address, not even the check in point we advised you to attend, hence no signage confirming the address of the correct office.

It rather seems that because we did not agree to a free stay as a form of compensation, you feel driven to misinform visitors to FlipKey by exaggerating the history of your early arrival and attempted check in at the wrong location.

We recognise that overseas visitors may get lost or need assistance in London and that is why we ask for a telephone contact number. You chose not to provide us with one.

We have discussed in emails what happened after you called at the incorrect address. You made just one telephone call to our office and rang off without leaving a message. Far from being unprofessional, it’s normal business practice to have a voice mail system to assist callers when our operators are on the telephone. Our voice mail system offers the facility to leave a message. All our calls are logged, timed and recorded.

When you first contacted us (at 22.24hrs the following evening - some 31 hours after you had moved into the apartment) we checked our phone system. We had just one missed call showing the number of the hotel next to our office. During this call (and we can only guess it was from you) the caller did not speak on the message system even to leave a name or number. As a result we were unaware of any problem and were unable to return the call. We received no calls whatsoever from the “several passersby” or the Police you say you stopped in the street and quite frankly we find this part of your assertion fanciful.

As a separate issue and contrary to what you say, we believe that we replied to your last email before you travelled to London in a timely fashion. Any delay can only be attributed to the difference in time zones. We clearly advised you of the FREE upgrade from a One Bedroom apartment to a Two Bedroom apartment for the comfort of your family at no extra cost to you. We advised where to collect keys and how to complete the check in formalities. We also explained that a driver would be on site to take you to the apartment if required.

Your check in was at 15.00hrs. Our colleague handed you keys for the apartment well before that time. You declined his offer of transport to the apartment, although this is only 2 streets away so it’s not unusual for guests to walk the short distance. Nonetheless assistance was offered so it’s rather unfair of you to suggest you had to suffer the stress of a long walk and as a result should stay in London for free.

Our guests’ satisfaction is important to us. For this reason we tried to meet with you to discuss the issue you raised and your request for compensation. It is interesting that you make no reference of this in your “travel report”

Neither do you mention that you refused 3 offers of a meeting which would have taken just a few minutes. You claimed you were too busy to speak with us. Quote: “Why do you need to talk to me in person?” “I do not want to be disturbed on my vacation.” “Nothing more needs to be discussed.”

Nonetheless you did find considerable time while in the apartment to send us emails reiterating your only request which was for a free stay at our apartment as compensation for an alleged late check in, even though you checked in at the normal check in time of 15.00hrs.

Please be assured that we do take legitimate complaints most seriously.

The apartment guide details all our guests need to know about the apartments workings. We are sorry that you found the art work in the apartment unsettling and misunderstood the pictures content. It is clearly not of a person doing what you suggest and there self evidently no gun. Brompton House champion local artists and regularly receive both compliments and offers to buy the paintings we exhibit for them.

We are of course delighted to hear that you liked the apartment and that you appreciated the FREE upgrade. We are surprised at the 2 stars awarded for management and note the 4 stars you have awarded us for Service.
