We are in the 5600 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive. Within walking distance to award-winning dining at Euphemia Haye. Nearby Durante Park with its nature trails and kids' jungle gyms and gazebos. Fishing also at the resort's pier with rods to use in the home's garage.

We had planned a birthday weekend for my daughter and some of her friends. Additionally, me and my hubby wanted some adult company as well. The house and amenities suited us perfectly. There was ample room for all 5 teenagers, the 7 year old and the four adults to comfortably be doing their own thing in a portion of the house without disturbing someone else. The house is fully stocked with towels and linens for your use. The girls enjoyed being able to frequent different beaches on Longboat that were so close to the house. They also enjoyed the pool area as did I which for the most part was not busy at all. The bartender service at the pool was also excellent with daily happy hours that made my adult friends quite happy. I hope to utilize this rental again in the near future.

I traveled to Castle in the Sky in Longboat Key with my son, his wife, and their 1 year old daughter. The first thing we did was babyproof the house a bit, relocating plants, taking glass off tables, moving larger objects to closets and moving nightlights up higher. After that, it was vacation time.
The house has a great open floor plan, two levels of porches, and it was very easy to walk to the beach. In addition, we drove into Bradenton, Sarasota and Siesta Key at various times. The Publix grocery store is about 4 miles away, so you don't need to stock up before arriving.
While here, as well as the beach, we had very positive experiences at Mote Marine aquarium and at Sarasota Jungle Gardens. We normally ate in and really appreciated the large modern kitchen, as well as the high chair that was included in the house. The weather was beautiful most of the time, so we visited the pool and beach each day. My son also fished from the fishing pier and caught two fish. There are elevated wooden pathways through the mangroves to provide shortcuts to the pool and to the fishing pier.
The house also had two bikes, which we used, and a grill, which we used. There were also things like boogie boards and chairs, which we didn't use. There are two garages, but we kept our car outside as that made it easier to get in and out.
The neighbors were pleasant and very quiet also. The only improvement I'd suggest, and I didn't mention this to the owner, is to raise the maximum water heater temperature from warm to warm-hot. It was very easy to deal with the owner, and he left well-organized instructions and directions.Response from Phil B - 04/17/2013

We were so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Castle this winter as well as all of its amenities and nearby cultural attractions. We have looked in to the "warm" but not "hot" water heater and have replaced the water heater so this should not be a concern for you or any other guests in the foreseeable future.

Wow. That pretty much sums up this beautiful vacation home on LongBoat Key. As you enter, you step into an expansive family room with a extra large sectional perfect for family gatherings. The open space flows easily into the very large gourmet kitchen and dining room. You also have another dining and relaxation area on the large enclosed porch. This floor also has a den with a bed and half a bath. It is a large and comfortable living area.
On the next floor, the house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and a 2nd air conditioning unit. The very large master suite and bath is easily 4 times the size of any hotel room. The closets and bathroom are very spacious and the large porch has a hammock for relaxation.
The décor of the house is very warm, cozy and inviting. We really enjoyed our stay.
The house is also in a great location, 2 minutes from the beach and tennis and 10 minutes from St. Armand Circle with its many great shops and restaurants.
We had a five star vacation and will definitely be returning several times in the future and can't wait for our next trip.
This is a vacation house not a condo.

We had a great 5 days at Castle in the Sky celebrating a milestone birthday. The house was amazing, not only was it huge but had everything anyone could ask for . The kitchen was very big and well equipped, the living area has plenty of seating and a nice flat screen TV. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the master suite is over sized with a jacuzzi ! Pool was close and very relaxing. The beach is just a short drive away and the house has everything you need to enjoy it. We were able to entertain our 3 grown kids, my parents and some friends without being cramped.
Phil was very quick to provide the paperwork and was very helpful and accommodating. -

My husband and I spent the first three days at this lovely condo home by ourselves and our adult children and grandchildren joined us later in the week. We loved the place for its spaciousness, cleanliness and comfort. The master bedroom lanai has a terrific hammock that fit two of us comfortably. We had considered other units in the resort but this home appeared to be the largest with four bedrooms and situated nicely not far from the beach and an easy walk to the pool. The kitchen, living room and dining room shared a common area which was great for our family get-togethers. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms had very comfortable beds. We found the home to be private but close to activity if we wanted it. Our favorite restaurants were Mar Vista and the Beach House and were only a 5 minute drive away. It seemed that most of the sightseeing places that we enjoyed were no more than 20 minutes away. We enjoyed Mote Marine, St armands Circle and Siesta Key Beach. The aluminum bikes in the garage and the grill for our barbecues were a great way to wrap up the summer. We would definitely rent again. The owner was easy to work with, truthful and helpful with all the questions we had prior to renting.

