William Kesling's Streamline Moderne home has was built in 1936 for Wallace Beery, an Academy Award winning actor.

Beery stared in films such as "The Lost World," "Robin Hood," and "The Champ." He was the first husband of the famous Gloria Swanson, star of "Sunset Boulevard," and was later married to Rita Gilman.

William Kesling's architectural style showcases his love of Hollywood, curved forms, straight lines and aesthetics. Once he began working with Wallace Beery, who had a love for airplanes, Kesling incorporated aviation and aeronautic elements into the design.

The style is "Streamlin­e Moderne," which features curves, differing from art deco which is angular; streamline accentuate­s the horizontal and art deco emphasizes the vertical; streamline is clean and spare; art deco is ornamented with varied geometric shapes.

  Stayed at the house for a couples weekend and it was fantastic. The area was close enough to nightlife that we weren't driving for 30 minutes and the property is great. The outdoor space is really fantastic, and the house came fully furnished (including towels, extra linens, soap/shampoo etc.). Overall it was a great experience, highly recommend it.

  This place is amazing! It is beautiful in details inside and outside. It is quite even it is so close to everything on Melrose ave or Santa Monica Blvd. Good for two and for a family of five like we have been.

  Don't expect a phone call when they forget to pay back your depo

  If you wash your hands you better be fast as the water will take days to run through the pipes.
  Make sure you put your car in the garage and ding it against this odd rack that will not be detected by any of your car sensor or camera.
  Pray for the garage door to work, it usually does work on tuesdays and thursdays...
  Bring your comforter sheets as they don't clean these up. Don't expect the washed ones to be ironed.
  Make sure than when they give you a 3 bedroom house they are not overselling the den.
  Finally, make sure that if they tell you they have credited you back your deposit they actually did. I had to find that out after four weeks when my statement showed up. They will claim they have 6 weeks according to their contracts, thinking tht is enough to lack service and lie over the phone telling you your money has been credited.

  a complete Hollywood experience - art and architecture

  It's a wondeful 1930's piece of Hollywood, completely restored and newly and beautifully furnished. The beds are comfortable and cozy, the towels are fluffy, and th bathroom amenities are terrific.
  
  Very very chic and modern with alot of light and glass.
  
  A very beautiful and well maintained garden with great seating and sun.
  
  Nicely equipped. Like staying at someone's (very nice) home.

  I loved staying at this really special house. Staying in such a special piece of architecture I felt like I was in a different time and place, but with all of the modern conveniences of wifi and HD flat screens in almost every room. The house is so open and yet so private. A very fun way to visit la. I felt like I was a resident instead of a tourist. I'd recommend it to anyone.
