Borgo La Fontana: Surrounded by magnificent Tuscan hills, Borgo La Fontana was once a hunting lodge retreat of a noble family of Lucca, now completely restored as a 5 star Holiday Villa for up to 24 guests. Today Borgo La Fontana is an elegant and exclusive Tuscan retreat immersed in a splendid parkland of ornamental ponds and antique fountains, time-forgotten courtyards and lemon scented Italian gardens.

The 12 individually styled bedrooms, for up to 24 guests, are a reflection of gracious living blended with the typical Tuscan hamlet style of wood beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and warm, welcoming colours. Reception rooms include a wine library with private collection of Tuscan wines, a card and billiard room, a domed music room with log fireplace, grand banquet room, a large Tuscan kitchen, several comfortable lounges as well as a workout room. Accommodation Details

Ground Floor: Fully equipped kitchen, formal dining room, drawing room with fireplace, satellite TV and video, office, music room with piano and fireplace, card and billiard room, wine library, workout room with cardiovascular and weight equipment, sun lounge/reading room, 4 guest WCs. Service area and laundry room. Staff accommodation.

First Floor: 12 bedrooms (4 of which can be made up as king size or twin beds), each with en-suite bath and shower facilities (5 with hydro massage bathtubs). The bedrooms are in three different sections of the villa as follows:

La Chiesina: Originally the stone chapel of the estate, there are 3 bedrooms here situated above the sun lounge and TV room, overlooking the swimming pool on one side and a courtyard filled with terracotta pots of lemon trees on the other.

Ferro-a-u: The oldest part of the property, with walls dating back to the year 1000, and where the original olive press used to be housed. There are 5 luxurious bedrooms here in a horseshoe arrangement, all with original beamed ceilings, terracotta floors, overlooking the little Italian piazza. These rooms are above the music room, card and billiard room and wine library.

La Peschiera

There are 4 elegant bedrooms here integrated around the original 17th century fountains, overlooking the Italian park and above the grand dining room and formal drawing room.

Staff

The rental price includes mid week cleaning. The services of a chef are not included. A gardener looks after the grounds and swimming pool.

Laundry, drycleaning, massages and a babysitting service are on request.

THE CITY OF LUCCA enjoys an enviable position a few minutes away from the sea and less than an hour by car from Florence. It borders on the province of Pisa, and is surrounded by the Apennine mountains and the spurs of the Apuan Alps. Hemmed in by its walls, the city reveals itself a little at a time. There are a number of attractions around Lucca including the Museum of Modern Art in Montecatini, the 12th-century Ponte della Maddalena or Ponte del Diavolo (Devil's Bridge) at Borgo a Mozzano, the Grotta del Vento, the wind cave, in Fornovolasco, nine miles from Barga and Barga itself, with its Lombard castle. If you are traveling with small children, take them to the Parco di Pinocchio in Collodi, the birthplace of Carlo Lorenzini, the author of the famed childrens' book "Pinocchio". This is a 1950s 'theme park' with tableaux depicting scenes from the story of the long-nosed one. Or take them for a ride in the century-old funicular, the cable-driven wooden train that toils up and down between Montecatini and the rather touristy, restaurant in Montecatini Alto.
Drive to the beach resort of Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio, Lido di Camaiore, on the Versilia coastline, or, in an hour to the rugged Cinque Terre, to the Gulf of La Spezia, to Lerici.
