In an exceptionally beautiful position, Hopton Court is an ideal place to explore the delights of Shropshire, Worcestershire and Wales.
Standing in a commanding position, Hopton Court is a Grade II listed Georgian House and has been in the Woodward family for six generations.

Matlock, United KingdomFabulous apartment with beautiful views from every window
Left on 05/08/2013 for a stay in May 2013
I stayed here with 2 friends in May 2013 for four nights. The apartment is very spacious, elegant, well furnished, and spotlessly clean.
There are beautiful views of the grounds from every window, where you can sit and watch the small flock of sheep grazing or look out onto the lake and extensive lawns and see the ducks, pheasants, rabbits and other wildlife.
The kitchen is well equipped with every utensil you could need, and more than enough crockery, pans etc for four people.
Each of the 2 bedrooms has a good sized en suite bathroom.
There are plenty of places to visit within a 20 mile radius, and many much nearer.
Leopold was our contact during our stay and was extremely helpful and friendly. Thankyou Leopold!
If you want to play at being lady of the manor for a week, this is the place to do it.
All in all a fabulous stay! -

London, UKA fabulous Christmas country retreat with character
Left on 02/07/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We stayed at the Hopton Court apartment over Christmas 2012, and had a fabulous time.
This characterful apartment has everything you could need for a relaxing stay. Taking up the entire top floor of beautiful Hopton Court, the views from every window of the Shropshire countryside are outstanding. The interior of the apartment is also very spacious and comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you could need for your stay.
Someone in our party had reduced mobility at the time of our stay, so the lift from the private entrance on the ground floor to the apartment was ideal. We were also able to park right by the entrance which was particularly handy.
Although you'll almost certainly need a car to stay here, the location was perfect for us, enabling us to enjoy walks in the surrounding countryside, visit beautiful Ludlow and easily pop for a drink at the local pub down the road one evening (which is 5-10 minutes walk from Hopton Court).
Booking with the friendly owner, Charlotte, was really easy, and we quickly received confirmation and useful information for our stay. Leopold the house manager was also really friendly and helpful when we called to arrange our arrival.
So, all in all a great stay- which one day we very much hope we can repeat! -

This was our second visit to Hopton Court and we loved it as much as the first time around. It is a stunning place and the apartment is fantastic - beautifully decorated, huge and with everything a family needs. There is so much to see and do in the area. We will be back!

Left on 10/21/2012 for a stay in September 2012
From the moment we drove up the driveway to the moment we left the premises, this was the best accommodation experience of our 4 week stay in England, Scotland and Wales! Beautiful vistas out of all the top floor windows, and no one else around- so complete privacy. Stairs not a problem, as there was a lift available too. Trout in the pond and grouse in the gardens- how much more of an English country experience can you get!

BedfordRural getaway, with homely comforts
Left on 10/17/2012 for a stay in October 2012
We had a wonderful time in the Hopton Court self catering apartment. Bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The wifi was a little tempermental but that's probably what we needed in order to get a complete break from the everyday. A wonderful spot for walks and easy to get to interesting places like Ludlow. Can't wait to return for another visit as 3 nights wasn't enough.

Malton, United KingdomA quality apartment
Left on 07/07/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We rented this apartment with friends for a celebration get together. The apartment is very comfortable and well maintained. The kitchen is well stocked and toiletries etc are all provided. We would have liked a shower in both en-suite bathrooms, but this was not a real problem. We got the impression that when not let it also served as a family home/retreat. The lift proved to be very useful, especially getting the luggage up and down to the apartment. Impressive views of the grounds and surrounding countryside - regrettably we could not take full advantage of the grounds because of the rain. !!
Good selection of restaurants in the area - thank you Charlotte for the suggestions. We also used The Crown at Hopton which although not quite as high standard did a very acceptable menu/meal.
All in all an enjoyable experience.Response from Miss CJ Woodward - 07/18/2012

Hi David - thanks for the review
We do try very hard to be all things to all people, sometimes our guests prefer to be left alone, sometimes they like to meet the Housekeeper in person.
I will ask the Housekeeper to check in future with guests whether they want to meet in person or not.
Sorry about the rain, the one thing we can't fix unfortunately.
Best wishes

Fort Smith, ArkansasWe had ten restful and entertaining days, with friendly and help
Left on 06/23/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We stayed ten days in this beautiful stately home, enjoying day trips in the area, tramping around the adjacent fields, and sometimes just gazing out the windows at the lake, the pastures, and the sheep. Furnishings were attractive and comfortable, including the extensive library. Kitchen and dining room furnishings allowed us to enjoy cooking in and even entertaining a bit, when friends came and stayed two nights, using the second bedroom. Chris and Leopold were extremely helpful with giving directions and suggestions, and in sharing the history of this magnificent house with us. We had a great dinner at the Crown in Hopton Wafers.

Left on 10/28/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We have only praise for this beautiful top floor apartment (with lift). It was ideal for us and my elderly mother, peaceful, and with lovely views in a delightful part of the country. I particularly appreciated being able to book it by the night, rather than being confined to either a 3 or 4 day weekend, or else a full week. It did seem as if everything was made easy and pleasant for guests. Have no criticisms of the place which is quite unusual for me!

So glad you enjoyed your stay. And super-glad you weren't able to find any criticisms! Do come and stay with us again soon!

