Description from the manager

Ten minutes drive from Lucca, on the road that leads towards the marble mountains of the Apuane and Camaiore, a small drive leads to an idyllic hidden valley, where Casina nestles snugly beneath its parent house. The views are wonderfully Tuscan: ancient farmhouses perch on hilltops and forested hillsides wrap around the valley. Casina, together with the owners main house, was built in 1600 and is set in ten acres of lush Tuscan countryside, originally part of an estate including a large villa, a chapel and a "grotto" with mosaics, of which some remains are still visible. A swimming pool sits to the right of Casina, taking the place of the or...Read more

      Amazing Villa

Left on 06/29/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Fabulous holiday thanks to the help, assistance and proffresional services of 'Invitation to Tuscany'. The villa set in the picturesque hills of Tuscany is a beautiful rustic tuscany haven to spend a chill out holiday. The road leading to the property is steep and winding with narrow roads but certainly not a problem. The pool was immaculate as was the house and gardens. The internet connection wasn't always great, but so what! we were on holiday. Definate reccomendation, great holiday spent with a small group of friends

We spent a wonderful week at La Casina 4. The location was convenient to Lucca, Florence Pisa and the Cinque Terre. The owners were on site that week and were most gracious. We hope to go back again!

      Wonderful, peaceful and friendly. Amazing!!!

Left on 09/28/2011 for a stay in September 2011

Where to start. From the welcome prosecco in the fridge, to the rustic and wonderful accomodation and the views from the pool.

Close enough to the main tourist hubs but feeling like you were in the middle of nowhere, if you are after a tranquil hideaway then this is the place.

It feels very remote when you turn off the main road into the village, the directions perfect but persevere. The road isn't great but an adventure itself. And the view when you first see La Casina ahead of you is stunning. You know from that moment that you are going to have a great holiday.

Lucca is close with it's many restaurants and delis / supermarkets, a trip around the city walls a must at the very least. Leave early in the morning for trips to Pisa and Florence to get there before the tour buses turn up. And a wonderful fish restaurant set back from the main square in Porto Venere. A bit of a trek but definately worth it.

Margaret and Sandro made us feel welcome straight away, leaving us to our own devices and offering advice when sought. Being invited to dinner with their friends and family on our last night, cooking homemade pizza in the outdoor pizza oven, olives and figs picked from the trees surrounding the property, drinking home made lemoncello and prosecco was a wonderful way to end our week here.

I cannnot rate our holiday at la Casina highly enough. Thank you.

      A wonderful experience

Left on 09/27/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We had a wonderful time at "La casina". The location was stunning and incredibly beautiful, we loved taking walks in the surrounding hills, and at night we sat outside and enjoyed the starlit skies. The bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable, the pool a joy to use at any time of the day.

      What a great vacation

Left on 07/18/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We were very pleased to have rented la Casina 4. We had a wonderful time. Directions to the villa were clear, it is a short drive to Lucca, the villa was spotless, very clean. The owners have a lots of referral of place you can go either for see site or for a meal. We highly recommend a restaurant up on the mountain called Ristoranti Ceru, the food is good and very cheap, besides you have a beautiful view. If you don't speak any Italian, make sure you take a small dictionary.
The weather was unbelievable, we had sun shine all week and we also were very lucky that the other Villa on the same property wasn't rent out. We had it all to ourselves. We loved the fact that the villa was a little remote because after a busy day visiting touristy sites, it was nice to be in a nice quiet place.

      Away from the madding crowd!

Left on 07/03/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We have just returned from 2 weeks at La Casina. It was a family reunion with our now grown up children. We had the most relaxing time in this very comfortable, small house which is spectacularly located high up a hillside with a wonderful view. The colourful flowers, herbs and bushes all around the property with their lovely fragrance add to the relaxing atmosphere. The pool is large and very clean and we greatly enjoyed using it particularly in the hot afternoons. The drive up to the property is not for the faint-hearted but it is only about 20 mins from Lucca and is close to one of the wine and olive oil routes. We would recommend La Casina and look forward to returning.

