The Cottage at Palmirage is located just 1000 ft from the beach. A short walk takes you to a beautiful 2.5 mile crescent beach, with great snorkling at either end off the little cays. This community beach is a great place to see the sunset and look for the green flash!
Long Island is 80 miles long, and between 1 and 4 miles wide. A car is preferred for touring the island, and it is recommended that you rent one at least for a day or 2 of your visit, so you can enjoy all that Long Island has to offer! Taxi service is available also. Arrangements can be made for fishing trips(deep-sea or fly) and island tours.

The place was very clean, quiet and private, but anything and everything was available, stuff I never thought even thought about. Everything from WiFi to Kayaks, to beach chairs, to coolers and ice! The place was comfortable, with everything you need, and if not just ask they are more than accomodating. The place is in a great location, beautiful beach 5 minute walk away, small town 10 min drive away, and best place to dance on Long Island 10 minutes the other way!
The best thing about my stay was being treated like we were old friends, comfortable and completely welcomed. -

Io e mio marito Renato abbiamo trascordo 17 giorni in questa isola poco conosciuta delle Bahamas nel mese di marzo 2013. L'anno precedente eravamo stati ad Exuma ed eravamo rimasti molto colpiti dalla bellezza delle spiagge e dei colori straordinari del mare. Anche Long Island presenta un numero notevole di spiagge tutte bellissime, deserte, con un mare i cui colori sono difficilmente descrivibili a parole. Noi anche questa volta abbiamo deciso di affittare un cottage e abbiamo scelto" Cottage at Palmirage" di Sara Werra per la sua posizione che consente di raggiungere i luoghi più interessanti dell'isola. Il cottage è a 200mt circa da una bella spiaggia lato caraibi raggiungibile a piedi. L'appartamento è molto accogliente, ben aredato e completo di tutti gli accessori necessari , circondato da un lussureggiante giardino tropicale .Gli spazi interni sono abbastanza grandi, molto puliti, funzionali, disposto in modo tale da garantire un'assoluta privacy e tranquillità - Sara è stata molto attenta a soddisfare le nostre esigenze, dandoci preziose informazioni relative all'isola e alle abitudini dei locali e della comunità di americani che vive stabilmente sull'isola per la maggior parte dell'anno. Noi avevamo a nostra disposizione 2 biciclette e 1 kayak. Sara ci ha procurato dell'ottimo pesce fresco e spesso ci ha regalato delle verdure fresche del suo orto. Consigliamo vivamente questo cottage perchè noi ci siamo sentiti come a casa nostra e i proprietari ci hanno trattato come veri amici. Noi speriamo tanto di tornarci in futuro.

from the 1st email sent about the rental Sara was super helpful and friendly! setting us up with car rental/boat trip ect. That is why we ended up picking her cottage and glad that we did! Very cute/clean and felt like home! And we loved being able to pick our own lettuce for salads.
we will definately return, and i've already recommeded her place to a couple of people I know wanting a vacation. It was the perfect location, in the middle of the island and a short walk to the beach. Had an amazing stay! -

Wonderful place to stay. The cottage is perfect for your vacation needs. Cozy and clean with everything you need in the cottage. Sara and Dan are very friendly and helpful in assisting you in planning your trip. Highly recommend Palmirage for your vacation stay on Long Island. I was very pleased with the hospitality at the Pamirage. I will be staying here again when I visit Long Island again!!!

Three Women Kayakers

Our group of three women rented the cottage as a getaway for 13 nights. The main focus of our trip was sea kayaking. We travel with folding kayaks and the cottage had plenty of space for the three of us and our gear.
Kitchen was well equipped - including an imersion blender which was great for making humus and protein drinks. Can opener was a nightmare - we bought another one and it was just as bad. No good can openers on the island.
Sara was great providing information and connections for airport shuttle, car rentals, places to see, grocery stores and vegetables from her garden. Having a washer was a great addition as we did not have to bring as many clothes.
The major negatives were the lack of internet access and the musty sofa bed.
It is impossible to get much done from the cottage as the connection is only available if one stands by the window in the bedroom. It is weak and constantly drops. Sara assured us it would be fixed when a new part came on the boat but boats came and went that week without it being fixed. If you need to have reliable internet access, this is not the place to stay.
Since there were three of us we needed to use the sofa bed. If you have allergies this will be an issue as it is musty. Even after airing it out for a day, the smell lingered.

Thank you for the honest review! I am so glad that the Cottage suited most of your needs. We have finally received replacement cables for the wireless antenna and the last guests were able to Skype, so it seems to be improved. We will be bringing a wireless router next year for the Cottage, so speed should be up to BTC standards. I hope using the Internet here at the main house helped you out! And we will be changing the mattress in the fall! Thanks again for helping us keep the Cottage up to date.

I just spent a week at the cottage @ Palmirage and have nothing but positive things to say! The owners Dan and Sara made sure that we had everything we needed. They even went grocery shopping for us because we arrived on the island on a Sunday when all the stores were closed. Sara was also very helpful in arranging a car rental as well.
The cottage and grounds were immaculately kept and there was nothing we needed that wasn't already there, they truly have thought of everything! We had friends staying at another location 5 minutes down the road and they had to check out after 3 days because they were getting eaten alive by bugs infiltrating their living space, we did not have any such problem and were very thankful for it.
If you are looking for a great place to stay while on Long Island, look no further! -

Our hosts Sara and Dan were most gracious and welcoming. The cottage is tucked in a quiet and tropical setting that is well kept and inviting. Our accommodations were very clean and spacious. The kitchen was well equiped, and a washer and dryer in the unit was very convenient. Sara and Dan are very familiar with the Islands attractions and can assist with planning your adventure by providing suggestions and guidance.
We were within a short walking distance to the beach, where we felt as if it was our very own private paradise. You can walk for hours without seeing another person - where else would that be possible?
I would highly encourage everyone to experience the quiet beauty of this island - it was beyond our expectations and we plan return again soon!Response from Sara Werra - 02/14/2012

Great vacation. This is the place to unwind. There are virtually no day to day worries except which beach to go to; and there are plenty of them. All the restaurants cook the same foods but they each have a different slant making going to each a differet experience. Avoid Chez Pierre. It is a strange experience. It was a one-man show. The owner is the waiter, cook and bottle washer. Roxy's was the best with all local ingredients and real Bahamian charm.

A great place for time away from the hustle and bustle of life, to rejuvenate. Be on your own or be pampered. Accomodations that are simple and comfortable. Great walking and beaches. We had a great time with nice friendly people on the island. Good fresh food at the restaurants and groceries avaliable. Sara's baking was a treat. I am looking forward to my next visit and have put this on my list of favorite places to visit.

We've stayed at The Cottage at Palmirage and would love to again.
The accommodations are funky and fabulous...everything you need for a most relaxing time. You're only steps to a most fabulous beach, but there is total relaxation right out front, too. Shops are convenient, as are restaurants and bars, if you don't feel like cooking in the wonderful kitchen. Your hosts, Sara and Dan, are very accommodating and do all they can to make your stay a real visit to Paradise!
