This large family home is stylish throughout and would make a great base for an exciting city stay.
Enter the property and you will find the large open-plan kitchen and dining room. The dining room has a long wooden dining table and comfy leather chairs, next to a sash window, an original fireplace and a huge feature mirror on one wall. There are wooden floors and, at the rear of the room, is the modern kitchen. There are aubergine and white fitted cupboards, and high-spec appliances including a range cooker, kettle, blender/juicer, stone pestle & mortar, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. This is a lovely space for enjoying an evening meal... with family or friends, and the French windows lead out onto a pretty terrace garden.
There is a 'den' or small sitting room at the back of the house on the ground floor too, with a large flatscreen TV with a PlayStation 3, a CD player and a grey L shaped sofa (which can fold out to comfortably sleep 2 guests). With some interesting artwork, and a view onto the garden, this is a small but cosy space. This room also functions as a utility room, with a washing machine and separate dryer. Outside this room, and under the stairs, is a guest loo. For families travelling with a nanny or grandparents, this could make an ideal room for them.
Head up the trendy white wooden stairs and you will find the family bathroom, decorated with pastel greens. There is an elegant bath on legs to relax in after a long day exploring the sights, a pouf, a designer bowl sink with inset taps and a loo.
At the front of the house on this floor is the spacious and airy sitting room. With large sash windows, white walls and white floors, this is a serene and calm space. The high ceilings, original open fireplace and ornate mirror teamed with contemporary furnishings and a bright animal skin rug give this room a unique feel - mixing traditional and new styles. There are mod-cons for your entertainment, including a flatscreen TV with Virgin channels and a desk for paperwork if you're travelling with work.
Also on this floor there is one of the double bedrooms, with a white wooden bedframe, a big chest of drawers, a fireplace and a TV.
Head up another floor and you will see the balcony off the back of the house - a nice spot for a morning coffee. The second double bedroom on this floor has a double bed, wooden floors, a fireplace, and a wardrobe as well as a desk.
The minimalist master bedroom is on the second floor too and has a bright abstract painting between the shuttered windows. There's a double bed, a big white wardrobe along one wall, an antique desk and another elegant fireplace.
Head to the top floor and you will find a shower unit at the top of the stairs near the entrance to the roof terrace. Outside is comfy seating and lovely views across London. With a west-facing terrace, this is a beautiful spot to enjoy a drink or a bite to eat and watch the sun go down.
This house is in the sought-after Notting Hill/Ladbroke Grove area of West London. This neighbourhood has lots of nice bars, restaurants and trendy cafes on offer. The top of Portobello Road, which is home to the famous market, is only a 5 minute walk from the house, and you can find a great selection of antiques, jewellery, leather goods and street food here, as well as lots of great eateries and boutiques. Head to Meanwhile Gardens nearby and you can join the canal path which runs alongside the water all the way to Warwick Avenue or 'Little Venice' as it's known locally. Here there are lots more cafes, patisseries and bars to enjoy.
Ladbroke Grove is your nearest tube station, less than a 5 minute walk away, which joins the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines. From here you can get to Westfield Shopping Centre, the largest in Europe, in around 15 minutes, and you can be at South Kensington for the Museums - the Natural History, Victoria & Albert and Science Museum - in under 25 minutes.
Oxford Street is only a 20 minute journey from Ladbroke Grove and Paddington Station, with its national connections and the Heathrow Express train, is only 6 minutes away too. It is just over a 20 minute walk to Holland Park tube station which joins the Central line, or Holland Park just the other side of the station is a lovely outdoor space for a picnic.
