Rise Again Cottage, at 175 Second Peninsula Road, Lunenburg, with only a quiet road between you and an ocean cove, is a real Maritime home with brightly coloured, cheerful rooms, linens, furniture and accessories. Walls are hung with marine charts, photographs, paintings, prints, and decorations. The living room and the master bedroom face east down the inlet towards the sea, with brilliant summer sunrises and glorious afternoon light on the... adjacent hills. Enjoy the spacious deck in the soft morning and at the end of your day, with a barbecue and a glass of Nova Scotia wine. The house is graced with a wide deep lawn, meticulously maintained.

The cottage is well supplied with an open fireplace, 39-inch flat screen HD TV, DVD/CD player, cable-TV, high-speed internet, telephone, and a library of DVDs, CDs, and books, plenty of towels, down duvets, extra pillows, hand-made quilts and blankets, an espresso/ cappuccino machine, and comfortable furniture, some of it crafted locally.

The cottage accommodates 6 people in three bedrooms.

Swim and paddle from our dock, just across the road. We have 2 sit-aboard kayaks and a canoe for your use, with paddles and universal PFDs, as well as 2 sea kayaks which are usually available. The cottage has an array of indoor and outdoor activities. Five minutes away, near the end of the peninsula, is a delightful long, uncrowded sand beach with clear, quiet shallow waters - perfect for children. The peninsula as well as the whole south shore, are great for walking and biking.

Rise Again Cottage is a perfect place for couples and families to feel comfortably at home, while being within a very short drive to all the local festivals, shops, bakeries and restaurants and to the local festivals and fairs, and to so many activities -- golf, hiking, kayaking, swimming, beach walking, whale-watching, cruising., and so much more.

The name Rise Again Cottage was selected because of the well-known Stan Rogers song Rise Again (Mary Ellen Carter) and because it is an old local tradition to select for a boat a name with three A's. Ocean Front, on Second Peninsula, between from Lunenburg and Mahone Bay, and only 7 minutes to each. We are 1 1/2 hours from Halifax Airport. Explore the South Shore on the Lighthouse Route, which starts at Peggy's Cove, ends near Liverpool, and winds through fishing villages, delightful towns and hamlets, and scores of broad, white, sandy beaches. Lunenburg is the highlight, as it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has a memorable historic waterfront - home of the original racing schooner Bluenose, of Bluenose II, and launched in the fall of 2012 with great fanfare and celebration, the restored Bluenose II. The South Shore has a delightful array of shopping, dining, sport and adventure opportunities.

  We came with teenagers and extended family members. It worked for all. So much to do in the area: beach, biking, kayaking, tennis. The cottage had everyhing we needed and is decorated with some of Fern's lovely weaving and glasswork as well. Very nice.
  Fern was also very helpful advising us on days to catch farmers' markets in Mahone Bay and Lunenburg, where to get fresh seafood, and where to get a great biscuit and cup of coffee in Mahone Bay. I would love to return some day

  We were a group of two adults and three teenagers, armed with laptops, books and bathing suits. Who knew we would have such fun! No sooner did we nestle in for a weeks vacation, it was time to pack up and head home! Leisurely morning walks along Second Peninsula Road with breathtaking vistas at each turn; lazy afternoons at Bachman's Beach snorkeling in the gin clear water and soaking in the warmth of sun and sand; dining on Fran's deck with a view of the setting sun over Martin Cove, the sound of rustling leaves in the gentle evening breeze and the wondrous and fleeting glimpses of deer in the adjacent glen, all and more made our week an unforgettable memory. A beautifully appointed cottage with an owner who aims to please!
  
  Do you like to shop and dine out? No worries. Rise again is situated eight minutes from Mahone Bay and three minutes from Lunnenburg. Simply park the car and enjoy an afternoon of shop and gallery hopping. Restaurants, cafes and pubs specializing in east coast cuisine.
