This apt. is one of the best lodgings we ever had. It has everything a family needs - small, but functional kitchen with all possible amenities including dishwasher; two spacious rooms to make life of parents and children easier; fully equipped bathroom; free Internet; even pool in the upper floor. It is just next to the center (10 min walk to Gran Via) and has supermarket in the same building.
Our host Ramiro was very polite, patient and always on time.
One drawback - in the hot Madrid nights we wished to get more powerful air conditioning system. However, this should not stop you from renting this place. -

muy grande, muy comodo. Hay todo lo que se desea para cocinar, descansar y cojer el desayuno, la comida y la cena en el balcon.
Hay porteros muy atentos y se puede distrutar de la piscina y sala de deporte comun.
Esta muy bien situado : un mercado en frente, un supermercado a la esquina, el metro muy cercano y a unos minutos de la Gran Via. -

El apartamento tiene una excelente ubicación y es muy cómodo. La zona es un poco ruidosa, a la mañana los fleteros esperando que los contraten se reunen en la acera y hablan, rien, gritan. Enfrente esta el mercado Barceló y hay un momvimiento de proveedores desde muy temprano cargando y descargando mercadería, pero esto es transitorio porque están edificando el nuevo mercado Barceló a una cuadra y próximamente se trasladarán. Solo le reclamaría a los propietarios que coloquen un equipo de aire acondicionado para el dormitorio. Cuando yo dejé el apartamento a mediados de junio empezaban a pintarlo, Supongo que lo habran dejado de diez.

We stayed 5 days in this apartment in September 2010. Located just off C de Fuencarral on the boundary of the Malasana and Chueca districts, it is an easy walk down C de Fuencarral to Gran Via and Sol. The apartment is on the 3rd floor of a large apartment block. A Dia Supermarket is located on the ground floor on one side of the building and a bank with cash machine is on the corner. Across the road in what used to be public gardens is now a fresh food market selling everything a traveller would want.
This apartment is starting to look tired. The bathroom has been renovated, but the rest needs a coat of fresh paint. The Ikea furniture is chipped and worn. Small things such as a toaster that jams and burns toast, a wall clock not working, a broken plastic chair, no wine glasses (in Spain?), an electric lemon squeezer that doesn't, kitchen extractor fan disconnected and an air conditioner badly in need of a clean, spoil what is otherwise a pleasant place to stay.
It could be very hot in summer as the air conditioner struggles to cool the apartment even in late September and the windows need to be kept shut to keep out the street noise.
The washing machine works ok, but slowly, and the internet connection is good. You will need to look for the ssid and wep code on the bottom of the modem to log into the wireless network.
To sum up, good location and value, but let down by poor maintenance.
