Although we only had the pleasure of the house for 4 days we instantly felt at home there, a fabulous location for exploring Hollywood , Beverly Hills and so quite and peaceful you could lose yourself in its tranquility, we would highly recommend the property and would certainly stay there again.

Denver, COPerfect location for our vacation!
Left on 10/24/2011 for a stay in October 2011
This home was very close to all the sights close to Hollywood, Sunset Blvd, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills that my family enjoyed on our vacation. We enjoyed feeling like locals and hanging out in the Laurel Canyon area in the comforts of this unique home.

Thank you so much for your kind words. That is exactly how we want you to feel: at home. Please come back!

Great location in the heart of Hollywood Hills. Close to all the la action, yet still quaint and quietly tucked in the hills. Surrounded by trees, the hillside tri-level condo is great for a relaxing escape. Tips for future guests: Plan a romantic dinner at Pace - just steps away and be sure to open the lower door when you arrive to avoid carrying your luggage up all of the stairs...unless you are looking for a great workout!

Owner
Thank you so much for your helpful review. You are right- Pace is a "Don't Miss" when you are in the neighborhood! And thanks for the lower door tip for future guests, saves energy! :) p.s. This home is actually a single family home, not a condo (to save any confusion for future guests).
Thanks again! -

Sacramento, CALive like a local in Laurel Canyon
Left on 07/24/2010 for a stay in July 2010
"The location was great, and that the house and neighborhood had an interesting history which we enjoyed learning about. Internet access and the little patios were nice. I found the kitchen lacking in enough mugs and there didn't seem to be any salt or pepper even though there was spice rack. We really did have a lovely vacation - we went to some great restaurants and museums and had an overall delightful time."Response from Homes of Laurel Canyon - 08/07/2010
Owner
You are right about the historical aspects of the neighborhood, and our home. I appreciate your alert on the mugs and salt and pepper :) The house is now freshly stocked with both. We value feedback on the small details so we can take care of it right away!

This is one of the la area's best kept secrets. Loaction is central to most vital areas. All the comforts of home and at a price no hotel can top. I would have rated it 5 star but for lack of a swimming pool and a short flight of stairs. A fantastic value just the same.
Response from Homes of Laurel Canyon - 08/07/2010
Owner
Ah yes, a swimming pool would be nice...but the hillside build of the home would make it into a waterfall! For the few days of summer that it is hot enough in the area to fancy a swim you can head down to the Standard Hotel (or Hollywood and HIghland) for a swim and a great lunch or cocktails. Or of course, there is always the beach. You can just drive west on Sunset Blvd and you will run directly into Malibu. For future guests, save some energy on the stairs by unlocking the lower door rather than carrying your luggage all the way up. Happy living in the Hollywood Hills and in historical Laurel Canyon!

Seattle, WAGreat place - more modern than I thought it would be.
Left on 07/24/2010 for a stay in February 2010
This house is in an awesome spot - right in the middle of town. There's a cool restaurant right down the street, but be warned - the main road (Laurel Canyon) can be a traffic nightmare. Still, the house is right between Hollywood and "The Valley" so it was a good place for getting around. On the outside, it looks like an older home, but inside it's all new. Loved the kitchen, which is really modern. The owner had good suggestions for restaurants, too. Probably more house than we needed, but it made for a very comfortable stay.

You are certainly right about Los Angeles traffic! Guests are best off planning travel throughout the city at non-peak times. If one must travel during high traffic times, make sure to allow yourself plenty of extra time to get where you are going. Although our two homes are up in the Hills and feel far away from it all, you are still in a enclave of Los Angeles and must plan accordingly! Laurel Canyon Blvd is a main road that connects West Hollywood/ Westside areas to the Valley and Laurel Canyon itself branches off of this busy road. Use your GPS and traffic apps wisely so you can always route the best way (freeways or regular streets?).
But of course, use this traffic advice for anywhere in the LA area!
Luckily, if you want to skip traffic completely, you can walk right down the street (Kirkwood Drive is our Street) and get dinner at Pace, grab a sandwich at the deli and pick up forgotten or necessary items at the Canyon Country Store, and leave the angst of traffic to the others!
:)
Happy Travels!
p.s. this review appears to be for our other home, 8150 Kirkwood Drive- which is a new construction home. 8152 Kirkwood has had modern amenities added (like Central Air, Flat Screen TVs, and structural/ electrical upgrades) but the house was originally built in 1926 and still retains much of its history. -
