Three weeks before our visit to condo #1704 in Coral Beach Condos over the New Year's Holiday 2012, we had an unfortunate circumstance where Bahamas air cancelled service from our departure city and the closest airport they serviced was 1,000 miles away. We booked our airfare through a travel site and the site refused to rebook us on another carrier without us paying the outrageous price difference. We had two condo rentals for our large group on the island. The other condo was re-rented within the week and we received a full refund. Michael said he couldn't re-rent this condo, so we were out the $ as the contract stated. Due to the circumstances, though, he agreed to return the cleaning fee and car rental since the unit was going unused and those fees would not be incurred by him. Five months later and five emails saying 'the check is in the mail', we have received nothing and he won't return any emails or phone calls from us. As we worked through this situation with the travel site, Michael wouldn't even give the travel site the courtesy of a return phone call when all they wanted was to confirm that we were really out the $ on the condo.
We can't speak to the quality of unit #1704, but based on the lack of service we received from the owner, I would question whether the property description really is what it says. If you ignore this feedback and still decide to rent from this owner, be prepared for him to not communicate once he has your money. Make sure you have backup plans & travel insurance in case of unforeseen situations. We won't be renting from him ever again and suggest you don't either! We have since learned that this is not the first time that he hasn't been responsive to renters. See Tripadvisor.com post from July 3, 2007.

Travel Insurance for large groups :
This was very a unfortunate circumstance . We tell all potential renters to have the travel insurance policy for just this reason.
We have a Travel Insurance section right in our Rental Agreement Contract, every renter signs including this family to make sure they are aware of why its good to have.
It tells where to go to get the insurance, and reasons why, sickness, weather, change of dates etc...
We could not rent the unit to anyone for the holiday week in such a short time, not even 3 weeks prior to there stay they emailed us.
And we did try to help them by trying to get other people in to rent it.
We offered another time to the tenants which they did not take us up on.
We were upset and now very surprised to see this review, When they never even stayed at our property.

I have organized trips all over the world for my family and I for many years, and this is the first time I have ever written a bad review. I rented this condo for a week, including the van that the owner said was available for an additional fee. This is not a property that is located within walking distance to the major points of interest on Grand Bahama Island. After arriving at the condo, we found that the battery was dead in the van and the tag had expired. I contacted the owner and the onsite manager multiple times and, by the end of the second day of our vacation, the van was not operable. On the third day, the owner said to go ahead and rent another vehicle and he would refund the $450 I give him to rent the van. I did. That was two weeks ago. The owner no longer returns my emails asking for a status on my reimbursement and he has not refunded the money for the van that I paid to him. Be warned and think long and hard about renting from this person. Minor issues regarding the property (ants, appliances that did not work) were overshadowed by the issues associated with the van and the honesty of this landlord.

These renters came in on a Saturday night and told us the issue with van. The last renters left the lights on when they left and the battery went dead.
We had it running that day, and the van was totally insured but needed to have the sticker put on the van. All set in 2 hours Monday morning by 10am.
We are very surprised by this review because the renters told us how much they loved the property, the area and had a wonderful time with there family. The views and right on the beach was perfect they said to us.
We spoke to them and told them we with out any reservations will refund the van rental and have spoke a few times over emails and called them at the property on the island.
We are right down the beach about a 7 minute walk from Port Lucaya a perfect location on the island.
This is our second home and we take care of it very well, all appliances are working, nothing was reported to us about any of these things.
I think this review was written in haste . we have already mailed the refund back to them and have not had any phone calls at all from them.

The Good: The beach is pristine, white, and uncrowded. The pool area is clean and updated. The pool bar has some of the best food around. The condo is clean, and some updates have been done to the bathrooms.
The not so Good: The linens were old and thin. We had 6 people staying in the condo, and were allotted 6 towels for the week. We were at the beach, yet there were no beach towels available for use. (yes, the owner did warn us in advance to bring towels as his seem to "disappear") The beds were squeaky and uncomfortable. The bunk beds in one room had nothing but sheets on them...we had to try and dig around in whatever closets we could access, to find some sort of blankets to use. The "fully equipped" kitchen had 1 paper towel. (not 1 roll...1 sheet left on the roll) We were also allotted 1 trash bag for the week. There was no hand soap in any of the bathrooms. (Not something you can easily bring with you due to airline regulations these days.) The hot water didn't even turn on in one of the bathroom sinks.
The "HD" tv in the main room, wasn't HD...and needs updating.
One bedroom had no tv (it was shoved in a closet)
The sliding door to the balcony had no handle. Hard to access, and not too secure. (Great view...but the soggy green carpet needs to go) The wind had also blown one of the screen doors off on one of the balconies. Not huge issues...but something that should have been taken care of prior to our arrival. Great potential for true "penthouse" quality...but as is now, it's just "average"