A lovely serene place to stay, 10 minutes drive outside Lucca. The views were wonderful over the Tuscan hills. The house is well equipped and very comfortable, the garden a joy to wander through and the children loved the pool.

Superb and relaxing stay in Tuscany

Left on 10/13/2010 for a stay in July 2010

We had great pleasure at la casina 4. We are a family of 4 including 2 teenagers. The view from the swimming pool is splendid.
The kitchen is small but evrything you need is there. We ate close to the pool in the evening and we had breakfast in the green room.
From there we could visit Pisa, Florence, Carrara Cinque terre, Lucca and more in our week.

      Best Kept Secret

Left on 10/11/2010 for a stay in May 2010

From the moment we arrived on the property I was in awe!! The view, the villa and Sandro and Margaret were spectacular! The pictures do not do them justice. An amazing Villa tucked in the hills for peace and quiet, breath taking walks, crisp clean air and the flowers, oh the flowers. We had everything we needed for coffee in the morning to watch the sun come up as we sat under the pergola, and the pristine (chilly) pool to rinse away the day of exploring. We utilized the barbeque for dinners, while we sipped on the local wines..Ahhh, what can I say, I will definitely be back next year!!! Thank you to Hugh Barton for understanding my "needs" and Sandro and Margaret for their gracious hospitality!

Left on 10/11/2010 for a stay in September 2010

We had a great week in La Casinaand were made very welcome by Sandro, Margret and of course Pepe, the house was excellent and very comfortable with everything you need. It is very close to Lucca with all the limks to Floreance, Pisa and beyond.

The house was very clean as was the outside area and pool.

We would highly recommend La Casina to anyone and if you can stay 2 weeks.

      We will definitely be back.

Luxurious, slightly quirky and positively idyllic

Left on 12/04/2009 for a stay in May 2009

After a week in Chianti, we chose this location because we wanted to explore
Lucca, Pisa and Florence. It surpassed our expectations. The location is
excellent, about 10 - 15 minutes north of Lucca, up in the hills. The villa has
everything visitors might need - it's for four, but we're a couple so we had
plenty of room. Huge pool and wonderful views. Owners were away, but had
      thought of everything. Recommended.

      The Perfect Getaway

Left on 12/03/2009 for a stay in October 2009

We arrived at La Casina for the first week of our honeymoon. We were absolutely shattered after the wedding and 5am flight, so were looking for somewhere to completely and utterly switch off and relax - we were stunned by the peace and tranquility of La Casina - the photos on the website really can't do it justice - incredible. The owners of the villa, Margaret & Sandro, were there to greet us with homemade prosecco and various other goodies before leaving us to collapse by the wondeful pool for the rest of the week!

A really fantastic villa with everything you could need and more for a relaxing holiday - we can't recommend it highly enough....we will definitely be back to enjoy the amazing views, pool and lovely villa.

Left on 11/24/2009 for a stay in June 2009

We travelled to La Casina at the end of June 2009 and had the most amazing week. We couldn't have been better looked after by Margaret and her husband. Beautiful setting and the location really lends itself to a week away 'from it all'. Very peaceful and chilled out environment - we wanted for nothing during our stay.

Quaint villa in superb setting and location.

Left on 11/18/2009 for a stay in May 2009

Excellent service where everything required for the stay was available. The villa
is spacious and has a very rustic atmosphere. The sitting area has fantastic
views of the countryside while being cosy especially with the fire lit. Located
close to Lucca, it has an abundance of shops and restaurants. The owners have
graciously provided a folder detailing best restaurants and sights in the area,
and are more than helpful in providing advice on these subjects. The best
aspect of our stay at this villa was the pizza party organized by the owners -
pizzas will never taste as good again!

The Casina 4 gave us a wonderful base to explore Italy from. It was located in the hills and far enough away to give us the peace we required and close enough to towns and villages so that we could pick up supplies and be home within 45mins. We enjoyed the splendid views and exporinging the region as far down as Sienna. Great road links so that we could visit the must see places in Tuscany. We had a wonderful holiday.
