    Additional Location Information

The Quintassential is located in the Central Algarve 15 minutes from Faro International Airport, 2Β½ hours from Lisbon International Airport & overlooks the market town of Loule, which is a five minute drive away.

From Loule the road rises gently for about two kilometres before you turn off on to a steep track for the last few hundred yards of your journey.

On first arriving, you may be surprised by the scale of the panorama afforded by Quintassential's lofty setting, as your eye wanders over the hills down to the distant coast from Faro to PortimΓ£o, a view that is particularly entrancing at night & truly beautiful during the day.

The Quintassential is set on a hilltop, 1200 feet above sea level, totally fenced & accessed via electric gates in total peace & tranquility, the ideal holiday location to relax and unwind.

Loule is a remarkably authentic country town, with locals going about their business in the daily covered market. Loule has everything one would need from a holiday with cafes, endless restaurants, snack bars, banks, shops, supermarkets, traditional Algarvian fish, meat and vegetable market, famous Saturday gypsy market & historical buildings. The owners who live on site are happy to share their local knowledge with those who seek advice on some of the fabulous walks in the area, places to visit, or a personal recommendation of the local eateries. There are two restaurants within walking distance of the Quintassential. However, the owners will never infringe on guest privacy.

We had an excellent week, staying in the Casa Do Forno Cottage, only marred by the rain, on some days and we never got the chance to eat on the private terrace.
Bijou cottage. Excellent and convivial owners. Would stay again, without doubt.
      Thanks to Rosa and Mick.

      Dear Doreen and David
Many thanks for taking the time to write a review following your stay in our Casa do Forno Cottage.
It was an absolute pleasure to be able to welcome you both to the Quintassential and so glad you enjoyed your stay, albeit the weather was not kind to your during your stay and it is still being unkind to us know. We look forward to being able to welcome you both back to the Quintassential in the not too distant future.

      Wonderfully relaxing break

Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in October 2012

A warm welcome from the owners meant this break started on a high and that is how it stayed.
Very clean well equipped apartment. Welcome food pack was well received due to our evening arrival. Everything we needed for travelling with our 6 month old baby was also available to us, meaning we could travel a bit lighter!
The setting was perfect. Beautiful gardens, lovely pool area with plenty of space, again all perfectly clean and well kept.
Wonderfully relaxing, and the nearby town of loule was also lovely.
The only thing I could think that the cottage could benefit from is fly/mosquito screens on the windows. We were reluctant to have windows open at night as there were a few mozzies about. Fine for our visit in October, but would get very hot in the summer months.
Have already booked a return visit for next april!!

Thank you for taking the time to let others know about your stay here at the Quintassential. It was a pleasure to welcome you all to the Quintassential and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay here. We look forward to welcoming you back next April and seeing your beautiful daughter a little bigger. With reference to your suggestion re fly screens, all our one bedroom accommodations have mosquito nets over the beds and the travel cots provided for small children also have mosquito nets. This enables our guests to sleep with the bedroom windows open and take advantage of the cooling breeze that we get during the summer months and not get bitten As with most mediterrean countries, mosquito spray is used and we strongly recommend guest usage during the hotter summer months before retiring for the night.

An all round excellent apartment & location. Highly recommended

Left on 08/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012

The owners were friendly and extremely accomodating. They had excellent local knowledge and the information provided in the Villa was thorough. The Villa was of an excellent standard and very clean. There were little 'touches' that made it 5* - ie a wall safe, children's night light etc. The location is beautiful but a car is a necessity, its a shame there isn't at least one bar/cafe in walking distance but this isn't something the Villa can change. But saying that everything is no more than 5-15 minutes drive away. The swimming pool has plenty of space around it and is very clean and well kept. The gardens and children's facilities are very well maintained and of a high standard. We liked everything and can honestly say there was nothing we liked the least.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It was an absolutel pleasure to be able to welcome you all to the Quintassential and we are so glad that you enjoyed your holiday, your accommodation and the facilities we provide. It is a shame our local restaurant/bar was closed during your stay. They (Pedras D'Agua) normally only close during part of the month of November, but this year they have taken extended leave during the summer months. Hopefully when you return next, it will be open for you to enjoy their food and hospitality. Once again, many thanks from us all

