Our beautiful cottage is located on our private 5 acre ranch, just minutes from town. Drive through the gate, past the corrals, up the tree lined lane and enter our charming guest cottage.
Fir floors line a living area, with a cozy wood burning fireplace, that opens onto a dining area with a bay window. There's a complete kitchen with granite counter tops, marble floors, and a laundry/mud room with washer and dryer. The 30+ tasting rooms, galleries, and restaurants of our quaint little town are only a 10 minute walk away (or five minute bike ride) away. Close at hand are the Danish town of Solvang and the western town of Santa Ynez. There's biking, horseback riding, golf, tennis, theatre, movies, shopping, festivals, farmer's markets, the Chumash casino, and more. Santa Barbara, “the American Riviera,' is a short 35 minute drive south for a day trip. Beautiful beaches are even closer, and never crowded. And our Los Olivos Getaway is located right in the middle of it all!

Traveled west to see our 24-year old son for the first time in a year; he wanted to escape la for a few days and visit wine country; we always look for places with local charm.
This cottage has charm to spare. From the outside it looks like a petite log cabin, but inside it's light and airy, well decorated, and very comfortable.
We used the fully-equipped kitchen for big breakfasts each morning and the dining area was also well used early in the day. The living area was a cozy refuge after full days of touring, wine tasting, and eating out; the TV has a full range of stations and the shelves are well stocked with books and brochures on local sites.
The upstairs master bedroom was comfortable , with lots of closet space at the top of the stairs, a comfortable queen bed with luxe linens, and a charming fireplace. Alas, no time to use the soaking tub -- maybe during our next visit!
The main level bedroom is a cozy "snuggery" off the dining area; it's a small space but certainly adequate with double bed and storage space for clothes. Our son is 6-foot, 3" tall and was comfortable. The bath on the main level is modern and well designed; the wall heaters took the the chill from the air.
The ranch has gated/coded access for privacy and the grounds are picturesque. My first morning stroll I walked the drive admiring trees; three horses galloped to the fence to say hello. Closer to the cottage is an herb garden with hedges of rosemary and lavender!
It's an easy walk to town but in ranch country there are no streetlights and roads are quite dark -- so we didn't walk home after tastings or dinners. It would be easy and fun to bike to town during the day and bicycles are available to use. Again, next time we visit!
We'd recommend the cottage for a romantic getaway or for a family with children. And our son wants to return and rent the adjacent one-bedroom cottage for a writer's retreat! -

We are retired and travel a lot. Our stays are usually in condos or cottages since they provide more room, comfort and flexibility. The Los Olivos cottage ranks at the top of our list because it is very comfortable, well appointed and the setting is beautiful. All of the furnishing are tasteful and comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped and stocked with the essentials. If you enjoy good restaurants, long walks, bicycling and, of course, great wine, this area is terrific. The owners, John and Karen are great folks and were extremely accommodating during our stay. We can't wait to go back!

Thank you for a wonderful experience at your home. We went for the weekend and did not want to leave! The house is comfortable, charming and is in a greta location just outside of town. For cooks, the kitchen is very well-equipped for cooking. We will definitely come back. Thanks again!
