    Additional Location Information

Villa Nobile is nearby to Villa Aquilea (DWL Tours’ first property) and also sits on the beautiful hill of Aquilea (pronounced “ah-kwee-LAY-ah”), just north of the walled-town of Lucca, Tuscany, with views of the countryside, the river, and Lucca in the distance. The village of Aquilea has a coffee bar and small grocery (1km) while other coffee shops, baker, butcher, restaurants, shops and a large grocery are in the bigger village near the river at the bottom of the hill (3.5km). The drive is very pretty, as the winding, paved road passes olive groves, farmhouses, vineyards and cypress trees. Lucca itself is 13 km (8 miles) from the villa.

From the villa, you can easily explore the Aquilea countryside, Lucca (20 minutes), the Garfagnana region (30 minutes), Pisa (45 minutes), Florence (75 minutes), the Cinque Terre (90 minutes) and many, many more attractions.

      Far from the madding crowd...

Left on 04/10/2013 for a stay in October 2011

If you are looking for the ultimate in get-away-from-it-all holidays, then a stay in the Villa Nobile is just what you need. Perched on the summit of the hill of aquilea near Lucca, the house offers luxurious accomodation, beautifully furnished and decorated rooms, great swimming pool and breathtaking views over valleys and olive groves... You will need a car of course, but that will give you access to the lovely town of Lucca (20 minutes), as well as the unparalleled experience of the Tuscan countryside, its villages, restaurants and its coastline. Forte de Marmi is a mere 25 minutes away with its massive beaches and a little further on you can take the ferry from La Spezze to visit the incomparable five sea-girt towns of the Cinque Terre. This is Tuscan romantic experience carried to its full extent. When you are there, don't forget to walk up the very summit behind the house to the ruined church, scene of a battle in the second world war in an unforgettable setting. We have stayed in this house many times over the years, and it just keeps getting better!

      The Perfect Getaway in Tuscany

Left on 04/07/2013 for a stay in August 2008

My husband and I spent a fabulous time here celebrating our 20th anniversary with friends. The house and grounds are beautifully appointed, with magnificent views in every direction. It was especially nice to be able to take a short ride into the city of Lucca to go bike riding around the ancient walls, attend an Eric Clapton conert in the town square, and take a fun day trip to the charming beach resort of Forte dei Marni. All in all, it was the perfect combination of rest and relaxation with stimulating and active adventures in this region of Italy

      "Tuscan dream come true"

Left on 04/05/2013 for a stay in September 2012

We had the opportunity to stay at Villa Nobile for some lovely days in September. As soon as we entered into the villa, we knew we had arrived to a very special place. The villa is just beautiful and gives you a wonderful "royal" feeling in an understated kind of way. You have spectacular views of Lucca and surrounding valley from almost every room and to open up the windows from your bedroom in the morning was a "Tuscan dream come true"! We have three younger children and they also enjoyed very much to spend time in the beautiful gardens and in the pool as well as in the nicely arranged family and game room. We loved spending time here and would always like to come back.
