Additional Location Information
We had a wonderful time at Precious Forest. We celebrated our wedding there with around 50 people and it was gorgeous. The sunset over the lake is so beautiful! Ken is a fantastic host. He has been super helpful the whole time. He recommended a party rental place, let us use his smoker and stereo, did the dishes, and just helped out wherever he could. We loved the place so much that we're going to come back each year.
Located in the Mendocino National Forest on a westerly facing mountain ridge with big timber.

after stumbling upon the Precious Forest website then taking the trip up Bartlett Springs Road to see it for ourselves, we knew we had found our venue. Precious Forest catered our wedding and we had no complaints on the delicious food prepared. Ken Stritz was very hospitable and worked around any concerns we may have had to alleviate them all, and after the smoke cleared, the memories of that day at Precious Forest with my beautiful bride bring tears to my eyes.
A huge thank you to Ken Stiritz and Precious Forest for coming through on everything we needed and wanted for our wedding day. My recommendation for anyone deciding to get married at Precious Forest is that you will not be disappointed.

My fiance and I stayed at Precious Forest Mountain Chalet for 3 nights in early august. For what we were looking for, this place fit the bill perfectly. It's beautiful, secluded, private, and quite affordable. The main cabin in which we stayed was rustic and basic, but charming and cozy. There are many interesting and cool features of the cabin and property- the 100yr old wood/gas stove, the massive smoker outside, the beautiful upstairs patio looking down the valley towards the sunset, the outside hot showers- and so much more. There is not electricity, but they ran a generator for a few hours each evening just after sunset which was perfect by us. We had the entire property to ourselves, on which there is another smaller cabin, a few teepees/yurt style structures, and a few tents.
Ken was a wonderful host, and overall I can't recommend this place highly enough for anybody looking to truly get away.

Wow- Ken has a gem here with the Precious Forest! We found this property on airbnb and it looked wonderful, but the pictures don't do it justice. Beautiful drive up through gorgeous country, but climbing the hill up to the precious forest, we knew we were in for a treat. The cabin sits on a gorgeous, secluded, wooded property- and the main feature we thought was the quiet. My wife and I grew up in Colorado and we miss the quiet mountain air- Precious Forest gave us a wonderful dose of that.
After enjoying the scenery for a while, we finally made cabin- just spectacular. Everything is just how I would love to have a cabin someday- rustic and authentic. Ken clearly loves this place and has put all the right finishing touches on. My favorite was definitely the old wood stove- love love love! Also, the old lanterns were perfect.
Overall- this is what I call perfect wife camping... We grilled outside and cad a perfect campfire- cuddling and roasting marshmallows then went in to the very comfortable bed for a good rest.
Highly highly recommend- thanks Ken for sharing the Precious Forest with us!

Once again, we were not disapointed with our visit to Precious Forest. We felt like we were returning "home" as the cabin is so welcoming. We had wonderful weather and so enjoyed the quiet evenings spent in the jaccuzzi. We loved the great company of our very gracious host: Ken and his wife Katie, as well as the boys. Though off the grid, we were not of want for anything. A truely majical experience, one that we look forward to repeating in the near future. We will be back.
Good Point. I will work on some ideas to make it better for children during extended indoor stays during cold weather. thank you kindly, Ken

My boyfriend and I have stayed in the Precious Forest cabin during the last two Valentine's Days. Ken is the nicest person I've ever met. He delivered delicious pancakes to us one morning, let us adopt his lab/husky puppy for the day, and was constantly available whenever we needed advice about where to go or how to get somewhere. They aren't lying when they say this cabin is romantic romantic romantic. There is an antique stove perfect for cooking pasta, a porch for watching the beautiful sunsets over the lake, and even a jacuzzi tub! And the price is unbelievable...never did I think we would be able to stay i such an amazing place since we both are college students and are poor...But on top of everything, it is super affordable. Thanks for everything Ken!
Ps...if you go to Precious Forest, bring a playlist full of 1940s love songs...it goes with the atmosphere there perfectly. :)

Precious Forrest was the perfect romantic getaway from start to finish! From the seclusion, to the scenary, to the snow ball fights, we had a blast! Ken was very helpful during our stay and made sure we had everything we needed and was eager and willing to help with any questions or problems we encountered.
I would highly reccomend anyone and everyone to take a trip up to the Precious Forrest cabin and see for your self!
Thank you Ken for a fabulous getaway, we can't wait to stay there again soon!

My wife and I spent our anniversary at the cabin. We had a wonderful view, lots of privacy and time to unwind and relax. It was a great place to get away, and the cabin itself was great. I liked the rustic old stove and the layout of the cabin. Just a great place to take a break.

Beautiful location in the forest above Clear Lake — a charming romantic getaway for two.
1) The grounds were having some work done and were a bit of a mess.
2) The kitchen needed some cleaning help before we settled in.
3) About 3/4 of the candles around the house had been well used down to the end before we got there.
4) No soap or shampoo in the bathroom.
5) Need separate receptacles for trash/recycling/compost.
1) Cute wood cabin, very dark and quiet at night.
2) Bed was very comfortable.
3) Bathtub is awesome for two.
4) Incredible views from the top of the mountain.
One suggestion to the owner: get rid of the TV, it's an unnecessary distraction in an otherwise lovely retreat from the world. And you have to run the generator to watch anyway. Read more

We had a fantastic weekend at Precious forest. We were looking for a quite, nice place to celebrate our first anniversary and I feel we made the right choice. Sindbad was very friendly. My wife and I completely enjoyed his company. At first I had my own doubts if all the positive reviews for this place could be true. After the stay I realize all the previous reviews were spot-on. Thanks for the fresh salad greens and tips on the hiking trails.

Antique gas stove with wood-fired oven; upstairs deck overlooking Clear Lake; ultimate privacy; Sinbad the snuggly cat ... this is the place to reboot. Enjoy a bonfire on a warm summer night or watch the snow drift in the winter. Each season has its own personality ... letting you contemplate your own.
