Additional Location Information
This area of London is all about England's early 19th century battle victories, imperial expansion and royalty. Admiralty Arch, one of London's best-known landmarks, was built in 1912 by Edward VII in commemoration of his mother, Queen Victoria. A ceremonial gateway, the Queen, her entourage, visiting heads of state, the prime minister and cabinet ministers all pass through the arch on their way up the Mall to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square was planned and built to commemorate Nelson's great 1805 victory and he dominates not just the square but also the whole of London from his column. Landseer's famous lions were made of metal taken from the guns of battleships. The National Gallery houses some of the greatest works of European art from Michelangelo to Monet. Saint Martin's in the Fields has its own chamber orchestra and concerts are frequent. It is also the final resting place of a number of famous Londoners - including Nell Gwynne, Charles II's mistress.
For lovers of the eclectic, look out for the imperial measures set in the wall of the north terrace. Here you can measure perches, chains and poles. In the southeast corner of the square is an old police box – once London's smallest police station, now used to store brooms – crowned with a lantern lamp that legend says came from Nelson's flagship Victory.
From Trafalgar Square you are within minutes of the West End and along the Strand can be in the City of London in moments too. London's many theatres, destination restaurants, Covent Garden Opera House, gentlemen's clubs along Pall Mall, embassies, galleries, bars and shops are all at your feet.

LAClose to Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace?! Brilliant!!!
Left on 03/13/2013 for a stay in October 2012
It really felt like we were neighbors with the Queen, amazing! We still can't get over it, over this amazing week in London. This city has always fascinated me and our holiday was everything we wished for. The apartment is so bright and so clean but at the same time it has a nice personality. The beds were so comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped. There are so many shops and restaurants around and also so many places to visit. The National art Gallery is right next door and the Big Ben 10 minutes to walk to. We went on a river cruise as advised by avenueStory team and we loved it! We hope to be back soon!

Such a bright and clean apartment! We had a brilliant time in London and renting this apartment was everything that we wished for. The location is amazing as it is so close to Buckingham Palace. There are so many shops and supermarkets near by and also the avenueStory welcoming staff had such good recommendations for restaurants and pubs. We hope to come again in the summer and explore some more as we are falling in love with London.
