Gaithersburg, MarylandRelaxing weekend in the Virginia Countryside
Left on 05/25/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Girl friends and I stayed a long weekend. We relaxed, visited, talked, cooked and ate. There is plenty of space for a large group to sleep comfortably. If we had longer we could have seen some wonderful sights, all very close by. We need to do another weekend or a week, there are so many things to do and see. And it is such a relaxing setting. My favorite spot was the rocking chair on the porch. For lunch, breakfast and cold drink time, this is where I wanted to be. This home is rich in history, yet updated to be very comfortable. The builder/original owner's paintings hang in the dining room. I love history so this was very exciting for me. I highly recommend this wonderful home for rent. But I hope it is still available when I want to go back!

Ann,
My husband and I can't thank the Tidball family enough for letting us share their little corner of heaven! We had such a wonderful anniversary weekend and are already in process of reserving another long weekend in august! There is not one thing that we could even imagine complaining about. It was such a great moment when my husband realized he forgot his toothbrush and, low and behold, there was one on hand in their "extra stash" basket in the bathroom. Its the little things that mean so much :) Upon arrival we found fresh baked cookies that ann made for us and they were delicious. Hope she didnt mind that we took the remaining cookies home with us. Along with the cookies there was an anniversary card personally signed, a bottle of wine and a dozen fresh eggs in the fridge. They were very thoughtful personal touches. We just couldnt have asked for more!
Oh, I almost forgot, there were some really big fish in the pond. Kept my husband occupied for hours! He caught several smaller fish and one big catfish but it broke lose by the time he got it to shore...I was there to see it so I am a witness, lol.

Herndon, VaA charming, peaceful home away from home.

The level of personal consideration was excellent, from the freshly baked cookies on arrival to the fresh flowers in each room. The house itself is very charming and extremely comfortable. Even with several people it never felt crowded. The views from the house were wonderful and it was so pleasant to enjoy sitting on the porch enjoying the tranquility of the setting. There are wineries and antique shopping close by and between Madison and Charlottesville there is a good selection of restaurants and shopping within a reasonable distance.
Personally I loved the beauty and peace of the property and have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Herndon, VAI had a fun, relaxing weekend with my girlfriends.

The home is lovely and quaint. The property is beautiful too--a little countryside, some woods, the pond. Really enjoyed just sitting on the porch or the pier, breathing the fresh air, and enjoying the view. The house is better equipped than most vacation homes and we felt comfortable there right away. The house is inviting and the beds were comfortable. We were concerned about only having one bathroom but it really wasn't a problem. We were initially disappointed that the TV was upstairs so we wouldn't be able to watch the movies we had brought, but once we got over it, we didn't miss it at all. In fact, I think if I were to come with my family I would be glad that television wouldn't be central to our daily activities.

Rockwood Farm is close to major roads but has the feel of being tucked away off of the beaten path. The house has everything needed for your stay, from very comfortable beds and plush towels to fishing rods for the pond. There is even a fire pit to enjoy in the evenings. The house is very tastefully furnished and the kitchen well equipped. We truly enjoyed our stay. Ann, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. We would consider staying at Rockwood Farm again in the future.

We had a wonderful long weekend in this farmhouse in Madison, Virginia. The house has been fully modernized but retains a sense of its history, with lovely furnishings. My kids loved the tire swing out front and swimming in the lake and my husband and I enjoyed lovely dinners on the outdoor patio looking out at the amazing view. What a peaceful and beautiful getaway from the city! The owners were attentive to our every need and we look forward to coming back soon.
