This comfortable first floor flat is located in a period house in the heart of Pimlico and benefits from a small balcony off the sitting room. The sitting room is light and bright with sofa, armchairs, fireplace, bookshelves and dining table. The compact kitchen has fridge, oven, and hob (stove top). There is NO washer/dryer or dishwasher. I stayed at alderney St for 3 weeks in May-June 2012. The location is excellent; it's a five minute walk from Victoria station which is so convenient for the tube, buses, Gatwick Express and regional trains. The street was quiet and very pretty and there are supermarkets close by at Victoria station and on Lupus Street.
The flat was surprisingly nice inside; it far exceeded what we expected based on the photos. The decor is somewhat dated but very clean and comfortable. The living room has a couch, arm chairs and a 4-seat table; the two big ceiling-to-floor windows which make the room really light and airy. There is a small balcony which looks onto alderney Street which is good for drying clothes. The wi-fi is fast and included in the price and there is a TV.
The kitchen is tiny but there is a fridge, kettle, microwave and stove. The size of the kitchen makes self-catering a bit impractical but it wouldn't be impossible and for storing and preparing breakfast and lunch food it was fine.
The bathroom is carpeted which takes some getting use to, and quite small, but adequate. The shower head is a detachable one and there was no fixture for it on the wall which made showering a bit hard; but we bought a fixture that suctioned to the mirror behind for it for it for 2 pounds from a pound-shop and it did the job and left no marks.
There are two small bedrooms; a twin and a double. The beds are really comfortable and there is plenty of storage. Clean linen gets delivered weekly; you have to change it yourself and leave the dirty linen to be collected.
One downside, particularly for longer stays, is that there's no washing machine or dryer. However there are two laundromats 500m away so washing was easy. There is an iron.
The flat is small and not very modern, but given the perfect location, it was great value for the price. It would easily accomodate a small family or 4 people (as long as two are happy to share a bed). We were very happy with our stay.
