Very kind hosts. Helpful with activities and directions to spots in area. Close to many great Nova Scotia gems. Great, clean and comfortable cottage. Has everything one would need, very warm, clean and comfortable, would stay here again anytime. Fabulous view. Relaxing, away from hustle and bustle but close to get to hustle and bustle when you want more excitement. Close to many fun outdoor activites like kayaking, hiking, swimming boating etc.

Myself, husband and another couple rented a cottage together from august 21st. to august 28. Plenty of room for the 4 of us. Steven's description of the cottage was exact and everything there was perfect.
Should we return to Lunenburg, we would not hesitate to return to the retreat and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Thank you for a wonderful time -

Steven, the owner, was very accommodating and very helpful. The cottage was very clean and with a well equipped kitchen with most kitchen utensils you would need, and if you needed any help with anything Steven was willing to help out. Sitting on the patio looking out to the water was the best part, you felt like you were in a different world. The cottage property is situated between Mahone Bay and Lunenburg so it is close to shopping/groceries/sight-seeing. I am already wanting to plan another trip East and we plan on staying at the Prince's Inlet Retreat, we can't wait. Thank you Steven again for everything.

We cannot contribute much that wasn't stated before, but we want to emphasize how very special this place is: quiet, rural surroundings with a lovely view of the inlet - a doe with her two speckled kids came regularly across the grounds. On the other hand, amenities like dishwasher, perfect kitchen utensils, comfortable beds,TV/DVD player, a tasteful decoration, a nice patio with lots of furniture. The only shortcoming was a rather weak WiFi but I am sure that Steven will see to that.
Steven is the most likeable and considerate host and makes you feel at ease.
As a beach, we recommend the one on Second Peninsula, it is very nice and has some shadow to the southwest end.
If we come back to NS one day (which we hope) we will surely consider Prince's Inlet Retreat our first priority. -

We arrived in Lunenburg and had no trouble finding the retreat with the fantastic directions we received. The cottage was just what we were hoping for and we were happy to get some rest after the long trip out to the coast. There was plenty of space for the two of us and we took advantage of the kitchen, patio, tv, and internet. It was obvious that work was being done on the property this season to the cottages. I have a disability and the cottage was manageable with only 1 small step to get inside. It was a great place to call home for our stay. We were able to do some great road trips from here but Lunenburg stole our hearts.

When we were looking for somewhere to stay near Lunenburg I emailed a couple of holiday lets asking for details and if they had availability. The minute I read Steven's reply I wanted to stay at the Retreat. Unlike many of the other lets that responded with a brief email containing prices and availability, Steven took the time to respond with a charming mail containing details and some personal history of how he came to be managing the family property. I'd rather stay somewhere with a personal touch that feels welcoming and Steven really makes the Retreat feel that way.
From corresponding by email, to speaking on the phone and, finally, to coming out in his car to find us when we couldn't find our way there (our fault, not the directions, which were good - if we'd had them with us...) nothing was too much trouble.
The cottages are set in a lovely, quiet location with countryside all around, perfect for the kids to go out and explore or go down to the water which is steps away. The cottage we had was perfect for us, lovely and cosy inside and an amazing view. Just sitting out on the front was the best way to relax, if we'd had more time and the inclination it would've been perfect for a bbq. You're also just minutes from Lunenburg and Mahone Bay and the drive down from Halifax (1hr) is also easy.
I would definitely come back, a week relaxing here would be perfect, thanks Steven. -

Cosy cottages and a good place to start from when traveling by car in Nova Scotia.
The standard was as expected. An upgrade on kitchen utensils and a comfortable outdoor furniture set would have made this stay great.
The later, I'm confident, will been taken care of for next season by the nice host Steven Hebb!Response from Steven - 08/26/2011

Thank you so much for the review. We have started with upgrades this year. New patio picnic tables and benches were purchased and built by myself and a carpenter friend. New patio umbrellas were also puschased for the tables which are really cool because they have LED lights in them for night-time dining. Unfortunately this was only completed after this guest departed. There is PVC patio furniture at each cottage which is getting dated and I agree needs to be replaced. This will be done by next season but for now it's better than having nothing and inspite of its age it is still quite comfortable and supplies ample outdoor seating at each cottage. I have to say that I am somewhat confused about the comment on the kitchen utensils. They are stainless steel and in very good shape. They are all restaurant quality and were purchased in a restaurant supply store. This is the first negative comment we have received pertaining to the kitchen untensils. In fact it's just the opposite. We have received numerous compliments (especially from women) of how well the kitchens are set up. They tell us we've thought of everything for all their cooking needs. So I honestly can't see making any changes in that department. Overall I thank the guest for taking the time for writing a review for our property... very much appreciated. Thanks!
