Home away from home, with a view!!!

Left on 09/14/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We truely enjoyed our stay here in the Herons Nest. It is right on the water and also offers a dock that you can tie your boat up too. The cabin is clean and very well kept. Everything is provided and all you do is add food and anything else that might make you comfortable. We will use them again. Bud is and excellent host.

      Colucci Castle Christmas in October

Left on 11/06/2011 for a stay in October 2011

We have been back from Colucci Cabins less than a week and I would go back at the drop of a hat. With family spread out in Ohio, Tennessee, Utah and Illinois, we decided to try having an early Christmas to avoid the worry of winter travel and alleviate the scheduling problems that come with wanting to spend time with both sides of married children's families. We wanted a place we could spend time together not sitting in motel rooms and eating in restaurants. We found exactly that. We stayed in the Castle which was just perfect for a group. There were plenty of beds, bathrooms and a large kitchen area. The cabin was supplied with plenty of fresh linens, cooking utensils and a huge gas grill. There were no hidden costs. The cabin was extremely clean and we felt so at home. There was enough to do within driving distance for horseback riders, wine tasters, historical sight seers and hikers. Although we had cool weather, we were still able to enjoy a weiner roast and time spent around the fire. With two flat screen televisions and a pool table, we never ran out of things to do around "home" whether we wanted to stay in our large group or split up. We enjoyed seeing Betty Ray's landing and driving through the winding hills. If what you are looking for is a get away from the hustle and bustle and meeting a fantastic owner I recommend you call Bud and reserve a cabin. It was unanimously voted we do early Christmas annually. Our thanks to Bud and his cabin for making this a wonderful memorable experience.

My wife, four children, and our dog all had a blast!!!

Left on 10/31/2011 for a stay in October 2011

We stayed at the Heron's nest in October (2011) and had a great experience. Check-in with Bud was a breeze, the four story cabin was amazing and the kids (and our dog) enjoyed every single level. Nightly campfires followed by a visit to the hot tub right out our back door were real treats. Kitchen was fully equiped with pots, pans, dishwasher, and even some cooking ingredients. The scene of the Ohio River was incredible. We were there three days and two nights and none of our kids wanted to leave. Very appreciative of Bud shipping our son's DSI that he left there back to us so promptly. We would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a couple's getaway or for a large family looking for a place to stay where you won't feel cramped or crowded. You will not be disappointed with your visit!!!

The Flagship of the Cabin Fleet!

Left on 09/19/2011 for a stay in April 2005

We do a "girls getaway" once a year. Since finding Colucci Log Cabins, we have gone no where else. We have sampled all but the 2 smaller cabins, that's only because of our large group. We've been coming since 2004 to see our friend Bud a most wonderful host. His cabins are simply beautiful as well as comfortable. We need only bring our food and clothing, the cabins are well stocked from top to bottom. We so enjoy the breath taking view of the river and surrounding area. The hot tub fresh & clean ready to go. A washer and dryer! Easy access to the boat ramp for fishing or boating pleasure. Bud's craftsmanship is awesome, each cabin has it's own special signature detail. When I go to"The Nest" and look out the window I feel like the Captain of a mighty ship. The Bonnie Pearl has a hand made copper cupola. Le Chalet has a wonderful turret with large windows around the winding staircase. The Buzzards Roost has a commanding view of the River and surrounding area from on high atop the area.
This year 2011 we stayed in the new Castle Colucci. A great big kitchen area with a huge table we could all gather around for food, fun and fellowship. We spent a good deal of our time on the twin decks either rocking and talking or soaking in the hot tub.Saturday night was a big bonfire right on the edge of the bank of the mighty Ohio. We can't wait to get there every year and we never want to leave when our time is done. We find that coming to stay in these wonderful cabins that Bud has built helps us to re-bond, laugh, heal, destress, relax, re-energize our hearts, minds bodies and souls, walk in nature and beauty. We call it Our Healing Get-A-Way.
      We can highly recommend:
      The Heron's Nest 2004-2005-2006
      Le Chalet 2007
      The Bonnie Pearl 2008
The Lodge at Buzzard's Roost 2009
      Castle Colucci 2011
We look forward to 2012 we are already planning!!!
Thank You Bud, Sally & Michelle for making our visits feel like a Home Coming!

      A wonderful family experience

Left on 09/01/2011 for a stay in August 2011

Been wanting to have a "family" vacation for some time and thought after picking up a brochure for Colucci river cabins that we would give it a try. Couldn't have turned out better. The Kids, the Grandkids,Paul and I were all thrilled with the Heron's Nest with its remarkable view of the Ohio river and the Colucci hospitality. The grandkids wanted to stay there 'forever"! So did Grandpa and Grandma! We are planning on making this an annual family trip at the Heron's Nest!!

      Colucci Cabins and The Smiths

Left on 07/31/2011 for a stay in April 2010

We stayed at Heron's Nest in april 2010. It was our second stay at Colucci Cabins, after first visiting in april 2009. I don't think that you could ask for more in a vacation home than what Bud has sitting down there on the Ohio River. The scenery and views are spectacular... the barges that travel the river are very interesting and not a loud offense by any means... waking up in the morning to the Kentucky cows, mooing over there across the river, is totally cool! Bud is friendly and helpful as are the others who work there. The wildlife surrounding the cabins locale is fascinating. I saw my first ever Bald Eagle on our first trip to Colucci's!
The Heron's Nest offers plenty of room for everyone to kick back and relax - and what a treat to have a hot tub just out the door dowstairs! Everything that you would have at home is there - kitchen wares, pillows, washer & dryer (and no, it isn't coin operated)... you can grill outside on the expansive deck, or sit and soak up the sun, or rock yourself into a heck of an afternoon nap! and there's a fire pit for evening bonfires that makes for great memories. Heron's Nest is a mid-size cabin at Colucci's, and I think we had 15 folks including the little ons very comfortably accomodated - and we are planning to rent it again in the fall for our third trip down to the river. I recommend Colucci Cabin's to folks all the time and just hope that there's going to be a date open for me and my gang at leaat one weekend a year. Love the cabins- love the folks, even love the long drive down from Michigan. I highly recommend Heron's Nest or any of the cabins at Colucci's.
      Sincerely,
      Tehry Smith