This home on first look was just what we hoped for. Then we discovered the garbage disposal did not work and there was no ice maker in the fridge (this is Florida!). The downstairs bathroom door did not close or lock. The track lighting in the kitchen did not work. There were rats and snakes in the garage. The frogs croaked so loudly at night you could not sleep. There is no beach access near by because of the ongoing feud between The Cedars East and The Cedars West. You can try to cut through other resorts but beware, some get nasty with you. Oh and no matter what the cleaning people tell you, do not leave anything in the fridge because you will lose your damage deposit!. No wifi, bring a cable!

Initially we were a bit surprised to learn of this review since the guests had related to us by e-mail while there that they were having a wonder-
ful time. They were a large party with 7 children betweeen the ages of 3 and 11; unfortunately they tore a large lanai screen and the home was left a complete mess at checkout. The home needed a tremendous amount of cleaning including additional staff to prepare the home for another party checking in later that day. Half the damage deposit was withheld to pay for these costs and the guests were upset about this. They were never "charged" for leaving food in the fridge.
In regards to the issues raised:
There is a new counter-depth refrigerator with water and ice dispenser on the door, and the garbage disposal works fine. In the seven years of ownership my family has never seen a rat or a snake in the home or surroundings.
There is no direct access to the beach from the resort, however, we provide an information manual in the family room with all the
important information you may need. In the manual, it describes an accessible beach pathway that is a 5 minute walk from the home. The renters chose a shortcut that is not allowed and never recommended.
We have never heard from anyone complaining of the sounds of frogs from the nearby pond as most find them soothing.
The condo is ideally located near Durante Park, a convenience store as well as Zagat top-rated restaurants such as Euphemia Haye and Ciao Italian .
In summary, we are not a large impersonal rental company. As a family-owned single home, we are responsive if something is broken or needed; it is almost always addressed immediately. We only ask
to know of the problem before departure so it can be remedied while still enjoying one's stay. -

With in laws located on Longboat key and 60 UK guests in and around the area Cedars provided a good central location. The house was ample in size and very homely, perfect for a sharing family as the dining area was large enough for family meals and 3 bathrooms meant no waiting!. The master bedroom with attached bathroom proved excellant on the morning of the wedding as the space helped with the calmness of the day. Castle-in- the sky will always be a property I will remember with very fond memories,as I left this house on the morning of my wedding.

Castle in the Sky has lots of room for families and a great floor plan. Walk to the beach is a little hard with very young children-but the walk is worth it!! would have liked to have been able to use the tennis courts on the property. Swimming pool is great for everyone. Kind of disappointed that the clubhouse restaurant had very limited hours during the month of October. All & all a very great place to stay.

We stayed at Castle-in-the-Sky for 2 weeks. Because we were traveling from Japan, we were relieved that the beach house was fully equipped, and the rental process was a breeze. The owner ensured that all our needs were met; and corresponded in a timely, friendly manner. The home was spacious and comfortable to accommodate young children, grandparents and a great-grandparent! We had no problem cooking 1 to 2 meals per day in the kitchen. The close proximate to the beach was great! We'd recommend this condo highly and would stay here again.

This large spacious 4 bedroom condo spread out over 3 floors is clean, well kept, and contains all the necessary amenities, including a 4 inch television, Internet access, and washer and dryer. The kids bedrooms and especially the master bedroom are large. The kitchen area and family room area are spacious with a large cooking area and all the necessary plates, silverware, and pots and pans to eat in every meal if so desired. Easy and convenient parking in front with extra storage space if necessary in the garage. Located across the street from the ocean and a short driving distance from Sarasota and Bradenton, this beach house is a great deal for any good-sied family

I had the privilege of spending a great week in this wonderful townhouse. Even though it is a townhouse it is a stand alone building since it is a double unit. This provides greater privacy than a normal townhouse or condo. The property is impeccability maintained both inside and outside. The townhouse has 3 large bedrooms on the second floor some with private balconies. There are 2 bathrooms on that floor. On the first floor there is a huge open kitchen with a large TV room with a large flat screen TV and DVD player. There is also a dinning room and living room. It is enjoyable to spend time sitting outside on the deck enjoying the sunshine.
We enjoyed the large Olympic size swimming pool and lounge area. The bay side of Longboat Key was just a very short walk from the residence where it is enjoyable watching the boats go up and down the inter-coastal or for fishing off of the dock. On the other side of the key are many public beaches and the warm Gulf of Mexico where we spent many hours. Just a short drive south brings you to St armands Circle where there are many great shops and restaurants. Just a few minutes drive north from the residence is anna Maria Island where there are multiple restaurants and shops to enjoy. Our favorite restaurant was the Beach House.
For a great vacation we highly recommend this luxurious residence

Our family had the time of our lives here! The kids loved gettting up early, biking then jumping in the pool! The rooms are large and we ate at least one meal in every day because we loved the huge gourmet kitchen!! There was more equipment here than I have in mine!
The owner was easy to work with and always available to take our calls. He also gave great advice on excellent restaurants. We're booking our return visit!
