Lostwithiel allows you to explore the north and south coasts of Cornwall with equal ease, as the neck of land that travels down to Land’s End gets narrower and narrower. 16 Brunel Quays was originally a railway building, named after its designer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It has been restored to offer a high standard of accommodation, but retains many of its original features, such as arched windows and exposed stonework. The cottage has 4 bedrooms and will sleep up to 7 people, making it an idyllic retreat for large families or groups of friends. It also has a unique location, being bordered by the railway and its slow-passing trains o...n one side and the river quays on the other. The railway station is about 2 minutes' walk away, giving you access to trains that will take you to the major train stations and towns in Cornwall.

Town: The small Cornish town of Lostwithiel sits in the Fowey river valley. Along the coastsyou will find small fishing ports, areas of great historical interest and monuments shrouded in myth and legend which give Cornwall much of its character. The lady was there to meet us and showed us around the cottage and explained where the shops and pubs where . There was tea coffee milk and biscuits there, so we could have a break before we unloaded the car .the cottage was very comfortable and it was nice to sit on the patio by the river ,
The location was perfect for the places we wanted to visit. The railway was close by if you didn't want to drive.

16 Brunel Quays was our base for four weeks in October. My husband is registered blind and we are both in our 70s. Our children and grandchildren came to stay for varying lengths of time and there is ample accommodation for 7.
We found the connection with Brunel interesting, and the conversion very well done.
We did not need to drive anywhere as all the amenities were so close. We even walked up to the castle although the final hill was steep.
Lostwithiel is an interesting town, most of the shops are privately owned and sell superb local produce.
The washing machine was great but the dryer was not very good.

A Lovely place to stay

Everything about the holiday accommodation was excellent. The only downside was the noise from the train station close by. The last train was at 11.30 pm and was very loud in the bedroom accommodation. The first train in the morning was 6/6.30 am and you don't really want to be woken at 6.30 on your holiday. That was the only time you noticed the noise of the train was late at night and early morning. Quite annoying and spoilt an otherwise excellent property. Plus we did ask about the trains before we rented the accommodation and were told that the noise would be minimal.

The property was spotless and very well furnished with lots of facilities. We were made very welcome and our comfort considered at all times. Clear instructions for all appliances. The patio is a lovely place to sit and watch the wild life on the river. Lostwithiel itself is charming with great walks in all directions. The station is very closeby, making travel without the car easy.

A charming and beautifully appointed house in an
excellent location. The owner was welcoming and the
house was very well equipped. Lostwithiel is a
pleasant town with shops and restaurants in easy
walking distance and centrally located for visiting
the many places of interest in the area. We even
enjoyed the trains going past the front of the house.
a super place to stay.
