Sparta, MichiganEnjoyed our stay!
Left on 04/03/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This was our first trip to Maui, and we were very pleased with the condo, and the location. B1 is very nice, and well maintained. We've stayed at all the spring break locations, in Fl. and Cancun. This was a nice change of pace. We wouldn't recommend it for families with teens looking for fun. But It's very peaceful, the beach and pool are nice, and the best part is its centrally located. Whale watching and dive/snorkel trips leave right out of Maalea Bay harbor, so your 2 min. away. Also close to lahaina, keihi, and kuhului. We looked at kaanappali which is the busy resort area, but we're happy we chose Maalea Bay. If you want a very nice place to stay, that's on the beach, where you can relax, you should definitely stay here.

Bowser, CanadaWow we are coming back
Left on 12/03/2012 for a stay in March 2011
We went to Maui for the first time and this location had been recommended to us. We certainly weren't sorry either. We had a ocean facing unit and could sit on the balcony and watch the whales right in front of us. The only thing that was even slightly bad was the main bathroom was rather small but really who cares as you don't spend alot of time in there. They have a pool, an area for bbq's, a washer and dryer room and did I mention the great view!!! The people who live in the condo couldn't have been nicer and the staff with the rental group were very helpful. We could also walk to the a little plaza where the whale foundation is and go on actual whale watches. I have just renewed my membership with them as it is a great way to see whales plus so much more. We are going again in Feb 2013 and this time instead of 12 days we are staying 19 and staying in the same location. I highly recommend it.

Belmont, CABest Hawaiian vacation ever!!
Left on 02/10/2011 for a stay in June 2010
As stated above, this was the best Hawaiian vacation ever for us as a family. We felt welcome and very well treated during our stay. The condominium was very well equipped with everything a family needs to feel "at home". We very much enjoyed our dinners on the balcony,
our swims, walks at the beach and the sunset / sun rises over the ocean were out of this world. Management did a wonderful job in making our stay as comfortable as possible. Makani a Kay is very clean and well maintained. And it has a great beach front and its access is easy.
There were a couple of little things that did not quite work out well for us: The day we arrived, there was a huge fire, so we did not have
access to Maalaea Bay due to roadblocks. Since we were not familiar with the area,we called management and were told, we had to stay somewhere else, e.g. Kihei. (Now, where is Kihei, when you live in
San Francisco?). No directions were given to us on how to get there, ore which hotels to approach. Not a good way to start a vacation. But all was well when we could get through to Maalaea Bay the next day.
What we liked least was one weekend when there were parties at the beach. Many strangers crossed the property, even jumped in the pool, and used facilities. They behaved kind of rude (they were young and
drunk), and nothing could be done. Even though a couple of guests tried to address the issue. We just stayed in the condo and set the situation out. But all of this did not have a big impact on our stay.
We plan on returning in the near future, because it was truly a
wonderful vacation. And we would love to continue our conversation
with Ron, the manager, who was always fun to talk to. :-)
