In a quiet square in a conservation area in Islington you will find yourself at home in this 4-bedroom period house (listed grade II).

The large kitchen is fully kitted, with double oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer, and benefits from the light of the conservatory flowing through its double doors and original stained glass windows. The conservatory table seats 4 and has a lovely view out onto the garden. The green-walled dining room, with a table seating 6, is at the front of the house, and features an original fireplace. On this floor there is also a cloakroom and a WC.

Downstairs is a large bedroom with a single bed... (and a fold-away bed below). There's a desk, book shelves and ample cupboards, and French doors leading out to the garden. A further large bedroom at the front of the house has two single beds and its own mini kitchen with fridge, microwave, kettle, washing machine and outdoor patio area. These bedrooms share a bathroom with WC, basin, bath and wall-mounted shower above.

On the first floor is the reception room: the large sash windows looking on to the church and garden square provide ample light to cast over its warm plum coloured walls, cornice, ceiling rose and original fireplace. With soft peach armchairs and couches and high ceilings, this room is particularly warm and inviting. Off it, facing on to the small wood behind the house, is a large study area with two desks and many book shelves.

The master bedroom has a double bed with wall length wooden and glass wardrobes, a table, various dressers and bedside tables and a lovely view of the neighbouring church and garden square.

The large blue and white bathroom has a roll top bath, loo, separate shower, basin and heated towel rail.

The fourth bedroom is a converted loft with a double bed. There's a desk and study area with a desk and computer which guests may use by arrangement.

The paved garden has flowering shrubs and trees, and is very private as it backs on to a wooded nature reserve.

Ideally situated to explore London for a great city break, Islington itself is a hip, sophisticated destination on the northern edge of Central London. Despite its quietness and greenery, the house is moments from lively Caledonian Road, with many ethnic food outlets, and Upper Street, with its many bars, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, boutiques, antique shops, market, shopping mall and cinemas, is just over a 10 minute walk (or even less by bus).

The renowned Kings Place arts and music centre, the facilities of Central Saint Martin's College (University of the Arts), Almeida Theatre and Kings Head Theatre Pub are also nearby. Only 3 minutes' away you'll find very frequent direct buses to King's Cross, Camden Town, the City, the West End and the Royal Parks. You're less than 10 minutes' walk to the Regent's Canal, for a stroll, bike ride or jog, or to the Underground.

You are just a 3 minute walk to the Caledonian Road & Barnsbury Overground - with fast and frequent access to Stratford (for the Olympic Village and the new Westfield Centre) in less than 20 minutes, with no changes! You are also well placed to reach Oxford Street within just over 10 minutes! From the Overground, there are direct links to Hampstead Heath and Kew Gardens. Alternatively, King's Cross/St Pancras station - with enormous numbers of Underground, national and international rail connections - a short bus ride or just a 15 minute walk.Read more

  Our group came to London for the Olympics this summer and stayed in this home for a week. The house is very spacious with lots of room for storage which was what we needed for 8 people. Claire was very organized and although we came with our own personal care items, she had offered some up for use too. Vive Unique was very helpful in organising a pick-up from the airport to the home for all of us. The house was what we had expected from the website. We did not cook, yet the kitchen was very organized and we certainly could have. We did use the dishwasher and the washing machine and both worked fine. The one disappointment was the dryer. We in america always use a dryer and it being on the top floor was a problem. Islington is a great area with great access to the overground and tube. There is a lovely garden which we used when it was sunny. The only thing I would say is there's carpet in the bathroom and the decor is a touch old fashioned, but it's still a lovely home.
