Description from the owner

The flat is in a fully renovated building from the 1890's and it is just a short walk to the charming Medieval part of town. Lübeck is known for its seven church spires and its typically Gothic architecture. There is much of interest for visitors, for example, the Holstentor, Rathaus, Salthouses (Salzspeicher), Buddenbrook House, the Trave, museums etc. Lübeck is a short distance from Travemunde and Timmendorf (15-20 minutes by car) where one can enjoy the air and water of the Baltic Sea. There are a number of tours of the area available by bus or boat. Lübeck is also world- reknowned for its quality Marzipan. Lübeck is a Unesco Heritage...Read more

A very well equipped apartment with an excellent location

Left on 04/01/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We enjoyed our stay in the apartment. The location is very nice with just a 5-10 minute walk to the central station or the old town. Dont miss the lovely German restaurant just 5 min away which used to be a old fire station. Also the elaborate Italian supermarket 'the Bistro' is worth a visit.

The apartment is also very well equipped, the Jessops have considerately equipped it with small and big things that a visitor may need and often forget bringing.

      Amazing find!

Left on 09/29/2012 for a stay in September 2012

I have done alot of travelling throughout Europe, and I found this flat to be one of the best I have ever stayed in. It is clean, spacious, modern, well equipped and furnished, even by demanding North american standards. It is in an absolutely stellar location - a safe, quiet residential neighbourhood, but just minutes away (by foot) from the medieval Lubeck town core, and even closer to the train and bus stations, which provide ready access to the rest of the country. The price was reasonable, and I have recommended it to family and friends.

Absolutely brilliant, clean, convenient, and well equipped place

Left on 08/31/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Our flat was spacious, spotlessly clean and better equipped and organised than our own home. The tasteful decor made it feel really special. We totally totally loved it and wished that all the holiday rentals we have had over the years could have been of the same high standard. It really makes you feel you should treat it with respect and care so that others will enjoy the same brilliant standard. Well done the Jessop Haus!

The welcome was warm and very helpful, including helping us to get linked to the internet. Recommendations for places of beauty and interest to visit, shopping, dining etc were given when we asked, as we were staying a whole fortnight in the flat. All questions were welcomed and readily answered.

The location of the flat was unbeatable. It took less than 7 mins level walk to get to the train and bus stations (which are next to each other) as a 45 min train journey to Hamburg was undertaken by us. It took a genuine 15 mins level walk to the gates of the town centre, and as an older couple this was a real bonus. Local shops for groceries were a 10 min level walk, but it was better to go by car to the local small supermarkets (all grouped together and only a 3 min car journey away - Rewe, Edeka, Aldi and Pennys) because as soon as you see the quality and choice you would buy beyond what you could possibly carry. The concierge (Bruce) told us where to find the local supermarkets. He also recommended a little bar/restaurant just around the corner from the flat in the old Firestation where they had a simple menu with vegetarian options, draught beers and a nice quiet relaxed atmosphere. We dined there twice but were also happy to go in just for a nice drink.

The town centre is so picturesque and absolutely stuffed with intriguing little shops, as well as the larger department stores such as Karstadt. The food in the dining hall at Karstadt provided us with a few lovely lunches. If you go to Lubeck on a market day watch out for the market stall that sells bowls of Erbensuppe mit wurst which is a really vegetable soup with sliced frankfurters in it (you can buy the soup without the frankfurters in it). Delicious and so cheap! Lubeck has a wonderful vibrant, happy atmosphere and is a total delight to walk round.

Lubeck is also very convenient if you want an outing to the lovely beach town of Scharbeutz (recommended by Bruce), Pelzerhaken near Neustadt (where we watched about a hundred windsurfers and paragliders one afternoon), Wismar, in what used to be East Germany (an architectural delight on the coast - but be aware that the shops seem to close midday on Saturday) and if you are into birdwatching, the island of Fehmarn which is home to a bird reserve with a visitor centre.

      Great Location and Fabulous Decorating!!!

Left on 08/14/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Close to the bus and train staion and not far to the center of Lubeck. This apartment was well maintained and very nicely furnished plus the kitchen was well equipped. We would definitedly refer this place to friends and return ourselves.

We were sorry we had to leave.

Left on 08/13/2012 for a stay in July 2012

After several weeks of travel, this apartment felt like home and was easily the favourite of our trip. A warm welcome awaited us, and the recently renovated apartment had everything we needed to make ourselves at home - including a washing machine! The location is very good. We arranged to park our car in the yard behind the house and walked everywhere. The main gates of the old city are 15 minutes away. The train station is even closer if you need it.
One thing that may not suit some is the fact that access to the bathroom was through the bedroom. This was not an issue for our family but may not afford enough privacy for some.

      Charming Flat

Left on 05/14/2012 for a stay in April 2012

What a pleasant surprise this little flat in the beautiful city of Lubeck was. We had decided to spend a few days in this beautiful medieval town on our way to Berlin. The flat was perfectly appointed with all the amenities. The kitchen was extremely well equipped, far beyond what you usually get in a rental. The location is superb, just a few blocks from the main train and bus stations. It's a very pleasant 15 minute walk to the heart of the old city. The apartment is charmingly decorated and really has that personal, homey touch that feels great after boring hotel rooms. The owners speak German, English and French and were very helpful. If you want a pleasant holiday in a charming town that is also quite accessible to Hamburg (45 minutes by train) try this place out!