Londonelegant and spacious apartment in charming village near Ludlow
Left on 08/19/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Hopton Court is everything you can wish for from a holiday rental. The apartment is situated on the third floor of Hopton Court house and there is a lift up to it if you can't manage the stairs. The apartment is huge with 2 very large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a spacious kitchen, massive dining room, study and living room. The apartment has a very cosy feel to it and is beautifully furnished throughout. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you could possibly need. The owners provide toiletries and there was even a bottle of champagne waiting for us in the fridge on our arrival! It's a fantastic location from which to explore Ludlow and the surrounding Shropshire countryside. There is also a very good local pub within 10 minutes' walk of Hopton Court called The Crown. We ate there several times in the evening and were very impressed by the menu (summer special of £9.50 for 2 courses) and the friendliness of the staff.

London, United KingdomAmazing apartment, stunning location
Left on 06/01/2011 for a stay in February 2011
The pictures really don't do justice to Hopton Court. The size of the apartment, the grandiose feel, and the quality of the decor and furniture make it an almost regal stay. We went for a long weekend with our daughter and two other friends in February, and we could not have hoped for better accommodation.
I'll save the praise of the area, for people will know the country and Ludlow and surrounding areas and hence the beauty they are getting.
The owner was always available and yet simultaneously we felt "left alone" - and I really recommend this for those who want to "get away from it all" - the apartment easily sleeps 6, and it has a really personal touch - it felt like it were cared for as if it were someone's own home.
There's a nice pub in walking distance serving great food and good real ale, and the walks are unbelievable.
Amazing place. Would love to go back!!Response from Miss CJ Woodward - 07/01/2011

Tadley, United KingdomThe most wonderful accommodation in a beautiful location
Left on 01/09/2011 for a stay in January 2011
My husband, two young children and I absolutely loved our New Year stay at Hopton Court. The apartment is fantastic - wonderfully spacious, beautifully furnished and very well equipped. Every room has a different view, overlooking the grounds and the hills beyond. The house is also in a great location, in a secluded spot and yet an easy (stunning) drive to Ludlow and many of Shropshire's best sites. We would thoroughly recommend Hopton as a very special place to stay.

PeterboroughFab accomodation ideal for the disabled.
Left on 11/01/2010 for a stay in August 2010
This was the best holiday accomodation we have ever had. There is a lift up to the flat which is invaluable if you have a disabled or infirm person travelling with you.
The accomodation is top rate and the surrounding area and house grounds are extremely beautiful.
There was a power cut whilst we were there due to a storm and we were very concerned, as my husband has to have dilaysis every night via an electric pump. The owners were already prepared and came immediately to the rescue with generators which they set up for us to ensure that if the power cut persisted, he could continue his treatment. They were fantastic and we cannot thank them enough for their help. -

DerbyshireJust stunning
Left on 10/14/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We were hugely impressed with our stay at Hopton Court. The proportions of the flat are huge. 2 enormous bedrooms, 2 large en-suites, a study which also converts into a double bedroom if required, a separate cloakroom, good size dining kitchen, huge dining room and a lovely comfortable sitting room. The place is decorated in a lovely country house style, with sumptuous but very comfortable furnishings.
As keen cooks we were particularly impressed with the fully equipped kitchen. Often we find that self catering accommodation provides only the basics, but at Hopton Court, there is everything you could possibly need.
The grounds surrounding the house are just stunning. Our young son adored running around.
The location is also fabulous. A short drive into the beautiful town of Ludlow with it's Saturday food market, Sunday antiques market and renowned restaurants.
We just can't wait to return to this countryside escape - it was blissful. -

Boston / Cambridge. Massachusetts, USAEnglish Countryside like no other!
Left on 10/13/2010 for a stay in October 2010
After a magnificent ride through the English countryside over lovely roads with vast views, one drives up a long driveway, with fields of sheep and loads of pheasants peacefully milling about, to find a beautiful old manor house majestically welcoming you to the elegance of by-gone-times.
The accommodations, on the top floor of this three story house, (with an elevator if needed), afford views from each room of carefully landscaped lake and gardens as well as woods and sheep dotted pastures. The rooms are spacious, beautifully appointed and above all comfortable in their elegance. Exquisite watercolors brighten the walls in the sunshine and light from the large windows throughout. A very 'home like feel" is present and relaxing.
The cheerful kitchen is fully equipped with every sort of gadget imaginable and can easily either provide a gourmets' meal for the formal dining room or a quick repast in the informality of kitchen-eating. The bedrooms are large and comfortable, each with its own bath and perfect for that leisurely soak whilst taking in beautiful countryside views.
Our time at Hopton Court was further enriched by several wonderful walks and outings. The roads throughout the property and down to the little village are great. A visit to Ludlow, with its beautiful architecture, interesting old local shops, pubs and great foods -- a must! Ludlow is a self-sustaining town, not reliant upon tourism which if fact is absent from this whole area. Quite refreshingly authentic and vibrant.
I cannot recommend this get-away experience more highly. It was the perfect respite during a long trip and provided an invigorating break from Museums and the "big city" hustle-bustle.. A trip to the UK would not be complete without this balancing experience to the country's way of life and its richness.

The accommodation is of the highest standard. It is not only well equipped with en suite bathrooms and excellent kitchen but is beautifully furnished with antiques and paintings. The apartment is situated on the top floor of this historic listed house but is easily accessed by a lift and every room has panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
We enjoyed exploring Ludlow, Bridgenorth and Croft Castle.
The owners are very welcoming.