Our second stay at Casa Do Forn at the Quintassential cottages complex.
The cottage was both clean and welcoming just as we remembered our last visit.
The location is idylic and conveniently close to Loule town and set in fantastic well established gardens with an excellent pool area for swimming and sunbathing.
The hosts Mick and Rosa Gulliver never fail to make you feel most welcome and they provide a most relaxing service to the holiday maker.
The whole service from start to finish is spot on and it wont be long before we are booking our third visit to this ideal place on Portugals algarve with its brilliant climate.

Rosa and Mick are great hosts and know when to help and when to leave you alone. We stayed in Casa do Forno, a rustic duplex. They've thought of everything even down to cool bags and tupperware pots to make self catering a breeze. We liked the views and lovely secluded veranda the best. Inside it is very bijoux and be warned the bathroom is on the ground floor and the bedroom is upstairs accessed by an interior open rustic stone staircase, makes things a bit difficult in the middle of the night! Location is perfect with Loule only a couple of minutes drive with lovely restaurants, market and shops. The pool area is great and often we were the only ones there even though all the villas were full. Quintassential has a real family atmosphere and is excellent value for money.

Left on 06/06/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We are always been made very welcome by Rosa and Mick at their beautiful home. We have tried all of the cottages on our many visits and they are all lovely although our favourites are Orange and Caso do Forno. The gorgeous garden that Mick has created is stunning and the views across the algarve are beautiful indeed.

Our favourite occupations are trying the many different restaurants in the area, sunning ourselves next to the pool and enjoying a glass of wine in the evenings with views to die for! There are plenty of places to visit in the area too.

Rosa and Mick go that extra mile for all of their guests and in our case, on our last visit, an extra 100 miles! They took our personal problem and made it theirs giving us so much help, support, encouragement and hospitality. We thank them both so much.

Left on 05/24/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Let me qualify the title first - we had booked and had a super time for two weeks. But we so wished for another week. Having said that, we would probably want another week after that.

To Quintassential - great place, as much company as you want or not. The views are stunning and Mick does a superb job keeping the garden spruced up. There is so much interest within the garden (whilst the dogs are hunting lizards and mice, although I'm not sure Mick can take credit for them). The views are stunning. We stayed at Casa do Forno Cottage. This has great character and if a little tight on space, it really didn't matter as we spent most of the time outside.

Rosa was great in keeping everyone happy and that we had a good time.

      Should you stay here? Yes.

It's not often we return to places we have stayed. Not because we don't like them but we like to visit new places. Not so at Quintassential. We have stayed at all but Lemon Cottage and have been more than happy with all of them. The peace, quiet, views, pool, hot tub, gardens and owners and their pets are wonderful as is the local town of Loule - very much portuguese as opposed to being overtaken by tourists. Thank you Mick, Rosa, Sophie, dogs, pigs and chickens for a great weeks stay (despite the weather).

There is a swimming pool and jacuzzi on site and also a children's playground, if you wanted you could just stay here and relax and not go out but for shopping, but of course the algarve has a lot to offer. Yet another fantastic stay at the Quintassential. Whether it is a 2 week or 4 day stay, we always feel totally relaxed very quickly. The location is ideal, 15 minutes from the coast but also very handy for seeing more of the Portuguese countryside (great for walkers and birdwatchers). The accomodation is spotless and very comfortable - we love buying fresh fish to barbecue at our leisure, taking in beautiful garden with spectacular views to the coast. The pool must be the cleanest I have ever seen with the hot tub an additional bonus. Loule is a delightful market town with loads of Portuguese charm. The local restaurants offer excellent food at extremely reasonable prices. Mick, Rosa and Sophie are perfect hosts - full of local knowledge and nothing is too much trouble for them. I have been there on many occasions and as you surely can tell from this review, give the Quintassential 10 star plus!
