Additional Location Information
West London’s Notting Hill has a personality as confused as the wares on display at its Portobello Market. On the one hand, the area once famed for its genteel sensibility, as the rows of Georgian townhouses and fashionable Westbourne Grove attest. On the other hand, it plays host to an enticing alternative culture, as well as a lively Caribbean diaspora, whose annual Carnival throngs with upwards of a million Londoners, all seeking the festival’s colourful floats and flavours. The event demonstrates that Notting Hill commands a rich variety beyond its portrayal in the 1999 Grant/Roberts picture. Holland Park is itself an enormous (54-acre) wooded wildlife park built around the ruins of Holland House. The House was bombed in 1940 during the Blitz, but today hosts the summertime opera outfit, Opera Holland Park. The park itself is edged by some of the finest real estate in London.

Wellington, New ZealandExcellent apartment. Exactly as described on the website & great
Left on 11/14/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We were very pleased with both the apartment & the exceptionally service that we received from Ivy Lettings. Inevitably there were a few questions on arrival. For example, the heating was off and the apartment was cold when we arrived on a Saturday night. One phone call to Ivy and within minutes we located the heating controls & had the system working. A couple of very minor failures of equipment were promptly fixed by Ivy's handyman.
The apartment is exactly as described on the website. It is bright, clean and well furnished. We stayed for a month & we were very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will be returning to London in a few weeks and would have been very happy to stay here again. Unfortunately this apartment is not available but we have rebooked with Ivy Lettings.
The flat looks on to the end of another street so there are no obstructions. As a result the living space is beautifully light and the high ceiling makes it a pleasure to be in the apartment.
From looking at the location on Google maps, we were a little apprehensive about the proximity to Westway and possible noise. We can assure any prospective guest that traffic noise is not a problem, and the street is very quiet.
The location is outstanding. Nearest tube station, Westbourne Park, is 4 minutes' walk. Circle line takes you to Baker Street in 12 minutes or to Kensington in 15 minutes. One of the best shopping malls in Europe is close by Wood Lane tube station, ten minutes away on the Circle Line going west. One can walk to Portobello Road market in 8 minutes and Notting Hill is about 15 minutes walk. There are plenty of restaurants and a huge variety of shops within a radius of 15 minutes walk. A special mention goes to "Mike's Café" in Blenheim Crescent and "Granger" on Westbourne Grove. Mike's is down to earth, exceptional value and good quality. Granger is beautiful quality and priced accordingly. The service at both is very good.Response from Ivy Lettings - 12/03/2012
