usaGreat Rental!
Left on 09/24/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We spent 6 nights in this cottage, and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is just as it appears on the web -- adorable. It's in good shape and very clean. The kitchen was equipped well enough for us to do a lot of our own cooking, and we really enjoyed the patio area. There were lots of nice extra touches, like a Brita water pitcher in the fridge, coffee, a bottle of wine, and condiments and spices so we didn't have to buy every little thing to cook. The bed was comfortable and the linens were nice. The location was great -- it's a short walk to the Sunset Junction area, with coffee shops, restaurants, etc., and we also walked to Trader Joes and Gelsons for groceries. We even walked to Los Feliz (we like to walk). It is a very short drive to Griffith Park, Runyon Canyon Park, and of course all of the Hollywood stuff. I would definitely stay here again. One note: There are a lot of stairs to get down to the house, so it may not be a good choice for the disabled or elderly.

So-So CalA scene from "Dragnet"
Left on 09/24/2012 for a stay in September 2012
I stayed a night at this Silverlake cottage on very short notice at the recommendation of a friend who I was visiting in la to see a football game. He likes the variety and unique character of staying at Vrbos, so i thought I'd give it a try. We arrived late at night, parked on the street, entered through a gate in a high wooden fence, then felt our way down a long, steep flight of stairs to a small courtyard and the cottage itself. Somewhere in the not-too-distant distance, a dog was barking. The key was in a lock box, for which the property owners had given. The cottage itself was small, with perhaps 300 square feet comprising a small living room, kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom. The entire cottage was immaculate, and the bed was heavenly comfortable. The decor was early- to mid-century la thrift shop hip, the kind of relief you welcome from the monotony of another night at a Comfort Suites. You have to wonder how many aspiring thrivers have called this humble room home as they pursued their la dreams. I half expected Joe Friday to show up at the door with some questions.
In the morning, the shower greeted me with a hot, aggressive spray, but due to a problem with the towel bar, the towels had been stored where I couldn't find them. No worries. Just one of the luxurious, thirsty washcloths was enough to dry myself with, and I'm not a diminutive man. I guess I could have used one of the terrycloth robes, but it just didn't seem like the thing to do. Once dry and dressed, it was time to find a Peet's and wheel back south for San Diego.
A snafu ensued when it came time to receive the bill. There was a $40 cleaning charge and a 14% lodging tax I was not aware of. Like I said, I took this accommodation on very short notice at the recommendation of a friend, without benefit of due diligence. I protested to the owners, who generously credited me the cleaning fee. They are kind to a fault, and genuinely want their guests to have a pleasant experience. I was at the Silverlake cottage less than 8 hours, and I certainly did. -

My husband and I loved this adorable cottage in Silverlake. The cottage was cozy and clean and had everything you would need (from free wi-fi to q-tips -- which we forgot to pack). Robin has created a little hideaway with thoughtful touches. The cottage is in a great location and we couldn't have been happier with our stay. If we ever find ourselves in Los angeles again (which we will, we had an amazing time) we won't hesitate to book this cottage again.

60827A Gem of a Rental - Comfortable, Affordable, Awesome Location &
Left on 06/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We stayed at the cottage for four nights on a combo business/family trip. We would stay there again for sure! The affordable-priced cottage is perfectly located in Silverlake, just five minutes walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and a Saturday farmer's market. Owners Tim and Robin are amazing hosts! They keep it clean, well-decorated, and functional. It feels like your own private home - with many perks of a B&B.;
Even before our arrival, Robin and Tim were incredibly hospitable. Via email, they shared everything from airport transport info to fun activities to do with our one year-old daughter in the neighborhood. (They also provided a crib and a high chair).
The cottage is nestled downhill from the street, behind another building and in a beautifully-landscaped courtyard with a patio, outdoor table and chairs, lavender bushes and succulents. We enjoyed eating outside, although there is also a kitchen table inside that's equally comfortable. There are some entry stairs before the courtyard, but that wasn't a big deal for us since we're used to stairs in NYC.
The cottage feels like your cool (though not painfully hip) La friends have decorated it. It's a west coast rustic vibe in the living/kitchen space, with vintage nature prints on the walls, but also with a nice flat screen cable TV. Much to our pleasant surprise, the kitchen and fridge were stocked for us in advance with the basics - fruit, eggs, bread, peanut butter, oils, spices, etc. This thoughtful touch eliminated the need for us to buy basics like olive oil for the few meals we cooked while on vacation.
The bedroom and bathroom are more minimally-decorated and hotel-like in a good way, with clean white sheets on the full/queen bed and a big shower/tub stocked with handmade potporri soaps (BYO shampoo though). There is a window unit aC in the bedroom, which we used to keep ourselves and the baby cool on a few warmer nights - really great to have that option. Otherwise, we kept the windows open. The site is private and safe.
Tim happened to be doing some renovation work on their adjacent property, and he made sure to say hello, ask us if we needed anything, and answer a few questions we had each day about getting around in La. We also briefly met Robin and appreciated her handwritten welcome note when we arrived.
Robin and Tim are genuinely kind, creative people who are running an excellent rental property with all the right creature comforts and friendly touches. -

It is a lovely little place, refurbished with taste, comfy, with all the appliances you need. The owners are really helpful and the suburb is nice (funky-ish) and quiet. What else would you need?
(Less mobile people will note that there is a steep staircase to get to the cottage). -

We have nothing but wonderful things to say about this cottage in Silver Lake. From our arrival, we were made to feel very much at home by the owner, our every question/need was seen to promptly. This attention to detail extends to the cottage itself - it is well appointed, tastefully decorated and fully stocked. It is a great place to come home to after a day out and about and la, with its beautiful garden and ideal location. We obtained street parking without difficulty. There is ample storage, plush linens and nice toiletries. We would absolutely recommend to couples or groups of three or four and plan to stay there again.

londonlovely cottage in the heart of silver lake
Left on 02/01/2011 for a stay in January 2011
For myself, my wife and 7 month old son, the cottage was like a home away from home and without doubt the most comfortable and homely property we stayed in on our 5 week stay in la. Robin and Tim have given the cottage a really homely feel from the moment you walk in the door. All the supplies needed after a long day travelling where there, no need to go to the supermarket to pick up the next mornings breakfast or to make a cup of coffee
It was these touches that we did not get by renting from letting agencies that really made the difference.
The cottage is no more than a 5 minute walk to the best shops and cafes Silver Lake has to offer. The place has a real community vibe which is great when you have a small child. location wise staying here was great for downtown, hollywood and surrounding areas like palm springs and pasadena as it is very close to all major freeways.
one thing note is that silver lake is a hilly area and the cottage is located on a incline, therefore they is a sizeable flight of stairs down to the property, when it comes to checking in and out, help was always there for our luggage, but if you are not use to stairs this is something to consider.
I myself will be staying again at Robin and Tim's gem of a cottage
